Aláine's Point of View

After dinner, while Kristof was cleaning up the kitchen with Frederic, I went to talk to Zara, and then went upstairs to put my plan into motion. Once dressed, I sat down next to Axel to give him some attention. I didn't want him interrupting us tonight.

I wondered briefly if I should put him somewhere else. I wasn’t sure. I had never brought anyone home to my bed, so had never thought about this before. Axel seemed happy with the pats. Since he was still recuperating, he wasn’t as bouncy as he usually was.

You're such a good boy, Axel," I said. His tail wagged enthusiastically, but he still remained seated on his bed.

Each passing minute made me more and more anxious. What if he were able to sense my anxiousness? He probably had extraordinary werewolf senses to detect my emotions. This was not helping me relax. I ended up putting the dressing gown on because I was so nervous.

"Hey, my sweetness, are you all right?" Kristof asked, giving me a fright.
