Capítulo 17: Chapter 17 - Earth to Ark

(A/N: I'm sorry for the mistake that I've made a few days ago. I didn't even realized until I checked the comments .TBH it was my fault for not checking how many pages there were on inkstone, before I posted the last chapter on the list.)

As soon as I heard that Murphy escaped, I gathered all of the people that were in charge of the safety of our people in my tent.

"Forget about him, the grounders would kill him anyways."

"That may not be true, Miller. I fear that that woman would make him spill everything about our camp and our real combat power."

"We need real weapons to fight them. Spears and bows wouldn't do much against the grounders, especially since we aren't exactly them."

"The only problem is that we don't have them, but if you know where to find them, Bellamy, then be my guest."

"Do we know anything about any kind of military installation? "

"Like some kind of relief bunker?"

"Yeah, something like that."

"Until we contact the Ark we don't know anything. We can try, but it's as if we would send a blind man to fight."

"As Finn said, we won't find anything if we go out there searching without any kind of information, so until Raven manages to connect the radio, we are bunkering down in our camp. No one goes out and no one goes in."

"Since we don't have anyone outside right now, then, we can attack the grounders on sight?"

"That depends on what intention they have, if they are here to fight, then yes. "

With everything in order, I made my way out of my tent to check on Raven, after all, I'd like to talk to her in private. Unsurprisingly, I found her on the top floor of the dropship, where Monty tried his luck with his Morse radio. When she saw me, Raven smiled at me, before telling me to come near her.

"C'mon say it."

"Don't be like that, I know you miss me."

"As if. "

"Hey, I was risking my life down here while you were playing with a drop-ship on the Ark."

"But I've flown the drop pod to Earth by myself, so it's my win."

"Fair point and you are right, Raven, I missed you."

"See? Was it hard?"

"Kind of, maybe I should take my words back?"

"No refunds, mister."

We continue to bicker for a while before Raven finished connecting everything together. As soon as the radio started working again, we both heard the familiar voice of Dr. Abigail Griffin.

"Raven, please respond!"

"Abby! I'm here."

"Thank god. What happened back there? Is everyone alright?"

"Clark's fine, Abby. Leon and his team stood back and covered us while we run to safety."

"Leon? "

"Leon S. Kennedy, the guy that put twenty guards in the infirmary. I believe you know him, Abby."

"He's alive!?"

"Of course, he is. He's standing beside me right now."

What followed after Raven said those words was complete silence from Ark. While it was true that I let my anger manifest on the guards, that doesn't mean that I should be greeted by such a rude response. After all, I didn't kill anyone from the council, yet. After what seemed to be an eternity, we heard once again Abby's voice.

"I'm sorry for that. We didn't expect the first person to die to be actually alive. I presume you took off the wristband, am I right?"

"You are right, am. Since I was sent here to die, I thought that no one was going to miss me anyways."

Strangely enough, Raven slapped my head when I said that line, but I deiced to ignore her for now, since we were still talking with the Ark.

"I don't waste our time, but I'd love to know how my daughter is doing down there?"

"Clarke's doing well, I'd say. She became our official doctor, she's also one of the reasons I'm alive."

"Thank you for telling me that. Our chancellor wants to speak with you, is that ok?"

I was surprised to hear that Jaha wants to speak with me nonetheless, especially when I wasn't exactly a friend of either him or his son. But, right now, the lives of every single delinquent were more important that my revenge, and I'll be damned if I'm going to throw away our only source of information.

"I don't have any problem talking with him, after all, he's Our Chancellor."

Abby didn't say anything about the sarcasm that she heard in my voice, but I knew that everyone in that room heard it as well, Jaha in particular. Soon after that, Jaha's voice was heard on the radio.

"Mister Kennedy, I'm glad that you have made it down on Earth. At this moment, I'm talking with you as the Chancellor. Instead, I'm talking to you as one of the parents of one of the 100 kids that we had sent into a suicidal mission for the benefit of mankind."

I've got to say, he's definitely good with his words, trying to make me lower my guard and listen to him. Being a good orator is definitely good quality for someone in his position, but useless down here.

"We, all of the people that live on the Ark want, to know what happened to you. Is everyone alright, can we survive down there, and more importantly is there any danger?"

"Chancellor, the dropship landed right into a forest infested with all kinds of creatures and more importantly with grounders. People that had to survive the nukes."

"There are people down there?"

"Of course, there are people down here. The bad news is that we are at war with them thanks to our arrival. Nine of our people are dead thanks to them and the numbers will only increase if we don't find firearms sooner."

"Do they have firearms?"

"No, they are living in a tribal society, using bows, swords, and spears to fight and hunt. We made our own weapons but compared to these people that learned to use these weapons from a young age, we are helpless in front of them. We can fight against the dinosaurs and other animals, but against grounders, we won't be able to do much before dying."

Back on the Ark, what I've just revealed made all of the people in the control room dumbfound, since not only there are survivors down there, but also the fact that prehistoric life seemed to have returned to life. But one thing made everyone worried, my words regarding the grounders put Marcus Kane in a dilemma. Should we tell them where they may find firearms, arming a bunch of teenagers or should we leave them alone, most likely taking away their only chance of living?

Just as Thelonious was about to say something, Kane interrupted him.

"Leon, from what we know, you seem to be the leader of the 1oo delinquents, am I right?"

"You are right, sir, but I'm not exactly the ruler of the 100. I act more like a general than a ruler. We take any major decision together since I'm not god, as I can't resolve everything alone."

"I see…from what you have just told us, you kids are under constant threat, and for you to guarantee your survival, you would need firearms. We can help you with that, but I have one question for you before I'm willing to help you. Depending on how you answer, we may help you or not."

Note to self, Kane is an asshole. He's even using my people as a bargaining chip …Damn them all.

"What are you going to do with the weapons once you have them? Would you go on the offensive, attacking the homes of those grounders? "

"Yes and no. We would definitely use the weapons against the grounders if it would lead to a fight, but I'm not going to lead my people into a death trap. If Pike's history books taught me something, that was the Vietnam War and its consequences. I'm not going to do the same mistakes as our ancestors."

My answer did surprise Kane, more so than Jaha or even Abby, who I believe were still in the same room as him. Once again, the Ark went silent for a few seconds, before I heard Kane's voice.

"Marcello would have been proud of you son. Since the kids are seeing you as a leader, you have to keep them safe and well protected, and even though I dislike the idea of arming teenagers, we can't let you all in fate's hand."

Hearing my father's name made me freeze for a split second before I regain my composure. While he died after he learned something, that didn't mean that he wasn't a loved person amongst his friends. Meanwhile Raven was looking at me struggling to keep my face straight, thanks to Kane's words and while may not know the whole story about what happened to my family, she knew that my father I've loved them, and talking about them hurts more than any wounds.

Thankfully, Kane told me the coordinates to an old emergency aid depot that's not far from our dropship. Kane and Jaha also explain that the aid depot should have supplies and that it can be used as a shelter for us during the winter. Truth to be told, we are already preparing for the winter and even with all of these preparations, we still don't know how will we survive the cold and grounders altogether.

After they told me where to find supplies for the winter, I didn't talk with the Ark for more than a few minutes before I left Raven responsible for the communication between us and the Ark, while I called everyone single available person in our camp for an important message. When almost all of them were surrounding me, eager to hear some good news for once, I begin my speech.

"Thanks to our new addition, we have managed to contact the Ark! Meaning that from now on, everyone who has a family can talk with them once we turn the radio call into a video call."

No one seemed to hate the idea of talking with their family once again, and while it's true that not all of them had parents alive, that didn't mean that there weren't any friends of theirs up there. Since I've told them one of the main reasons for this gathering, I decided to gather a team of volunteers to follow me while I'm going to retrieve those guns.

"Thanks to Marcus Kane, one of the councilors, we can even the odds against those grounders! There's an old emergency aid depot somewhere close to our camp and I need a team of volunteers to follow me outside those walls to find the weapons that would keep us safe. Who's with me?"
