Capítulo 45: Mother-in-law (2)

In the Barrett household, Kate dragged her feet downstairs to head for breakfast. Her body felt heavy as she was unable to sleep last night due to her father's death. She hoped to stay awake to prolong the morning from coming when she would have to help her mother start planning for her father's funeral. 

Life was strange in Kate's opinion. One moment her father had been here, giving her everything she ever wanted, and now he was gone. For the first time, their house felt uncomfortable. How would they be able to survive this loss?

"This is unfair," Kate mumbled.

It was unfair for her mother to be left picking up the pieces while Alessandra was somewhere on the duke's estate living life without a care. Their father's death involved Alessandra and she should be held responsible for it.
