Capítulo 174: Chapter 174: Flourish and Blotts Bookshop (Edited)

"You're the first wizard to be happy with our service!"

Fizbabu said in surprise, "The other wizards always dislike them for being too fast, but..."

"Time is money, my friend!"

The goblin shook his head, disgusted by the wizards' lack of appreciation for time.

Professor McGonagall snorted, interrupting the conversation, "In that case, let's not waste any more time and get my money out quickly."

She then turned to Fish and said, "We can sit down again on the way back."

Professor McGonagall didn't look too happy, but she managed a smile and said, "When we get out, we'll go buy you some new clothes and textbooks, and then we'll go to Florean Fortescue for ice cream."

Aside from the fact that she had promised Fish, Professor McGonagall felt she needed something cold to calm her churning stomach.

"Okay nya!" ?(●ΦωΦ●)?

Compared to the ice cream, the speedy mine cart was less important, and for a "walk", Fizbabu could still go to the Forbidden Forest to find the Treshtrals and Unicorns.

At that moment, Fizbabu unlocked the door and out of it came a green smoke that would put anyone who entered the chamber into a coma and alerted the Gringotts guards, one of Gringotts' defenses.

In reality, however, the smoke is more symbolic, as no wizard with any degree of competence or knowledge of Gringotts would fall into such a simple trap, which is even less useful than the vault door itself.

This is also because Professor McGonagall's vault is one of the least secure.

The more important the vault was, the further down it went, and the door was no longer locked, but had to be knocked on by a certified goblin to make it gradually disappear.

Anyone touching the door, except the goblins of Gringotts, would be sucked in and trapped inside.

The vaults of the older families are guarded by fire dragons and sphinxes, as well as a cascade against thieves, a replica spell for the vaults, and a fire spell.

These, of course, come at an additional cost, and goblins do not offer their services to wizards for free just because of their status, something even Voldemort could not do in his day.

When the smoke cleared, Fish followed Professor McGonagall into the vault, which was so full of gold and silver that copper coins were barely visible.

Professor McGonagall didn't spend much money, and her savings over the years were considerable.

She took a handful of gold galleons and another handful of sickles from the vault, stuffed them into her small bag, and then pulled Fish, who was rummaging through the pile of gold coins, out of the vault.

After another exciting walk through the mines, the two returned to the Gringotts hall and were escorted out of the doors by two goblin guards.

They first went to Lady Malkin's robe store, where they were greeted by the short, plump Lady Malkin.

"What pretty ears and tails you have."

Like everyone else, Lady Malkin couldn't resist the temptation of Fish's ears, and touched them several times as she measured Fish.

Then, when the kitten became impatient and the hair on his tail was already slightly bristling, she decided to end the measurement.

You can't run a business without a good eye.

After the completely unnecessary measurements, Mrs. Malkin brought out two sets of clothes in slightly different sizes and said to Professor McGonagall, "If you don't feel comfortable in them, feel free to bring Fish in and I'll have them fixed for you."

They then went to buy more potions, parchment, quills, ink, and other consumables, before finally entering the bookstore.

There were no customers in the bookstore at the time, but the manager and staff were busy, moving a large number of the same books to prominent places in the bookstore and placing pictures on the walls throughout the shop.

All the pictures showed the same man, a handsome man with wavy blond hair and eyes the color of Dumbledore's, wearing a dapper lilac robe and a spiked wizard hat of the same color tilted playfully on his head.

As soon as Fish and Professor McGonagall stepped through the door, the man of all pictures winked at them and smiled at him and Minerva in sync, showing a mouthful of straight white teeth.

Professor McGonagall, however, had an expression of utter disgust on her face when she saw the handsome man.

The only thing that interested Fish a little was the fact that... he had white teeth and could be quite good in a fight.

Although their teeth were not sharp, they looked strong and healthy enough, and in the cat evaluation system, those with good teeth tended to be good fighters, otherwise they would not show their sharp teeth to deter their enemies when they fought.

Professor McGonagall tapped irritably at a bookshelf, reminded of the visitors' tent and trying to avert her eyes from the pictures that seemed to be mentally polluting her, which was obviously difficult, as posters of Gilderoy Lockhart were plastered everywhere.

Keeping her eyes on the floor would be too rude, and Professor McGonagall's parenting wouldn't allow it, so she could only hope to finish shopping as soon as possible.

"Professor McGonagall! Welcome."

The manager of Flourish and Blotts Bookshop heard the noise and took a break from his busy schedule to go to Professor McGonagall and Fish.

"Fish is here too!" the headmaster rubbed his hands together excitedly, forcing his eyes away from the twitching cat ears, and then asked with a series of questions, "How's life on the Hogwarts campus? Have you come to buy new textbooks today? Would you like a painting of Mr. Lockhart? I'll give you one on my own initiative."

Unfortunately, Professor McGonagall did not appreciate his kind offer.

"Thank you, but it's not necessary."

Professor McGonagall decisively declined the manager's gift for Fish, saying quickly, "I have to take Fish out to dinner later, so please hurry, a copy of 'Standard Spells: Level 2' and.... Lockhart's seven books."

"Yes, one moment, please."

The manager was keen to sense Professor McGonagall's attitude towards Lockhart, so he stopped talking about the painting, turned around and rummaged through the bookshelf.

It was easy to find seven of Lockhart's books, all of them in the most prominent places, but the others had not been ordered in time for Lockhart's book signing, and were all stacked in a corner.

The manager called two employees over and went through the stack to find 'Standard Spells: Level 2'.

' Thirty-six gold galleons."

The manager wiped the sweat from his head as he placed the thick stack of books in front of Professor McGonagall.

Then Professor McGonagall's expression became even more scornful.

The standard price for Miranda Goshawk's spell series had always been one galleon a copy, hadn't changed in years, and this uneducated man, Gilderoy Lockhart, was selling a book for five galleons...

What the hell was Dumbledore thinking hiring such a bastard as a teacher?

Professor McGonagall grimaced, pulled thirty-six gold coins out of her purse and handed them to the manager, then stuffed the eight books into her little handbag that had an undetectable extension charm, then shouted to Fish, "Fish, come on, let's go get some ice cream!"

"Come on nya!" ?(●≧? ≦●)?

Tossing the copy of "My Magical Self" in his hand, Fish leapt to Professor McGonagall's side, but his actions were met with displeasure by all of Lockhart's portraits.

But by then, Professor McGonagall had already led Fish away from the bookstore, leaving the Lockhart's at the portraits angry.
