Capítulo 25: Chapter 22 Border mission
An hour passed in a blink of an eye. Within an hour all members have finished their preparation.
Licht and his squad were standing in front of the barracks with a big pile of suitcases most of which belonged to the women. Of course, Daemon and Mihael packed lightly compared to others because they used to travel a lot.
As for our boy, he was wearing light armor with a blade sigma on the chest. His hair was neatly combed like usual. Most importantly, he was holding his sword without any cover. Even with its sheath, it couldn't hide its beauty and drew many soldiers' attention to it.
Licht acted like he didn't see their envy, he gazed at his time and said with a light tone.
" She is late. What is taking it so long?"
Daemon crossed his arms and grumbled.
" Women, they are always late. Vice-captain, should we leave without her? We are going to be late for our train."
Windsor Fortress had a huge railroad system that was built recently. They created a massive railroad system for other cities and fortresses throughout the country. However, it was still expensive to ride one because they were rare and luxurious. Only soldiers, knights, mages, merchants, and nobles rode this vehicle for more convenient travel.
Cynthia tilted her with confusion because she didn't know they were boarding a train, not a portal.
She tugged Licht's sleeves and asked with confusion.
" Aren't we going through a portal? North West border is a bit too far away from here."
Licht shook his head with a sigh. He knew this girl had a little common sense about society.
" Portals are strategic level things. We can't use them without the permission of the royal family. Even fortress master cannot casually activate one due to his duty."
Cynthia nodded like a rabbit. However, her eyes darted around to hide her feelings. She used to use this strategic weapon for her convenience and she hadn't told this to anyone before. She thought it was a normal thing due to their minimal consumption of magical stones.
Step, step*
Regina came out with a simple suitcase. She looked around and saw a huge pile of mess in front of her. Her brows slightly creased.
" Where do you think going? A picnic? Leave the useless stuff to the army staff. We are going on a recon mission."
Cynthia immediately rushed to the barracks. She called out to the staff and handed her suitcases and her note. The staff recognize her ID and agreed to her request.
20 minutes later, they had successfully boarded the train. They put down their luggage in their respective seats and proceeded to take out their rations because they didn't get an allowance for their food on the train.
Regina took out the mission notice and scanned around them. Fortunately, there were no people beside them in this wagon.
She raised her voice and said seriously.
" Our mission is to scout the forest area in the northern region. We will meet with the ' Blue Lion ' army special squad and proceed to the designated location. From then we will scout the area and write a report about it."
Mikael folded his arms with deep thought. He couldn't help to feel critical because the northern area was covered with ice and they were many powerful tribes in the north. Especially, trolls and orcs are enough to threaten the northern forces.
He asked with a sharp look on his face.
" But, isn't the forest dangerous to the humans? We might face the trolls and the orcs. Especially, what will happen if we encounter the war chiefs?"
Regina placed her arms on the table and looked at her with a serious look. Her expression wasn't that good because he was telling the truth.
" I understand your concern, but it will be fine since we are still freshmen. They wouldn't give a suicide mission to us."
Although Regina had said this, secretly she was worried. This area was in the territory of the trolls. Trolls are a race with superb regeneration power. They are war chiefs that could rival a great knight in combat and defeat them most of the time. Moreover, some chiefs had a long-distance attack method.
