Determined to take as much as he could off of Varya's shoulders, Basileus informed the advisors that something had happened but that it was handled and wouldn't need intervention. He gave them no further details, knowing that the emperors kept a lot of secrets from them. 

Instead of sitting at the emperor's table by himself, he opted to return to his quarters and got undressed. He was tired of the suit he wore from the moment he put it on. 

After getting comfortable, he took the short journey to the emperor's quarters and slipped into Varya's area undetected by anyone in the hallway. 

The babysitter was still there, reading a book on the couch.

He relieved her of her duties, thanking her for her hard work that evening. Not knowing how much she was allowed to see of the situation between Ebari and Varya, he kept it brief and said that the emperors sent him.
