Cassandra's Point of View
Tyra and I went clubbing as usual. This was our little nightclub where we met for the first time. We were sitting at a table close to the dance floor, hanging out with some friends.
The nightclub had the added bonus of being owned by the Midnight Werewolf Pack. Not the same as my brother's pack, but one of the packs swearing allegiance to the Kingdom of the Grey Moon.
"Speak of the Devil," I said under my breath.
I could just make out my brother Noah and Alpha Kristof. I was proud that Noah was Alpha Kristof's Beta. They had just finished talking to Alpha Lucas, who owned the club and ran the city-based pack.
"What was that?" responded Tyra.
"I was just thinking of Noah, and who should I see?" I answered.
Tyra smiled at me.
"Oh shit! What is she doing here?" she exclaimed.
"What's up, my love?" I asked.
"I've just seen my cousin Aláine," answered Tyra.
"She's here with Zara."
"Is that the Zara who has been hooking up with Noah?" I asked, smiling.
There is undoubtedly something going on with those two, but I wasn't sure what. It was not like Noah to bed a girl more than once if he wasn't her mate.
I had seen them together at the club more than once, and they had left together as well. I wondered if she was his mate, and if so, why hadn't they said anything. It was a blessing to find our mates, whether human or werewolf. Zara was definitely the former.
At least Kristof had no problems with humans becoming werewolves. There were some packs out there who would only mate with another werewolf. If their mate was human, they would reject them straight away.
My darling's cousin had seen us and was approaching. Neither she nor Tyra looked pleased to see each other, but I wasn't surprised.
When I found my mate a year ago, she was human too. I took her away from her human family and turned her into a werewolf.
Tyra loved being a werewolf, but I always felt guilty knowing that she had left her only human family member behind and could not say why.
We were cautious about not letting humans know about us unless they were our mates.
"What are you doing here?" Tyra said to Aláine.
"Nice to see you too, Tyra," she replied sarcastically.
"It's not my usual scene, but you know Zara."
"This isn't the place for you," Tyra continued.
"What? Why are you such an arse?" Aláine asked.
At this stage, I turned to face Aláine and Tyra.
"Play nicely with your little friend," I said to Tyra admonishingly.
"Rather pretty, isn't she?"
I could hear soft growling from Tyra, and I realised that I shouldn't have said that.
Werewolves, like ordinary wolves, are incredibly possessive and territorial, and I just commented positively about another female in front of my mate. Ooops. I would make it up to Tyra later. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen, mate bond or not, and I could see the family resemblance between her and Aláine.
I would have to figure out how best to approach Tyra and explain my comment. Sometimes, I could really put my foot in my mouth. She'd forgive me, though, because the mate bond won't let her stay angry with me for too long.
As for helping Tyra and Aláine, I wasn't sure what I could do.
"Meet my mate, Cassandra," Tyra said.
"Cassandra, this is my cousin Aláine."
I smiled at Aláine and then tactfully turned away and waved at Noah. He'd seen me, and both he and Alpha Kristof were coming this way.
I wondered if having Aláine and Zara at our table here would cause a problem. Although, it might actually be a bonus. I could talk to Noah and Alpha Kristof about how to help Aláine and Tyra since this problem was probably not going away now that they had seen each other.
Knowing how upset Tyra was at leaving, I didn't think she could stay away from Aláine anymore after this. What I wasn't expecting was for Alpha Kristof to declare that Aláine was his destined mate.
Aláine's Point of View
It was morning time all too soon, as I slowly opened my eyes and stretched. I was drained, bordering on exhausted, when I sat in the kitchen holding my first cup of coffee for the day.
Every last detail I could remember from last night has been running through my mind, not to mention some highly erotic moments involving Kristof.
They hadn't actually happened, but I wished they had. Damn, he was sexy, and there was no doubt that I was attracted to him. Who wouldn't be?
So what did happen last night? Everything seemed surreal. This incredibly sexy, attractive specimen of manhood had walked into my life and said we were destined to be mated forever.
To top it off, this was all determined by some obscure Moon Goddess. I was not a religious person whatsoever. Typically, my warning bells would be going off majorly, but for some strange reason, they weren't.
Still sitting at the kitchen table, now nursing a lukewarm cup of coffee, I found my mind focusing back on Kristof. When I first saw him across the crowded floor at the nightclub, it was as if no one else existed at that time or space.
Obviously, he'd been surrounded by people, many of whom had been quite attractive women, but he'd ignored them all. His eyes had been solely fixed on mine. That made me feel a little better because I didn't like the feelings of jealousy stirring in me. That wasn't like me at all.
Although Kristof had been totally clothed in a well-tailored suit, he was tall and broad-shouldered. Something about a man in a suit made him all the more irresistible. To top it off, there was no fat on him as far as I could see, so I wondered if he worked out at a gym and how muscled he would be.
When he had grabbed me to stop me from falling, I had gotten a sense of how strong he was, but had also felt how hard his chest was when I had accidentally touched him.
This train of thought was not helping me make sense of it all. I needed to concentrate on all the information from last night. So werewolves exist, but not like Hollywood. They follow the Moon Goddess. My estranged cousin, Tyra was also a werewolf and had mated with Cassandra. Cool, LGBT werewolves were a thing. Zara was hooking up with Noah, who was also a werewolf and Cassandra's elder brother.
Finally, there was Kristof, who was their Alpha which meant their leader. If I believed everything, then I would mate with Kristof and become a werewolf myself.
It was a lot to take in, and for the second time this morning, I was using the term surreal. It totally was. More importantly, I wanted to kiss Kristof. I think his lips would be soft despite his evident strength.
Forget "train" of thought, more like "Roomba" of thought. Aargh! I need to go and take Axel for a run before I get too horny thinking about Kristof.
