Capítulo 24: I hear a voice
Xavier rolled his eyes at the shocked look on Veronica's face and was about to walk away when she grabbed onto her hand.
"You must be blind then to say something like that because everyone knows I'm the more attractive sister" Xavier sighed then turned to her.
"In everyone's eyes you might be the prettiest but not in mine" Then he grabbed onto her hand and before Veronica could think, he twisted her hand till her bones shifted before letting her go.
Veronica let out a loud scream filled with pain as she fell to the ground.
Everyone around immediately came running including Aurora and Steven.
Aurora gasped when she saw Veronica on the ground then she turned to Xavier with a frown.
"My arm, he broke my arm!" Veronica cried out as she nursed her arm with her other hand.
"I didn't break it, it'll heal back" Xavier muttered nonchalantly like he could give zero fucks about what just happened.
Steven immediately went to help Veronica up while Aurora grabbed Xavier's hand and led him away from the crowd that was already giving him odd looks.
"Why did you do that? You could have broken her arm" She scolded but he just shrugged.
"If I had my full strength back, I would have but since I don't, she gets to keep her arm" He uttered which made her sigh.
"What did she do? Why did you want to break her arm?"
"She touched me and I made it clear to her that I don't like that so I had to make sure she never forgets" Aurora massaged her temples then sighed.
"Go before they come after you or before my parents learn of this. You're not capable of defending yourself yet and I don't want you getting hurt, hmm?" She was about to walk away when he grabbed her hand.
"Why are you nice to me? Why do you care about me?" He was just genuinely curious. No one has ever shown him the amount of care and Kindness Aurora has shown him in all his years of living and he didn't understand why. He hadn't given her anything neither had he helped her with anything. He was cold and mean to her most of time and had even rejected her when she told him how she felt about him.
"Because I like you, Xavier and I just realize that I can't like anyone as much as I like you. I realized that Steven can't help me with that and maybe I'll try with someone else later but I just can't because you're the only one on my mind. I know that you will never like me the way I like you or see me the way I see you but I don't think I care anymore. I've come to terms with the fact that I can't control my heart and my heart wants you" Her heart was thumping so fast in her chest as she spoke but she needed to get it off her chest now. There was no use getting over him because she was going to end up hurting the person she was using to get over him and she didn't want that.
"Go now, I'll come find you later" She muttered then ran away out of Embarrassment. Why did she say all that?! She was so stupid!
"Aurora?" She raised up her head and saw Steven walking towards her with furrowed eyebrows.
"Oh Steven. How is Veronica?" She questioned when he was in front of her.
"I carried her up to her room and her arm will heal, it wasn't fully broken" She sighed then nodded slowly.
"I guess that's good. I'm tired and I feel like resting now" Steven frowned then sighed.
"I know you like Xavier" Her eyes widened at his words. Was she that easy to read?
"Steven, I'm…."
"Don't apologize, okay? I get it so don't. Does he like you back?" Aurora shook her head with a frown.
"And he's never going to like me but I just can't seem to get over him" Steven chuckled.
"I guess we are on the same page then, huh?" She nodded slowly then bent her head and began playing with a stone on the ground with her feet which made Steven chuckle.
"We don't have to be awkward together, you know? Why don't we just complete our picnic date? I had everything planned out" She smiled then nodded.
"I would love that" Steven smiled then led her towards the picnic blanket he had laid down earlier.
As she sat down, he brought out a basket that had food and fruits in it.
"The food must be cold now but I promise, they're delicious" She smiled.
"I don't mind, I like my food cold" As he laid down everything, she turned towards where she had left Xavier and sighed when she saw he wasn't there anymore. At least he listened to her.
"Do you like sandwiches?" She turned to Steven as soon as he asked and then nodded with a smile.
"I do. Is it ham?" He nodded.
"Yes it is. Every other sandwich is inferior to ham sandwiches" She giggled then nodded.
"Finally, someone that thinks like me. I've always said that but you know Veronica just always has to disagree with me on everything" Steven laughed.
"Siblings are just there for annoyance and nothing else"
"True" They both laughed and she actually found herself enjoying his company now that she had been true to herself.
"Aurora" She gasped then turned around to see her father furiously storming towards her.
She immediately stood up and walked towards him.
"Father, what's wrong?" He glared at her and was about to say something when he noticed Steven. He glanced between them then frowned.
"What is going on here?" Steven bowed his head but before he could say anything, a powerful force came out of nowhere and pushed him to the ground.
Aurora's eyes widened as she bent down to help him up.
"Steven? What's going on?" She watched in horror as he held onto his head, groaning.
"I can… I can hear a voice… in my head" He stuttered then shook his head, seemingly trying to get rid of the voice.
Aurora glanced at her father who's face mirrored hers because they were both confused about what was happening.
Suddenly, Steven stopped shaking and he seemed to have come back to his original self.
"Steven? Are you okay?" He turned to her and smiled calmly.
"Better than okay, Aurora"...
