“That’s enough from you, Sharpe,” the dark-haired woman, Melina, said.

He snickered. “What? It’s such a lovely name. Perfect for an illustrious group like us.”

The bespectacled woman, whom Sharpe had introduced as Ms. Griff, suddenly blushed. “No one had any better names,” she said defensively. “And I think it does add a certain air of... mystique.”

Sharpe laughed into his hand. The other two women shot an exasperated look at Ms. Griff.

“What’s to be done with them, then?” the short woman, Leanne, demanded roughly.

“Kill them,” Sharpe said, without a moment’s hesitation.

Ms. Griff gaped at him. “What? Why bother bringing them all the way to see us if you just wanted to kill them?”

Sharpe shrugged. “For a lark, I suppose. The fact of the matter is they found us. We can’t exactly let them go free, now. Particularly not her.”

He jerked his head in Mirra’s direction. “We made that mistake once already.”

Leanne grinned nastily. “He has a point, Melina.”
