Capítulo 42: Not Amused
I pause, giving him an odd look before scoffing and saying, "I know you aren't trying to tell me what do to right now, right?" He blinks, frozen in his spot before awkwardly saying, "No? No, not at all. I'm just worried."
I give him a cold smirk while saying, "And who are you to be worried? Are we close?" His dark eyes harden a bit before giving me a cold smirk of his own and saying, "Alright, I see that I crossed a line. No need to get so aggressive."
We stare at each other in silence for a few moments before I look away and sigh. He's right. I don't need to be so hostile when he was clearly just worried about me. Their world and customs are different.
I look down at my hand and see that the black veins are gone. I breathe a sigh of relief but it's short-lived. I need to find the other Artifacts and fast but when I think about Dade, I find myself hesitating.
Would it be faster to find him first? Or to bypass him and his clowns altogether, going straight for the Artifacts? Wait, wait... How did I even end up in that town? I was sleeping, not using my magic or anything, and yet...
When Bolin sees my frown, he sighs and says, "What are you thinking so hard about?" I look over at him and say, "I'm thinking about how I ended up in that village." I see him stiffen before saying, "That's right, the voice said you were sleeping and somehow ended up there."
I blink before slightly smirking and saying, "Ah, so you two have met?" Before Bolin can say anything, Mago snorts and says, "I guess you can call it that. It's more like being forced to speak to this moron."
Bolin's face darkens as he turns to glare at the necklace around my neck. My smirk grows as I say, "Be nice Mago, this is his home we're staying in." Mago snorts again and says, "He tried to take me off you! Good thing your necklace protected me."
If Mago was a person, he would be standing in front of me pouting. Arms crossed and chin up in the air. I narrow my eyes, giving Bolin a questioning look. Bolin tsks before saying, "He wouldn't shut up. I was only going to lock him away for a bit."
Mago suddenly yells, "HAH! Who knew you'd be shocked and thrown halfway across the room? Hahaha!" My eyebrows shoot up as I look at Bolin again. He was currently looking away with a very dark face.
My lip trembles as I try to keep from laughing. Man, I missed it. That would have been a sight to see. As if seeing my failed attempt to hide my amusement, he gives me a dry look and says, "I'm not amused. Back to the situation at hand. Has this ever happened to you before?"
I struggle to swallow my laughter before shaking my head and saying, "No, never. I've always been in control of my magic and my actions but ever since I've come here... things keep going wrong." Bolin watches me silently as we both try to come up with reasons.
Mago suddenly breaks the silence and says, "You've always been sensitive to magic, especially dark magic. Maybe it's worse here?" I tilt my head thinking but it feels like something's missing. I shake my head no, biting my lip.
I blink, turn to Bolin, and ask, "How long have I been out?" He watches me with those same dark eyes as he says, "You've only been sleeping for about an hour." My eyes widen in surprise. It had only been an hour!? It felt so much longer while I was there.
When I think of the dragon, I clench my fists as I say, "I need to find the other pieces of the Artifact. If I don't, something horrible will happen." I push myself over to the edge of the bed, trying to get up as Bolin lifts his hand and says, "It doesn't matter. Your safety is more important. To hell with the rest."
I look at him in surprise, slightly smiling. I give him a teasing smile as I say, "As flattering as that sounds, I can't do that. If I don't collect the Artifacts, they will lay waste to your world." I stand up, causing Bolin to roll his eyes in irritation.
He stands up, towering over me as he says, "So be it! Let it run its course." I lightly chuckle before looking up at him and saying, "If I don't collect the rest of the Artifact, my soul will be consumed by it. Your opinion on the matter means nothing to me."
His irritation instantly disappears as he suddenly says, "Haun, where are the other pieces?" Haun suddenly appears in the room with a bow and says, "We have two locations and are currently looking for more." Bolin looks at me and says, "Get dressed, we don't have time to waste."
I smirk, not even trying to hide my amusement this time. Such an odd man... He's willing to let the world go to hell in a handbasket but jumps the second my soul is mentioned. He doesn't even know me and yet he's acting like this. Why? What is he after?
I watch him and Huan talking about the village locations as I silently watch him. The more I see of him, the more confusing he becomes to me. It's like he's full of contradictions and I honestly don't know what to make of it.
I know one thing for sure though, I don't trust him. I never have. For all I know, he's going to offer me up as some kind of sacrifice for power or something. It seems to be a running theme for me here lately. For now, I'll use him and take what he's offering but it ends there.
As soon as I find a way back, I will no longer have any use for him. No reason to keep up with his weird antics.

I walk away, heading back to my room to change, trying to ignore the feeling in my chest. I don't like it, I don't like any of it. I just want to go back, make Aiya pay, kill Dade's creepy ass, and go back to my regular life where everything was simple and easy.
