The next morning.
Syl was out training with Koenji and going for a run when the morning alarm sounded to wake everyone up.
In the cabin the students in their group were freaking out that the two were missing and wondering what happened.
Eventually the two came back and saw all the others gawking at them.
"What were you doing?!" Yukimura asked angrily.
Syl looked confused. "Running. Why?"
"Where were you?! That alarm just went off!"
"Uhh… I just told you, we were running." Syl then leaned into Koenji's ear. "Is this guy deaf or something?"
"Fufu. The rabble always make such simple mistakes, you get used to it. I've come to expect it from imperfect individuals other than myself."
Syl nodded. "Must be tough not being perfect, I could never relate."
Koenji just laughed and walked away thinking that Syl was one of the imperfect fools.
Yukimura was fuming at being ignored and the two's reactions. "Just be ready next time!"
Syl looked at him like he was an idiot. "But, we were ready before you? Shouldn't you get ready earlier?"
Yukimura's eyebrows twitch. "Just cause you were awake doesn't mean that you were ready to start activities! We had to wait 5 minutes for you!"
"Bacon shamacon, who cares?" Syl waved him off.
"EVERYONE ELSE!"
Syl shrugged. "Do you guys really care that much?"
Albert, Ishizaki, Hashimoto and the two class B students shook their heads no.
"See? It's not a big deal." Syl said. "Now I'm going to go shower."
"There is no shower." Hashimoto commented.
"Then I'll find one." Syl replied.
Syl walked outside without a second thought.
He eventually found a small waterfall and used it as a shower.
When he showed back up, the group (Mostly Yukimura) Was livid at Koenji for not listening to them or caring about what they think.
The group then eventually went to the Zazen lesson.
Syl was surprisingly really good at this.
You'd think he'd be bouncing off the walls and ignoring the instructor but he just sat there and listened to everything while meditating.
Little did everyone else know that he had been doing this everyday for a while in order to improve his mana core, which is what he was doing right now.
He was actually a pro at meditation by now.
However, one person was dragging the group down right now.
Yahiko was struggling to meditate the entire time and it was starting to piss off his group members who were getting bad evaluations because of him.
After the Zazen the group approached Yahiko. "What are you doing?! Are you trying to make us come in last??"
"I-I'm not! I don't know what happened! I just felt really scared all of a sudden! I thought I would pass out!"
"There is no way we would believe that. Nothing was wrong in that room, it's not even like it was hot or something." Tokito replied, slightly annoyed.
"I swear! I'm not lying!"
Tokito sighed and walked away. "Just do better next time."
Yahiko was slightly annoyed but nonetheless accepted it with a grim look on his face as Hashimoto tried to cheer him up.
After that everyone went to get breakfast.
The rest of the day was a very similar pattern. The group was doing very poorly in the exam with Tokito struggling to keep the group together and encourage them to do better. He was even struggling in one or two of the lessons.
A sense of dread and minor annoyance hung over the group as the day came to an end. Even Yukimura was less upset at Koenji and Syl because the two were doing fine in the exams whereas the other students were struggling more.
At this rate it looked like they might have a good chance at being one of the lower ranked groups.
Even Ayanokoji went to Koenji to ask him to help the group a little and see if he could prevent any expulsions within the group.
Koenji unsurprisingly refused.
Ayanokoji was slightly nervous that the leader might take one of the class D students with him if he failed, including taking Koenji or Syl.
Syl was currently over with Albert, talking to him in english and having a good time.
Then it came time for dinner.
During dinner Ayanokoji and Kei secretly met up.
"How's your group?" Ayanokoji asked.
Kei smiled. "It's great, it's going perfectly according to Horikita's plan."
"Horikita's plan?"
Kei nodded. "Your group is the same right?"
"I'm not sure." Ayanokoji mumbled thinking about what might be going on.
Kei tried to continue the conversation but we distracted by something else happening.
In the middle of the dinning hall Syl, Ike, Sudo, and Yamauchi were hanging out and talking.
Yamauchi wasn't paying attention to where he was going.
Syl noticed what was about to happen a step too late.
Yamauchi bumped into someone and knocked them over, but Syl caught them before they could fall.
"Ah? Sorry." Yamauchi continued walking with Ike and Sudo after 'apologizing'.
Syl sighed as he held Sakayanagi up and helped her back to her feet.
"No chance you're going to let that one slide because I caught you right?"
"Fufufu. It's fine. There's no issue." She replied smugly.
Syl started sweating. "Your tone is a little…"
"If someone knocks you down, it's only natural to do the same. No issues, right?"
Syl sighed. "Well, I'm just glad you're alright. Also, you don't happen to want to 'knock me down' too, right?"
"Fufu. Of course not, I must thank you again for helping me. It's embarrassing that this is becoming a routine."
"Don't worry about it, I don't mind helping out a cute girl, it's my pleasure." Syl said as he flashed a smile.
"Fufufu. It's a relief to hear you think I'm cute."
Syl chuckled. "Of course you are. You're also absolutely terrifying."
"I'm so happy to hear that, I might just fall in love." She joked.
Syl smiled wryly. "You know, this is what I meant when I told you dad it was terrifying to talk to you. I feel like I'm walking on eggshells. No matter what I say it's wrong."
Sakayanagi looked shocked. "Thank you for the praise, but when did you meet my father?"
Syl cursed under his breath. What? Nothing? Who said that? Woah! Crazy weather we're having!"
"Fufufufu. A secret is it?"
Syl clicked his tongue. "This is exactly what I mean! I can't say anything! I'm walking on eggshells!"
He turned and walked away.
"We should do this again sometime!" Sakayanagi called out after him.
"You're just interrogating me! I won't lose next time! Mark my words! The lord of the flies never loses!" Syl called back.
"Fufufufu. So many interesting people." Sakanagi mumbled to herself as her eyes traced from Syl to Ryuuen to Ichinose and eventually fell on Ayanokoji.
I'm on vacation and in the middle of midterms right now so don't expect like 4-5 chapters a day. I don't even know how much I'll post. I'm just going to post when I want to. I'll post more after this week.
