*Narrator pov*
It's been several days since Morpheus's battle with Morthrax. Which meant it had been several days since the letter he received from the Black family reached his hands.
Morpheus's mind was not well, the battles had left him drained, and his mind couldn't help but wander to the shock he felt seeing Helga again.
Currently, Morpheus stood in his lounge, amidst the dimly lit room, he raised a beautiful pitch-black violin with mesmerizing silver strings to his chin, the instrument cradled like an old friend. As his fingers danced across the strings, a symphony of raw emotion unfurled. The haunting melody seemed to reach into the depths of his being, unraveling the threads of corruption that had woven their way through his soul. Each note was a cathartic release, cleansing the stains of wrongdoing as the music soared and weaved through the air, leaving a trail of what felt like liberation in its wake.
His body swayed and contorted with the ebb and flow of the music, as if the melody itself had taken hold of him. His fingers, nimble and sure, plucked the strings with a fervor that mirrored the intensity of his emotions. With each crescendo, he leaned into the instrument, his torso bending and twisting as if compelled by an unseen force. The bow, an extension of his very essence, danced across the strings in a hypnotic rhythm, weaving a spell that transcended the physical boundaries of the room. It was as if the music had seized control, guiding his every movement in a passionate dance of redemption.
As the melody began to slow and his movements halted a small smile spread on Morpheus's face, this smile was not to be confused with his usual one. No, this smile held genuine warmth, a rare sight on the man's face.
Morpheus looked down at the violin and softly muttered, "Thank you, old friend,"
Setting the violin down gently he picked up some floo powder and muttered, "Black Estate, Meeting room,"
*fwish* in a burst of flames he was gone
*Morpheus pov*
I stepped into the meeting room, Arcturus and Cassiopeia were already inside waiting for me. A bottle of wine along with a glass was next to my seat, I smiled while picking the bottle up, "This is an excellent bottle," I nodded in appreciation
*pop* taking the cork out I poured myself a glass while taking my seat
"I hope you can explain why you are going around making important figures disappear, I have to say it hardly feels like we are allies right now," Arcturus said dangerously
I swirled the wine before taking a sip, "Excellent truly an exquisite bottle do you have more? Unfortunately, I wasn't around during the time it was made,"
Chuckling at their unamused looks I continued, "I can tell you but, I really do implore you to keep the information I share with yourselves,"
"We are allies by blood pact, even if we wanted to we couldn't," Cassiopeia replied briskly
I scoffed, "Now we both know that's not true,"
"Anyways, I would have to tell you eventually might as well be now. Demons, angels, and gods exist though they are not as grand as you might imagine. Those people I killed were possessed by demons," I replied with a little laugh at their unamused expressions
"You will have to come up with a better lie than that, our family would have records of them if this was true," Arcturus sneered
"But you do have records? The very book Cassiopeia owns has very extensive recordings. Although your family is old you weren't around long enough to see the wars but, you will find in that book things your family managed to learn," I replied shaking my head
"I have read this more times than I can count! There is no mention of what you speak of," Cassiopeia said in confusion
I took another sip of my wine, "Toujours Pur, has such a broad meaning 'always pure' it means but you already know that. Do you know what it was truly referring to? Not this pure blood nonsense, no it refers to something more abstract the soul. Your ancestors believed whatever action they take should always lead to the soul being pure; with no regrets and no hesitation. No one understood because your family practiced dark magic how they could refer to themselves as pure, it is because your family never did anything in half measure they stayed true to themselves and that is the most important thing of all,"
Seeing their wide eyes I continued, "To truly read what you possess I suggest delving deeper, and then you will understand,"
"Stop speaking in riddles, just tell us how to read the hidden pages," Arcturus demanded
"I can't tell you that as I don't know, however, I do know there are pages you haven't seen. I truly cannot help you anymore. I can fully explain why I killed them and you will understand but, I think the words of those before you will be more meaningful," I answered with a small shrug
With a heavy sigh, "Let's change topics, the one my foolish daughter wants to follow is starting to make moves," Arcturus slid over some small newspaper clippings
I looked them over, they were a part of the smallest section of the newspaper, "He is only attacking those who are not purebloods, the prophet probably doesn't care enough or is being manipulated," I replied
"When he fully appears I will declare house Black neutral until you decide to make an appearance," Arcturus concluded
"I thought about it, and I was wrong. If you don't want Bellatrix to join him convince her to see reason without actually saying you know about her plans to join this new dark Lord's ranks. If I had a grandchild I truly cared for I would want them to be in my line of sight as well," I said with an understanding look
I was too harsh on them, I didn't think of their dilemma. It wouldn't matter if she joined Tom or decided to stay with her family anyway.
"Good, we finally agree on something. It's been many years since your last alliance hasn't it?" Arcturus joked
I nodded, "Yes, I haven't been in house alliance like this in many years," finishing my glass of wine I asked, "Truly, do you have more of this?"
*Arcturus Black*
After Morpheus left I sat with Cassie trying to figure out how to unlock the pages.
"Something was different about him," Cassie said with a small frown
I nodded, "I felt it to, it was like his presence was drawing my inner desires out," it was unnerving how I instinctively wanted to share more information than needed
"Like my Occulmency shields were waning," I added thoughtfully
"He didn't even seem aware of it, should we write?" Cassie asked while flipping the pages in annoyance
"No, we might be mistaken you can never tell with that man. I still remember when I first met him, he seemed to know everything about me in one glance," I chuckled softly who would have known I would form an alliance with him
"Maybe, we shouldn't treat it as a book but as an artifact passed down through the Black Line," I suggested
Nodding Cassie laid her hand on the cover, "I Cassiopeia Black, keeper of the Black secretes bear my soul, my blood, and my magic to you,"
*FWISSH*
The book flew from the table and began to flip through the pages, I could see more and more seemingly appearing.
Taking it Cassiopeia began to read aloud, our eyes widened in shock, and a cold sweat broke out.
He was telling the truth.
