Capítulo 9: I don't need any nusiance
Junwei took a hot water shower and came out of the shower room. He wrapped a towel around his lower body, and came towards the mirror. He looked at his face and sighed.
"I should not have gotten angry at Grandpa," he mumbled.
Drying his hair with the towel first, he picked up the hairdryer and dried his hair.
"I won't spare her," He muttered under his breath.
After a while, he came out of the washroom and went towards the cupboard. He took a white t-shirt and black track pants. Changing into them, he picked the phone when his mother knocked at the door and came inside.
"Mom." He put the phone inside his pocket.
"Dinner is ready," Katie told him. Junwei nodded his head when the phone in his pocket started to vibrate. His mother told him to answer the call and walked out of his room. Junwei took out the phone and brought it near his ear.
"Yes, Wang Zexi. What happened?" He asked.
"Sir, Miss Lin has posted a picture with you and it is creating sparks all over the social media network. Netizens are saying that you two are in a relationship!" Wang Zexi worriedly said.
"Wang Zexi, it is not important news to me. Don't bring such matters to me and handle them on your own," he ended up raising his voice at him.
"But, Sir—"
Wang Zexi had not even completed his words when Junwei hung up the call and put the phone on the table.
Junwei came out of his room and went to the dining room where his grandfather and mother were waiting for him. He pulled out a chair for him and sat on it.
"Grandpa, forgive me for my earlier behavior," Junwei apologized to Yu Ziyang. He didn't mean to leave the conversation in the middle. For some random woman, he should not take out his anger on his family.
Katie served them the food and sat on the chair opposite Junwei, facing him.
"I was never angry," Yu Ziyang said, and picked up the spoon. "It is fun to tease you," he added and smiled.
Junwei's lips also curled up into a tiny smile. He started eating and a pin drop silence persisted between them. Yu Ziyang decided to break the ice.
"Junwei, you are in your late twenties. When will you get married?" Yu Ziyang asked him. Junwei stopped eating while his mother glanced at him.
"Grandpa, let's not talk about this. I am still young and have many things to do," Junwei stated with a menacing expression.
"My friends' grandsons and granddaughters have gotten married. They asked me about you. Do you want me to say this?" Yu Ziyang arched his brows.
"Why not? I am still in the process of taking the company to a greater height," asserted Junwei. "Also, at this age, a person must focus on himself rather than get involved with a second person," he opined.
"Then, when will you marry? When, I will leave this body! I want to see you settled in life. I want to see my grandchild before taking my last breath," Yu Ziyang grumbled.
"I also think Junwei should start dating. Two weeks ago, I met my university friend. She has two granddaughters. Her son got married when he was 26. She was asking me about you," Katie said and looked at Junwei.
"You both know why I can't marry," Junwei said, and his face turned gloomy.
"Feng Jiao's parents were asking about you. We met in the USA last week. They also want you to move on," Yu Ziyang said. Junwei peered at him and shook his head.
"It's not easy, Grandpa. Let's not talk about it anymore," Junwei requested to both of them.
Katie gestured to Yu Ziyang that she would talk to Junwei after dinner. They silently finished their dinner. Junwei wished them good night and went to the bedroom.
Katie sent Yu Ziyang to his room. She gave him the medicine and asked him not to worry about Junwei.
"He is yearning for her. Ten years have already passed and he is still there... in her memories. It hurts to see my grandchild this way. He has buried himself in work. I wonder when he will smile again with his heart," Yu Ziyang said as his eyes turned misty.
"Father, Junwei will surely find someone. He had planned everything in his life. However, the sudden demise of Feng Jiao broke him apart. That's why he had made walls around him. I believe that there will surely be a woman who will break those walls," Katie assured Yu Ziyang. However, she knew that Junwei would never let any woman get close to him.
"What about Miss Lin?" Yu Ziyang suddenly opined with an excited look. "When they were both arguing, I felt happy," Yu Ziyang stated.
"Father, Miss Lin is a nice woman, but I do not think she would think about dating our Junwei. Father knows well that most of the actresses marry late and usually marry actors or directors," Katie opined.
"I would be happy if they had both dated each other," Yu Ziyang said. "The event which Miss Lin was talking about is the best way to bring them together. What do you say!?" He amusedly smiled.
"I cannot guarantee that, Father. Junwei isn't the type to forget everything and move on. Let's give him a little time," Katie suggested to Yu Ziyang.
"Okay. If I find he's not ready to move on, then I will take action. He cannot stay this way throughout his life," Yu Ziyang asserted. Katie hummed and asked him to sleep. She wished him good night before heading to Junwei's bedroom.
Junwei was on the porch on the swing. He had his eyes closed while he had wireless earphones in his ears. He was so lost in the music that he didn't realize his mother had come to see him until she settled beside him on the swing.
Junwei opened his eyes and took out the earbuds.
"Sorry, I was listening to music," Junwei said, and put the earbuds inside his pocket. He turned off the screen of his phone and asked his mother why she wasn't asleep.
"I slept in the day," Katie replied.
"Did you not miss us? You didn't even come to see us in the States," Katie complained.
"I did miss you both. I could not come since I had some targets to complete," Junwei answered.
Katie lifted her hand and put it on her son's back. She caressed it. "You always work. Take some leave from work and enjoy your life," she suggested to him.
"What will I do after taking leave? I can't take leave because this year I have some important projects to finish," Junwei said as he rubbed his hands together.
"Take your grandfather and mother out on a date," Katie told him.
"Where would you both like to go?" Junwei inquired and glanced at her.
"You should decide that, son," Katie told him.
"I will search for a few places for dinner," Junwei replied. "Umm... from tomorrow, a maid will come to do the household chores," he informed Katie.
Katie pulled her hand back and said, "Father is concerned for your future." This time she held his hand and caressed it. "You may need a partner after awhile," she added.
"I understand Grandpa's worries for me, but my work is enough to keep me busy," he stated. "I won't ever get bored of it, nor will it leave me. That's better than keeping any close relationship with humans," Junwei answered.
"But we need love and care too, son," Katie tried to make him understand.
"Mom, I don't need that. I am happy in my present. I don't need any nuisance in my life," Junwei stated.
"How is it a nuisance?" Katie was bewildered by his statement.
"It's tough to explain," Junwei replied. "I am going to bed. You should sleep too," Junwei said. Katie understood that he was not interested in talking anymore, so she didn't force him to speak to her. She stood up and hugged Junwei.
"Goodnight, son," she said, and planted a soft kiss in the middle of his forehead.
"Goodnight, Mom."
Katie left for her room while Junwei went to bed.
