Capítulo 6: Chapter 6

Victoria submerges half of her face into the water as she looks in her reflection. A hint of embarrassment goes onto her face. A man never done that to her, treated her with such kindness. Everyone would either step away from her, not approach her, talk badly about her, or even wanting to report her to the officers, but never had the guts. She wondered who has reported her and framed her for murdering her late husband, William Booth. Isabelle is crossed off the list, she is her best friend. She would never frame her for something that she has never done, Isabelle has been there for her through thick and thin.

Victoria keeps her wounded arm out of the water as she soon begins to pick herself up from out of the water. Letting the dirty water droplets get off her and back into the tub. Adam had to come back into the room to give her a sheet so that she can dry herself off in. She walks over to the sheet and picks it up and begins to dry herself off with it. It has been a long day and by her guessing that it has neared either midnight or a little after midnight.

After drying herself off, Victoria picks up the shirt and puts it on. Noticing how long it is on her, it made her feel safe in it and comfortable. She puts the pants on and notice how it fits her semi perfectly. She walks over to the door and opens it to see that the living room light is still on. She walks into the living room to see Adam washing up the blood on his hands and knees with a wet cloth and a bucket filled with water. Her knees buckled as she looks around the room to see everything either covered in little splatters of blood or knocked over. Her hair drips water off her as she stands still.

Adam looks up and over at Victoria. He stops washing up the blood and sits on his feet, "How was the water?"

Victoria brings her hands onto the shirt to keep it from showing her cleavage, "I-It was good."

Adam nods, "Would you like to sleep?"

"I do not think that I can after the day that I had." Victoria walks over to the wooden chair from before and sits down in it.

"Take your time, I can bring you some water if you would like that."

Victoria nods slowly, "Th-That would be great, thank you."

"No need to be formal with me, I am only a country boy." Adam gets onto one knee before standing up. He walks out of the room to get Victoria a cup of water.

Victoria looks around the room still and notices paintings of Adam being younger and standing next to someone. It looked to be a younger Alexander before he died. She gets up from the chair slowly and walks over to paintings before looking at the walls to see that they are logs stacked on top of each other. Everything feels homey, but this isn't her home. Her home is back in London. A single tear comes down her cheek as she begins to cry, but doesn't whimper. She hears footsteps enter the room and wipes away her tears before looking over to see Adam walking back into the room.

Adam sees Victoria over at the paintings and smiles slightly. He walks over to a small table and puts the cup down on it before going over to Victoria, "These paintings are from mine and Alexander's childhood. When we actually got along."

Victoria stares at the paintings before she looks at Adam to see his expression. She feels bad into happened the very night. She looks down at the ground, "I am sorry for what happened. It was not my intention."

"Things happen and it was not your fault at all." Adam puts finger underneath Victoria's chin and picks up her head to let her look at him, "You are a survivor from something terrible. Do not let yourself be broken by something that was not in your control."

"But you killed your family." Victoria sees his brown eyes looking back at her own.

"They disowned me a long time ago." Adam let's go of Victoria's chin. He puts the same hand onto his hip as he looks at Victoria, "That was out of defense for yourself and also my own. They plan to kill a lot of people and have actually gone through with it. I have seen enough bodies being burned in the yard." He backs up from Victoria.

Victoria turns herself towards Adam, "I see." She turns her eyes onto the cup of water and walks over to it. She grabs a hold onto the handle and brings it up to her lips. She takes a sip of the water and feels her throat being able to swallow properly. She have never noticed how dehydrated she was until now. She continued on drinking the water until there was no more. She chokes a bit until she gasps for air.

Adam smiles a bit, "Had a good drink?"

Victoria stops gasping for air and looks at Adam to see him smiling. She felt herself wanting to smile too, but she doesn't do so. She felt her body wanting to be hugged like how Queen Victoria would hug her and Isabelle before they left her castle. Victoria wraps her arms around herself and turns her head away. Already hating herself in how she is acting.

Adam sees how Victoria is acting and walks over to her, "May I hold you?"

Victoria turns quickly at him. Noticing how he isn't advancing like how her past husbands and John treated her. She felt herself not wanting to be touched by him, but a part of her wants to be touched. She looks away, "I-I am not sure..."

Adam nods and backs up a bit, "Whatever you wish."

Victoria tightens her grip around herself and turns to Adam, "P-Please... Just a small hug..."

Adam walks to her and hugs her, feeling her arms go around his sides. He makes sure that she can be safe around him. He puts his head onto her drying dark brown hair. Everything seems to have stopped for a moment until he has to let go. He steps back a bit, "I have to finish cleaning up the blood, would you like to sleep in my room for the night?"

Victoria nods as she goes back to holding herself.

Adam walks around Victoria, "Follow me and I can show you."

Victoria follows Adam slowly. It didn't take them long to find the room since it was almost directly across from the room that has the bloody water in.

Adam puts a hand onto the handle and pulls it open. He walks into the room and looks over at Victoria, "This is my room. You can spend the night in here while I am getting my lads to come help me."

"What are they helping you with?" Victoria walks into the room.

"We are tearing this place apart and rebuilding it from the ground up. I have been wanting to ever since I was little." Adam walks to the doorway and turns back to Victoria. Keeping his eyes on her, he keeps on noticing that she is hiding so many emotions and that she needs to let go. He puts an arm onto the doorway and leans a bit, "Would you like to sleep in another room?"

Victoria shakes her head as she turns to him, "No, this is good enough for me. I must apologize for my behavior, I am not usually showing my weakness."

Adam eyes her, "You can show your weakness around here. Me and my boys do not bite anyone who has no ill intention and what I have observed from your actions, you cannot even lift a gun to someone."

"I have thought about killing someone from London." The words slipped out of Victoria's mouth. She quickly puts a hand over her mouth as she turns away.

Adam chuckles, "People get those thoughts every once in a while, no need to feel ashamed. I wanted to kill Alexander and the old lady for a while now for the evil things they have done to women and men. The children, that's the scariest thing that I would never tell another soul."

Victoria nods and lowers her hand, "That was informal of me."

"Have I introduced myself to you?" Adam lowers his arm and leans against the doorway fully.

"Alexander mentioned you, but we have not formally met."

Adam stops leaning against the doorway and walks over to Victoria. He holds out a hand, "My name is Adam Smith. The only son of John and Belle Smith."

Victoria reaches out her hand to shake Adam's, "Victoria Brimswald. The only daughter of George and Margret Brimswald."

Adam shakes his hand and retrieves his hand, "Married to John Harbor?"

"I see that has gone around." Victoria lowers her hand to her side.

"Almost everyone knows about that, the Harbor family is a big deal. Everyone knows about the biggest sailing family there is, but to think that lady loving loser is married to a beautiful of your factor." Adam puts his hands on his hips.

Victoria feels herself blush a bit, "It was a forced marriage by my parents. I was once married to William Booth before he died."

"The woman who married 11 times, your name is huge about the marriage thing as well as the death of William Booth."

"I did not kill him." Victoria says sternly.

Adam laughs, "I know." He dies down once he notices Victoria's expression. He turns around, "I will let you rest now. Tis getting late."

"Indeed."

"Have a good night." He grabs a hold of the handle and closes the door behind him. Leaving Victoria in the room.

Victoria turns towards the room and notices how neat it is. She begins to walk over to the white sheeted bed and notice how comfortable it would be if she laid down in it. She opens up the blankets and get into the bed. Getting herself comfortable in the bed as she settles in while covering herself with the blankets. Looking at the candle flame as she processes everything that has happened. Adam protecting her against 2 people who wanted to kill her when one of them have welcomed her into their home. She curled a bit into a ball as she closes her eyes. Waiting for sleep taking her over for the rest of the night. Sleep soon took over her as she got comfortable in the bed.
