Luckily for the Yu Clan, their patriarch's disciple didn't act on the fears they had. Even if he didn't doesn't mean they escaped the consequences of their actions, albeit it wasn't from that domain expert neither was it from the Starlight Lake Sect but was instead from their fellow clan members. 

Most of those involved got ostracized within the clan. They were treated as untouchables. Walking plagues that would curse those who associated with them.

Almost all of them were avoided by the rest of the clan who were afraid of being implicated by associating with them even though their patriarch's disciple showed no signs of seeking reprisal for their actions.

The threat of a domain expert ran that deep. Therefore for most, especially those who held any sort of ambitions within the clan, that part of their path in life was indefinitely cut off. No one was spared from it not even the clan patriarch's son.
