"You're Spider-Man?!"
Pulled back up by Peter, the man looked at the little spider and exclaimed with a stunned look on his face.
"That's right. Looks like my uniform worked."
Being recognised at first glance, Peter's bad mood from Green Goblin's actions was noticeably better. The corners of his still, slightly youthful lips curled into a smile under his mask, and he nodded back.
"My name's Eddie Brock. I'm a fan. I've been following you since you first appeared in New York."
"Thanks for your support. But, you look ..."
Peter looked up at the man in front of him. He didn't look very good. He had a messy head of hair and a troubled expression on his face.
"You don't look so good. Is there something wrong, Mr Brock? "
"I just lost my job and the woman I love. I did something stupid. It's my own fault." Eddie replied with a bitter smile.

The spider was still a kid, after all. Seeing Eddie's messy appearance, he was a bit worried. He hesitated for a few seconds and stood frozen for a few seconds before continuing to say, "I know this isn't very convincing, but, trust me; things will get better. Don't dwell on the past ..."
As Peter said so, Uncle Ben's appearance flashed in his mind. Uncle Ben's death had brought him and his aunt untold sorrow, but it had also strengthened Peter's faith in doing the right thing as someone with superpowers.
"Thank you." Peter's words seemed to have some comforting effect on Eddie. He looked back at the scene of the explosion behind him and spoke with some fear, "You saved my life."
"You're welcome, Sir, it's what I should do."
Patting his not-so-broad chest, the young spider replied with a proud tone.
Just then, the faint sound of sirens from a distance reminded Peter.
"It's time for me to go."
Despite always trying to do his best to fight crime, it was clear that Spider-Man and the NYPD didn't get along very well, especially since Police Commissioner Stacy never seemed to take too kindly to superhuman beings like Peter, who ignored the law.
"I hope you can get back on your feet and start a new life. By the way, what did you do before?"
"Journalist. I write articles for a newspaper as a reporter."
"Journalist, a very admirable job, I enjoyed reading the paper. Except for the Daily Bugle..."
God knows how he had pissed off the Daily Bugle. In the face of the Daily Bugle's barrage of criticism, even the good little bug had developed a bit of resentment.
Revealing a little of his displeasure with the Daily Bugle, Spidey turned his head to look at the police car that had appeared around the corner. He nodded to Eddie in, then bent his legs and leapt forward. His hands stuck firmly on the smooth surface of a building and, in the next instant, disappeared onto the upper floors of the building.
"..."
Silently watching the back of the little spider disappearing, Eddie withdrew his eyes and looked back at the police officers behind him, who started to control the crowd.
Turning around, he disappeared into the shadows of some obscure corner of the junction.
...
In the antique shop, Ryan looked at the points that flashed on the data panel.
The points weren't high, but Eddie, who appeared in front of the little spider, was just an ordinary person. He understood why. The reason why he used Eddie's role was that he wanted to leave an impression on Spider-Man right now so that he could gain a lot more points next time.
The down-and-out man turned supervillain a fairly classic movie trope.
Silently gathering his thoughts, Ryan's heart didn't ripple too much from his encounter with the little spider. The presence of the Ancient One had already stuck firmly in his heart like a thorn in his side. With that in mind, Ryan turned his attention back to the Defenders on the other side.
After several days in a coma, Danny, in the intensive care unit, finally regained consciousness.
...
"So, what the hell happened, Danny?"
Inside the ward, Jessica looked at Iron Fist, who was lying silently on the hospital bed. She couldn't help but frown and ask.
"Who on earth injured you like this?"
It had been over 10 hours since Danny regained consciousness and came to his senses, but the man had always kept silent.
"Maybe, we need to give him a little more time." Luke Cage opened his mouth and looked at Iron Fist in the hospital bed.
"I've given him enough time, enough time to look back through his whole life," Jessica spoke up grumpily and glared back at Luke. Her personality was still not very good and she couldn't stand Danny's dishevelled appearance, "If he keeps refusing to talk like this, then I have nothing more to say. I'm withdrawing from the rest of the operation. You guys do what you want, I don't have the luxury of lying in bed and pretending to be deep like some rich guy ..."
Noticing Jessica's growing agitation, Matt spoke up and advised, "We've all seen what happened to Danny. Anything that happens next might be even more dangerous. We're still not sure exactly who we're up against this time."
"But it's better than staying here."
'They are divided.'
Natasha silently listened to the arguments of the Defenders and couldn't help but make an evaluation in her heart.
In the antique shop, Ryan rubbed his chin a little speechlessly.
He didn't expect that he could beat Danny up into this state; it literally "blew his mind away". 'Did I really beat him up too hard?'
Ryan thought silently in his mind. He certainly couldn't let Iron Fist become autistic; otherwise, how could his plans continue? As he thought, he spoke through Ip Man in the hospital room.
"Danny, I know defeat is a hard thing to accept, but did you forget why you started studying martial arts at K'un-Lun in the first place? How can a martial artist fall into despair because of a small setback? Is that the extent of the power of the Iron Fist?"
Ip Man spoke up. His refined voice caused a slight waver in Danny's eyes as he lay on the hospital bed.
Looking down at his broken arms, his mind involuntarily recalled the scene in the alleyway, where his fists were painfully cracked by his opponent.

The pain from between his arms caused him to gently close his eyes and feel the power of the Iron Fist still coursing through him.
There was a moment of silence before Danny finally spoke.
"Lord Godless. The man who defeated me... his name is Lord Godless."
