Capítulo 8: Chp 8: Pokeblock

After Vic had learned how to use aura, he made a few changes to his daily schedule. His aura training still continued, but the time was cut short. The rest of his time was spent on reading Grandma Cici's notes and making the basic pokeblock.

Vic had not finished reading the rest of Grandma Cici's notebook yet because it was far too difficult for him to understand. He had a hard time making sense of the technical jargon inside. Still, he was hoping he could learn more about pokeblock when he got to the Pokemon school.

The pokeblock practice went smoothly. After countless failures, Vic had finally gotten the hang of it. His success rate was steadily increasing as he made more and more pokeblock.

The pokeblock he made was no longer as hard as he used to make in the beginning. It was very soft and in a perfect cube shape. Based on his experience working in the Day Care, he determined that the quality of his pokeblock was somewhere around mid-level.

Vic was very satisfied with this. He wasn't pinning on getting high-quality ones. He knew he needed more practice if he wanted to produce a pokeblock of that level. Frankly, he wasn't even sure if he could make one.

"Come here, Zorua! I have something for you to try!" Vic was eager to show Zorua his first successful attempt at making a good-quality pokeblock.

Zorua got up from where he was sitting, climbed onto the table, and stared down at the pokeblock in his palm. He gulped loudly, then turned to Vic with a whining voice.

"I know, I know. Here, tell me what you think," Vic said, placing the pokeblock in front of Zorua.

Zorua quickly snatched the pokeblock and ate it in one go. He licked his lips and turned his gaze toward Vic, asking for more.

"Zorua!"

Vic shook his head helplessly. "I'm sorry, but I only made one."

Zorua whined and lowered his ears slightly. He was disappointed that there wasn't any more pokeblock. He really enjoyed the taste of it.

Vic saw this and knew it was the chance he had been waiting for.

"Would you like to be my Pokemon?" Vic asked as he drew nearer to Zorua. "You can have more of what you just ate in the future, I assure you. What do you say? I hope we can work together as a team."

Pokemon were simple creatures who lived according to their natural instincts, but that did not make them stupid. Especially Zorua, who had been through a lot despite being at a tender age.

Hearing what Vic said, suddenly made Zorua wary. His mind flashed back to the suffering he'd endured in the past where he was being hunted down. As he was thinking of running away again, Vic's voice jolted him back to reality.

"When we first met, you had wounds all over your body, and I can't help but wonder what you went through at such a young age. I know you're afraid, but just running away would not change anything. Follow me. No matter what kind of enemy we'll face in the future, I promise you we will face it together."

Vic finished explaining. Just now, he remembered that this little guy was not like the dog he raised in his previous life. He knew Zorua had bad experiences with trainers in the past. Right now, the only thing he could do was wait.

Although Vic would be sad if Zorua refused, there was not much he could do. He didn't think it was worth the trouble to deal with a Pokemon who disobeyed your order. Not to mention, Zorua was stronger than him. He couldn't even force him if he wanted to.

Vic, who had his eyes closed, suddenly felt a touch on his hand. When he opened his eyes, he saw Zorua staring directly at him.

Vic's moving speech had touched Zorua, and after giving Vic another look, he immediately ran into Vic's arms, knocking him to the ground. He realised he had used too much force and hung his head in embarrassment.

Vic didn't mind that, though. Despite the discomfort in his chest, he felt ecstatic right now. He at last had a Pokemon of his own, a trusted companion whom he could rely on.

After some time, Vic set Zorua down and got up. From the drawer, he pulled a regular pokeball that he had bought a long time ago and held it out in front of Zorua.

"Come on, Zorua."

Under Vic's encouraging eyes, Zorua raised his paw and pressed on the switch of the pokeball. A red light flashed at Zorua when it flung open. Shortly after, the pokeball slammed shut, and Zorua was no more to be seen. He had been pulled inside the pokeball.

The pokeball started shaking, but since Zorua had no intention of putting up any resistance, it quickly stopped. The switch flashed red and success! Zorua had been captured.

"Come out, Zorua."

Vic promptly released Zorua. He would rather let Zorua stay outside of the pokeball. Not only could they get along better, but he could also serve as his bodyguard. Pokemon were much more perceptive than humans.

Zorua came out of the pokeball looking confused. That was a very strange experience, he reflected as he shook his head to clear his head.

After asking Zorua a few questions, Vic learned that there was no problem inside the pokeball. This made him breathe a sigh of relief. In fact, according to Zorua, It was very comfortable inside.

This made Vic think. It made perfect sense that a trainer would need to grasp aura before using a pokeball. Aura, according to the training guide, had a slight calming effect on Pokemon. This was the reason why wild Pokemon complied with the trainer after being captured.

Obviously, the reality was very different from the game and the anime. Some Pokemon were very aggressive at first, yet they soon grew tame after being captured. It was all because of aura.
