Chapter 23: Hysteria at 12

Recap:

Paying attention to his condition, Suijin did feel less pain, though the wobbliness substituting it wasn't much better.

Giving him a candy she dragged Suijin to the front door and before he knew it he was in the hallway while she was inside the room.

"You should watch your friend at the gym. Most of the muscles in his arm were torn up, and would leave scarves if left unattended too."

Closing the door Suijin stood there for a moment before continuing on his path to the classroom wondering what he would say for his lateness.

Behind Recovery Girl, known by her colleagues as Chiyo Shuzenji threw out and put away the dirty and excess materials.

"These boys sure are like "them" albeit having a better relationship. I just hope they don't also have the penchant for disaster as the others. Though it's unlikely, there are still only heroes in training, so it's unlikely they face anything dangerous soon."

Unaware of the effects her words would have she continued with her activities as Suijin opened the door to his classmates, instantly facing 30+ eyes.

"Great of you to join us, Shimizu."

____________________________________________________________________________

Suijin didn't plan on trying to explain why he was late, one thing he noticed is that the teachers at this school each have their own unique personality quirks.

But one thing they had in common was interrupting people. So looking down slightly Suijin just stared at the tiles momentarily.

Aizawa rubbed his eyes hoping to erase this feeling of tiredness.

*Sigh*

"I'm assuming it's the same reason as Shoji? Just sit down, you can explain it here after lunch."

A sheepish Suijin walked to his seat ignoring the stares of his classmates. Meanwhile, Aizawa started squirting eye drops into his eyes.

Once the bottle was empty he threw it out and grabbed a new one.

'How many does he go through in a week?'

Part of the class thought collectively. When Suijin got himself settled he looked up at Mina's pensive stare as if saying 'What happened.'

Suijin responded with various gestures, first shaking his head side to side meaning 'No' then pointing down, the combined meaning 'Not now.'

He then made an eating gesture, (not the way he does but how everyone else does) where he picked up imaginary food, put it close to his mouth, then rubbed his belly, thus translating to 'lunch'.

"If everyone could stop playing charades we can get back to the lesson."

Aizawa again looked to see Suijins head protruding down.

"As I was saying, it's about some domestic homeroom things."

'Is it a quiz?'x20

"It's time to choose a class president."

Despite the unenthusiastic tone when speaking, the entire class erupted.

Instantly shouts appear, all along the line of "I want to be the class president" reverberating around the walls.

'Class President, that takes me back.'

Suijin remembered the days when he'd run rigorously through the school, being more of a teacher's dog than a helpful advisor.

Students treated him like an outsider unless they needed something, and the teachers ran him ragged for the smallest thing.

Maybe their coffee wasn't the right temperature, or they forgot to make scans of the paper. There was even one teacher who had him go to their house to grab the purse they'd forgotten.

'Worth it though.'

Although he did all that the payout was worth it, he gained access to the school teacher's computers.

'You know, it's weird. The school computers were connected to the government website which had a record of all children in school and their connections.'

Suijin found a jackpot worth of secrets, heroes who have secret love children, specialties of people quirks, etc.

'I planned on using that info in the future to help Shoji, but maybe I'll help myself.'

Speaking of Shoji, Suijin turned around and made eye contact with him. Shoji nodded his head up, communicating without talking.

'You?'

Suijin shook his head.

'Nah.'

"-OUR TRUE LEADER MUST BE CHOSEN BY ELECTION! WILL YOU ALLOW THIS SENSEI?!"

Aizawa the person in question, was already zipped up into his caterpillar-like sleeping bag.

"However you do it, just make it quick." With that, he lay down on the ground and shut his eyes.

Ida organized everything quickly, cutting up 5 pieces of paper into 4's, then distributing them, following that everyone began writing who they were voting for.

'Who should I vote for?... Shoji? Nah he's too isolated, I could do it myself, but I'm not particularly interested in being class pres. Guess Ida would work.'

So once Suijin finished he passed it up to the front. Within 5 minutes everyone's votes had been tallied.

'Wha-'

One name was listed with three tallies, Midoriya, then three names were listed with two tallies. Yaoyorozu, Ida, and Suijin himself.

His head snapped back to Shoji whose eyes shone with humor.

'But who was my other voter?'

"It seems Midoriya is our class president, I will forgo my running for Vice-President so competition between Shimizu and Yaoyorozu remains.

Suijin was about to announce his de-running for the place but the bell beat him to it.

*RING*

Everyone grabbed their things rushing out of the classroom to be the first in line for Lunch Rushes food.

Suijin was in a barren classroom with only himself and Shoji still seated while Ida was organizing everything before walking out with his lunch.

Aizawa had sat up at some point while still being zipped up in the sleeping bag.

"So, the reason you two were late?"

***

"An extra week of cleaning shifts?"

"YAY!" Noticing the stares coming their way Mina apologized in a quieter voice.

Looking at Suijin whose entire being felt pissed off she couldn't help but explain her outburst,

"Sorry, but with both you and Shoji picking up a week's worth of classroom shifts it means that everyone gets to go home earlier."

*Sigh*

Suijin couldn't stay too mad so he nodded before digging into his lunch.

'Dad definitely going to turn up the training intensity after learning about this.'

Enjoying his meal Suijin engaged in the topic that's been on his mind since class.

'Who voted for me, I don't know too many of our classmates, I think Tsu would have picked some of the better candidates in the class. I know Shoji was one meaning the other should be..'

"Mina, did you vote for me for Class President?"

Mina gulped down her food and averted her eyes.

"Mina-"

*Exhale*

"-just, confirm with me next time."

Closing her eyes and clapping her hands in front of her facing Suijin, Mina said, "Sorry, you just seem like a great candidate. You're smart, have good leadership skills, and are one of the only people I know."

"Suijin, is there a reason you Don't want to be chosen?" It was Kirishima who brought this question up.

"Change," Suijin said it offhandedly but the sound produced spoke many stories.

Returning to silence, Suijin looked around the Cafeteria. Cliques already forming were observed by him.

'Those in the same class, people who have similar interests.'

Then he looked at his table, 'And those who unexpectedly came together due to certain circumstances.'

Suijin, Kirishima, Mina, and others from various classes were all at this table. Suijin continued observing his schoolmates when an unexpected visitor arrived.

A duo, the girl who seemed to be leading the other one was a fair-skinned girl whose irises were royal blue. Her hair is periwinkle, and it reaches all the way down to her knees, twisting around itself at her waist and curving inwards around her legs.

The male of the two had an unassuming presence, his messy, indigo hair, and thin, tired-looking eyes, partially covered by his bangs plus his hump starting to form in adolescence showed his introversion at first sight.

Suijin wasn't unaware of the duo, they were famous, practically the face of the upcoming UA student body.

"Hi, My name is Nejire Hado, and this-", Nejire pointed to the male, "-Is Tamaki Amajiki."

Mina's expression grew flustered and Kirishima's eyes had respect in them while reflecting the two.

'What could two of UA's big three need with freshman like us?'

"We're sorry to disturb you during your lunch break but if you don't mind we have some questions for you."

'Not that we have the option of declining.' Suijin thought as the unusual quietness and heated stares weighed on his mind.

"Sure."

"Great, we're in acquaintance with U.A.'s principal as well as the student council of the school, and on behalf of them we want to understand how freshmen such as yourself are finding your experience so far and if there's anything we can do or change to help."

'Problems?' Suijin thought back, not finding anything, in particular, to note on.

The floors were unusually clean, the staff seemed friendly enough, and the seating seemed to be of high quality as were most things here. Mina seemed to fall into a similar predicament.

"No not mu-"

"There is something-" Kirishima struck down a fist onto an open palm while his mouth made an "O" face.

"Finding certain facilities is a bit difficult with the lack of signs so maybe that's something you can work on."

"PPFFFT"

The senior who seemed to have created a serious atmosphere disappeared, and a more light-hearted one has ensured that fitted a conversation between teens.

"s-Sorry."

Wiping her face Nejiri said facing Kirishima, "Major areas like the gym, cafeteria, and fields were mentioned in the entrance ceremony-"

She didn't finish her statement but the words appeared in their minds.

'-The ceremony Class 1A didn't attend.'

Kirishima's face became the same color as his hair.

Wanting to save him from further teasing the older woman said, "But signs could indeed be helpful, especially with guests or forgetful freshmen."

*BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP*

[Security Level 3 has been Breached. All students evacuate in an orderly Fashion.]

Chaos broke out in the lunchroom, and everyone pushed to the exit in a state of panic.

"Isn't this U.A., what place could be safer."

"Did villains break into the place?"

"I wanna go home!"

Mass hysteria surrounds all students as they clambered trying to cram the entire freshman body through one door.

"Mina!"

Suijin's hand was separated from hers at some point as they were constantly pushed around.

He looked around the hall way trying to spot a familiar face eventually he caught sight of Ida...Who was floating above everyone and propelling himself toward the exit sign?

'Floating? Is Uraraka around here?' Lo and behold there she was a few feet below him.

'The exit, is he trying to lead everyone there.'

As Ida arrived at the exit he faced a new dilemma, nobody would be able to hear him. The alarm blared still and confused noises of panic were prevalent throughout the hall.

As he was thinking of a plan better than shouting his hand became 'wet'. Not just him but everyone in the hall felt mist sprayed on their heads.

They all collectively looked up and found Ida not too far ahead. Ida traced back the liquid to a conspicuous spray bottle in the crowd.

Not wasting this chance he spoke loudly ignoring the alarm.

"EVERYTHINGS FINE! IT'S JUST THE NEWS, THERE'S NOTHING TO PANIC ABOUT WE'RE ALL FINE. THIS IS U.A.! BEHAVE IN A MANNER BEFITTING THIS GREAT INSTITUTION."

Right when he finished, a powerful laser pointer flashed around the walls.

'It's pointing to the exit on both ends, along with pathways into other hallways leading to other exits.'

Suijin traced back the slender hand of a conspicuous woman whose height made her stand out in the crowd.

'Was that Yaoyorozu?'

Ida, coming to the same conclusion, nodded in that direction before continuing on with his speech.

"EVERYONE PLEASE SAFELY AND ORDERLY EXIT OUT OF THE NEAREST EXIT."

Due to the quick thinking of the three everything was resolved rather quickly.

"Sensei what happened at lunch?"

"Reporters got through the gate and we had to swiftly subdue them. Now Midoriya you had something to say to the class."

The nervous wreck of a boy walked up and bowed to everyone.

"I-i'm sorry to the three that voted for me. I can't live up to your expectations, after the lunchtime performance I believe I'm not suitable for the president."

"Midoriya, one incident can't define-"

"Ida thanks, however, I've thought it over and made my decision final." With that, he walked back to his seat.

Suijin, finding his chance, also spoke up.

"I too would like to resign from being vice president."

With that nobody was president and the vice president has been decided.

"How does this work then?"

"Yaoyorozu, due to the circumstances you were promoted to President," Aizawa said in an offhanded manner.

*Ahem*

Yaoyorozu cleared her throat before waking up at the podium.

"I'm honored to accept the position of president however I have conditions I how to have accepted, none too different from my contract however Ida and Shimizu both would be required to be my vice presidents."

"I'm not sure that's appropriate!"

"Second."

Naturally, the two in question disagree with the statement. Ignoring that however, she turned to their homeroom teacher.

"Sensei, your thoughts."

'He's a lazy individual so there's no agreeing to her proposal which should require more paperwork to be fil-'

"I agree."

'Wha-'

Turning around she flashed a smile, "I look forward to working with everyone."

'So she had that mischievous side to her as well. ' Suijin looked at Mina who also looked smugly back at him as if it were her idea, and she was taking credit.

'She spurred Mina on? How, I've been with her all day?'

Suijin was going to continue his thoughts but she stuck her tongue out at him and then turned around facing the front where the new President gave her congratulatory speech.

'On second thought it doesn't matter.'

Suijin also faced forward thankful for his Spray Bottle for a head as he felt it was extremely hot. Inwardly he was thinking of Mina's last action, mainly one phrase repeated on end in his mind.

'Cute.'

Meanwhile right after the Lunchroom incident, on their way back to class.

"So Tamaki how'd you think of those freshmen."

"Courageous and Bold."

"Indeed, moving without hesitation, having chemistry amongst themselves. the Freshman really get more interesting every year."
