After they dressed, Shani refused to let go of Harkin’s hand. Which he didn’t seem to mind in the slightest.
They entered the dining hall already packed with shifters and the smell of fresh meat. Harkin grabbed a cup of water for the both of them and followed Shani when Mingan waved them over to a table. She was leaning against Cas, who was speaking to someone across from him. She recognized the Crescent-white hair.
Shani squeezed through the steady swarm of bodies with Harkin not far behind, about to plop down next to Mingan when Shani saw Harkin’s glare at Arian. She sat next to the stray and patted the final spot for Harkin to sit.
Mingan tugged Harkin’s pant leg. “Eat your meat before it gets cold, rose.”
All three of them had empty plates, but there were two piled with one thick steak each. Shani’s stomach growled. With a thank you but without much class, started to dig in. Beside her, Harkin gave thanks but ate rather angrily.
