"- Oh great rulers of the north beseech my word
On the way to the great forest
On a trail of snow that treaded through your
Oncoming great bodies that would bless
The children of the ice and snow
The tree grows from the frozen lake
Towards the sky filled with frost and cloud
Light looms around the corner of the sky
Leaving the beauty of its majestic trail
Lord of snow is beseeching us with its breath
Lonely curse of the night embraces us
We burn the woods with the echo of past
Words of our ancestors were chanted
Will of yours creates the everlasting look of fate
Wind of the north envelopes every being
Burning fire deep in the mountain
Built with howls of thousands of ice
Blesses its people with the warmth of the first
Be free in these fields while marching with the last"
Rapthecora sang in the dead of night, looking at the cold sky with her eyes that foreshadowed the fate of many. She was tired and cold in this warm weather because the wind of the north was begging her for her return. She had to return to her homeland, and stop that witch before the gods create a rampage through the land.
The cold gods of the north weren't benevolent as the southern gods. They would wreak havoc in order to destroy the maggot in their territory, inflicting countless damages to the mortals. The might of God wasn't conceivable to the mortal, the authority and the law of their bodies were closely entangled with the will of the universe and the world.
For the world and their will, the gods would do absolutely horrendous things to those who foolishly venture into the darkness of eternity. The very essence of gods was shown in the ancient War between them. She wasn't willing to bring the wrath of gods to her land which destroyed and froze everything on its way since the oldest God of the north was gone.
Although most of them were benevolent to their followers, sharing the blessing of their power, that didn't apply to other areas. The very ecology of this forest and other countries would be ruined and there might be a possibility that they would end up like North. Thus she was seeking help from other races except humans who would demand something outrageous from her. She saw the true nature of them long time ago, perhaps those scars of the past were preventing her.
" Why aren't you sleeping, elf? Are you looking at the river of stars?"
Turkan leaned on the frame, looking at her with his calm eyes and bare body. Unlike his people, he was wise and had the quality of being a leader. Therefore, the barbarians showed great respect to him even though he was a young man. He heeded no doubt to her words as he followed her with his best men to ensure her safety.
" Do you think this war would end? Roxan has a new king and our power is weak without the help of other northern tribes and humans. Even our kin is showing hesitation towards ice witch. She is beyond normal mortal level after all."
Rapthecora whispered, revealing her inner thoughts to the chief of barbarians. Turkan never knew that she was holding such a burden on her shoulders. The role of being the leader of his men was heavy enough, he couldn't imagine the role of the queen of the elves and vengeance. Those who had something to protect were trustworthy in his opinion and she was one of them.
" It doesn't matter to us. We will fight and die for our people and that is it. Whether she goes to the south, or clash with others, they are beyond our control."
Turkain said, taking out a leather sack from his pocket. He opened the sack as the strong smell of alcohol permeated through the air, tickling the nose of Rapthecora who enjoyed the strong alcohol.
" That is a good wine. Have you made it from elyak? I heard your tribe is famous for their products."
Rapthecora smiled while putting her focus on the sack. She really wanted to savor such a drink because she rarely had a chance to drink alcohol. Her queen's role was prohibiting her to drink any type of alcohol since she was regarded as one of the emissaries of the world tree.
