20% The Alpha King's Last Bride / Chapter 4: His confusion

Capítulo 4: His confusion

Erotic moans filled the air as a couple duelled in bed. It was mostly from the female who lay beneath the mighty male figure.

The bed was big enough to accommodate more than two. Yet, confined under his body, she felt as though the space wasn't enough.

Silvie couldn't hide the smile in her eyes as her lips produced lewd words, "Yes! That feels so good, my King! Aaah, just like that!"

The man above her looked irritated by the noise she was making. It was a reminder that the one beneath him wasn't a certain emerald-eyed beauty.

The woman set his heart into a chaotic rhythm. His hands unconsciously kneaded the woman's breast roughly.

Silvie moaned out once again, "Please, more." She was already breathless when he hardly did anything.

They began not too long ago. Regrettably, once again, his desire was doused in cold water. This wasn't the person he wanted beneath him.

His hormones were raging, making his blood boil. He was feeling needy, both emotionally and physically.

Despite the need coursing through him, the woman beneath him wasn't her. He snickered in ridicule as he moved his naked body off of her frame.

He felt no shame as he strode away with a purpose towards the golden chair in the room. His clothes were soon held in his hands.

The woman lying in bed looked confused for an entire minute. She was already aroused from his rough touches.

A look of frustration passed through her face. "My King, what is going on? You never stop! Why did you stop?"

Due to the sexual frustration he caused, she forgot how ruthless he could be. The only reply she got was silence as the man continued throwing his clothes on.

Regrettably, his lack of reply only encouraged her to ask. She began to whine about how she wanted him. The more she spoke, the more irritated he got.

At one point, his sharp gaze fell on the flower vase resting nearby. Without a single thought, he picked it up and threw it at the wall.

The sound of breaking glass filled the air. He didn't look back to see whether the woman was hurt.

Silvie was shaken to the core. She finally got the wake-up call she needed. Her sexual frustration was forgotten as she tried to calm her beating heart.

Atlas strode away, making the guards and maids shake in fear. He was a ruthless king. One who was both respected and feared by his people.

Albeit his ruthlessness, the King was a man who ruled justly and upheld righteousness. These traits worked well in his favour.

He was respected for his way of ruling and was feared for his brutality. This was what made his authority unchallenged.

Many men coveted his position, but none qualified for it. Nonetheless, it didn't stop them from trying to gain his favour.

Whether through giving him their mates or selling off their daughter, anything worked. Power was what men craved.

Women were no exception. They sought the power he could give them. Atlas knew all this.

All his life, he believed that a King had no mate. Since time immemorial, this belief was proven to be true.

None of the Kings before him was blessed with a fated mate. All of them chose suitable candidates to produce the next heirs.

That was the norm. It was what he knew and what the entire kingdom believed to be true.

Until he saw her and his heart recognized her. His mate. He was confused. He was not supposed to have a mate.

Why then was there someone like that? Why was he given one? Was everything he once believed in a lie?

He needed an explanation, but he knew that he wouldn't get any. No one could give him the answers he sorted.

Following this series of emotional turmoil and his lack of understanding, he felt irritated.

Recalling how she ran away from him did not improve his mood a bit. It only fueled his anger, making the air around him freeze.

Everyone he passed by panicked. He didn't pay them any attention as he finally settled in his office.

He could hardly concentrate on the work at hand. His body required release. His heart longed for someone he knew nothing about.

A battle was taking place in his body. His heart and mind conflicted with each other.

Hence, he threw the paper in his hand.

The ink stone by his desk was knocked off, breaking into pieces. He didn't realize the amount of strength he used until he saw the broken inkstone.

Rowan looked up from his desk, where he was sorting out some papers. Atlas ignored his presence the entire time, which was peculiar.

His King, also his best friend, would at least throw some words of greeting at him. He placed the paper away and studied Atlas for a while.

"What's got the big bad wolf's pants twisted today? Didn't get a dose of your favourite slut?"

The King threw him a glare, ignoring his question. It was then that Rowan got a whiff of the feminine perfume. The Beta chuckled as a thought passed through his mind.

"Oh my God! I think I know what happened. Silvie got worse in bed again? Aaah man! That's such a bummer. What a pit …."

A flower vase was thrown his way before he could complete his sentence. He managed to dodge it in time. One look at Atlas, and he knew the situation was serious.

This time, the Beta no longer played around. His face took on a serious and worried appearance as he faced his friend.

"Atlas, what happened? Why are you like this?"

The King sighed. He could no longer resist his friend's probing questions.

He could feel the concern and worry in his tone. Atlas rubbed at his temple, trying to calm down. He needed to be level-headed for his own good.

Rowan did not pressure him. He waited patiently for Atlas to tell him what was going on. He could feel the severity of the situation from how the King was acting.

"I met my mate today!"

Rowan's jaws dropped to the floor in shock. His eyes bulged out, not believing what his friend just said.

‘How is it possible? The Kings are not bestowed mates. Is Atlas pulling his leg?’ Rowan thought.

One look, and he was sure the King was not joking. When he managed to compose himself, he asked in disbelief, “Where? How?"

Atlas felt a little better after seeing his friend's reaction to the news. It assured him that his reaction was valid.

His confusion wasn't displaced either. He found comfort in his friend's confusion. Did that make him a sadist?

He didn't care. He took a deep breath and began to recount his meeting with her. His mate.
