The spirit looked at Lua with pity since she lost her closest relatives. She knew this child would have a scar that can't be erased by the time others would heal. She would bear the sigma of powerlessness for the rest of her life with guilt and regret.
The spirit formed a single light orb on her hand as a parting gift for her. The light particles gently wrapped around her and melted into her skin like it was water.
Lua felt a refreshing breeze all over her body. Her skin got smoother and her complexion became even healthier than before, but her heart was thumping harder for no reason.
The corner of her eyes teared up with a tear, her clothes were drenched with the smell of sadness. She tried her best to maintain her smile, but it was meaningless in front of the sad department.
" Don't cry. Someday, you will meet new people and travel with them around the world. You will see things that I couldn't see and hear things that I couldn't hear. Although our meeting was short, you have to know I love you, Lua. You are the brightest child, I have ever seen. Don't lose your faith."
The spirit said as her voice grew fainter and fainter. Lua could see her figure was slowly disintegrating to the source of her existence, she was becoming part of nature. Her gentle smile mixed with moonlight looked like the brightest light that shone up to the sky.
Lua extended her hand to touch her face, but she couldn't reach her. She was too close, yet too far away from her. Her tears-drenched face wasn't able to quench the thirst of death. Death took away the light which illuminated the continent for eons.
Swoosh*
A single petal of a withering tree landed on her palm. Lua felt warm in her heart. She walked towards the tree and hugged it for the last time.
Her fingers danced through the body of the sacred tree as they were reminiscing memories.
" Goodbye!"
The tree lost its luster as its flowers withered away in the wind. The wind silently carried away the mourning of the world with its soft touch.
However, she didn't know something was happening in her blind spot. The red and black sludge slowly crept down through the shadow, looking for prey for its hunger. The darkness that was hiding in the corner, was released into the world. It shouldn't have existed in the first place, but it was made from the anger of nature and darkness itself.
Chaos, darkness, hatred, greed, and everything that could be called evil gathered in this newly-born spirit. It didn't have any compassion like the Harmony or the shrewdness of the witch.
" Kill!"
The spirit murmured, looking down to the stairs. It slowly descended to the place where it felt the most hatred. Its disgusting figure slowly walked to the corpse which was burned to a crisp. Disfigured face, burnt flesh, and dried blood were all over the stairs. The cracks of the stairs were seeping with emotions it was drooling for.
" You!"
The corpse opened its charred mouth, baring its teeth. Lao extended his hand to touch this thing instinctively. His dying breath was attracted to the breath of hatred.
The spirit opened its mouth and engulfed his body. The delicate taste of emotions filled its body as it grew into something.
It grew skeleton, it grew muscles, it grew skin and finally, it grew the face of him, but its face was distorted with pain.
" Why are you disobeying me?"
Darkness asked, looking for the answer. He identified Lao as the weakest prey, but he was wrong. Lao didn't give up even though he was engulfed by it.
The colors of their existences were mixed in the pool of fate. Darkness and human shouldn't exist together in the first place.
Darkness tried to seal Lao's mind, but he wasn't budging at all. Although Lao wanted revenge, he wasn't foolish enough to wish for the demise of the living beings.
" If I can't be you, you will be me."
Darkness whispered, looking into his eyes. Lao simply opened his arms and accepted his fate.
