As night fell and darkness crept over the land, a sense of unease settled in my chest. The shadows seemed to grow longer, the silence if the night pressing in around me. I glanced over at Ivan, his expression mirroring my own anxiety and he nodded in silent agreement.

With a shared understanding, we rose from our seats and went out of the bedroom. We then began to walk the dimly lit hallway towards our son's room. My heart beat with each step I took, I was scared of what I'd find. Was he going to be in pain? Was he going to be screaming in terror? At that thought, I couldn't take it anymore, so I reached out to grab Ivan's and he squeezed mine back in response.

As we reached Caeden's door, the soft glow of candlelight spilling out into the hallway, we pushed open the heavy wooden door and stepped inside. The room was bathed in a gentle golden light, casting a warm glow over our son's sleeping form.
