Chapter 49: Across the Line

Holly Adams POV:

I walked through the halls of the Massachusetts General Hospital. It turns out quite the firefight broke out at the warehouse after Andy and I left to chase the SUV, and our wounded had been brought here for treatment. Fortunately for us, no one on our side had been seriously hurt.

The same cannot be said for the people responsible for this.

Finding a window, I looked inside the room of the couple. According to one of the doctors I’d run into, their injuries had been serious, but they were both in stable condition now. Both would be well enough to stand trial. I had to frown as I looked in at them. They looked so frail and helpless lying in those hospital beds, but who knows how many deaths they were responsible for?

“Corporal Adams.”

I turned to see Captain Philips approaching me. His left arm was in a sling, and he had a series of cuts on his left cheek, but besides that he seemed to be in good shape.

“Captain,” I greeted him.
