25% Ambitions of a Reincarnated Orc / Chapter 5: Aftermath

Capítulo 5: Aftermath

The sun has already went down, switching it's place with the moon that now glow faintly high above the star filled skies, it's light providing small brightness towards the shrouded lands below.

At this time, Bog and Amako, who each led their own remaining forces, has won countless small-scale victories against the Terkits, to which has effectively dwindled their large scattered army down.

But at the same time, Tulka and the other remaining chieftains who had most of their warriors shattered and destroyed, decided to flee the battlefield and retreated towards deeper in the Gorkatak mountains where they would most likely try to fortify their each and own clan's territory should the entire battle here was eventually lost.

But right now, the battle has already ended with the two sides currently in a stalemate, with both unable to give ground nor take some, resulting in tens of thousands upon thousands of unneccesary deaths in both sides.

Demoralised, the Terkits refused to order another assault against the Gorks who are currently well positioned in the hills on their right and in the woods north from them.

Though they managed to stop the massive army of the invading Terkits, barely half of the forces that consisted of hundreds of clans and tribe of the confederation has already fled the battlefield and returned to the mountains, returning to their previous lifestyles once again.

'If there are one thing I learned from this whole thing, it is we orcs cannot stand united forever, it is in our blood already, this pride that keeps us divided.' Bog clenched his fist tightly as he stared at the dark sky above, his face illuminated faintly by the moonlight above.

"The terkits..." he spat the name with clear mockery, "Something's making them desperate to the point of making the most savages of their tribes unite under their clear goal of invading our lands." he quietly muttered, his voice harsh and bitter.

'But why our lands, is it a plague? some kind of invasions that you are fleeing from? if it is, then why flee in our lands?' After hours of fighting during the daytime, he was able to think now clearly once the frustrations and weariness wore down.

'Why not flee towards the human realm south of your territory?'

And this is what hit him hard.

'What if the humans were the ones invading them and forcing them to attack us.'

'Impossible! If that is the case, then why waste tens of thousands of your warriors attacking us when you can use them to face the humans?'

As he pondered every possibilities, a shieldguard suddenly went up besides him and reported.

"The tents are now built my high chief, the other chieftains awaits you for the feasting to begin."

the shieldguard sternly reported.

"Good, I will be there shortly afterwards I finish readying myself." Bog answered before motioning the guard away.

Sighing, he then turned his back towards the star filled sky above and began making his way towards where the rest of his entire host were currently encamped in.

.

.

It is already the time of night and darkness, the time where the spirits of their ancestors and warriors roam around the lands of the mortals.

That is why fighting and killing during night time is for them already considered disrespectful to the warriors who fought and died under the sunlight.

Amako, chieftain of the Zoga clan, raised his mug of wine towards his mouth and took an entire gulp.

"Pah!" he said as he withdrew the now empty mug from his mouth.

Currently, he along with several other chieftains were whom he managed to rally under him earlier that day were now all gathered around a large bonfire, eating and drinking.

"Eat up brothers, you need fill your strength should the Terkits come attacking again." Amako said as he grabbed a nearby hog's roasted meat impaled in a small stick and began biting on it.

"Yes, let the devils come and I'll show them the way how the Yuka tribe fights!" a chieftain of said Yuka tribe raised his half filled mug drunkily.

"As I remembered earlier, your tribe was the second to flee once you saw the Terkit cavalry heading straight towards you." at another chieftain's remark, the rest of the chiefd began laughing.

Due to this, the Yuka tribe chief's face began to redden, his face contorted in shame and anger.

"Well, I didn't have any choice left!" he spat back.

"If chief Amako wasn't there to convince you, you could've fled the entire battlefied with tails between your legs." another chieftain responded, causing the Yuka chieftain to be more angrier.

"How dare you-"

But before anyone could finish their words, Amako suddenly stood up and stared angrily at each and every one of them.

"Enough! we can't afford to fight amongst ourselves now that the Terkits is in our gates."

Amako scolded them.

"This stupid and petty disputes that keeps us from becoming united, is one of the reasons for our rout earlier!" he continued.

All the chieftains then bowed their heads in shame, none uttering a single word.

Sighing, Amako then turned his back towards them and began making his way to his tent.

'Tommorow is going to be another long and unknown day.' Amako thought before pulling the flap of his tent aside and going in to sleep.

.

.

The sun has now risen, indicating that a new day has already begun.

In the vast plains where the massive army of the Terkits is currently encamped in, to the woods and hills north of their position where a small valley leading deep inside the Gorkatak mountains lay.

A small battle can be seen twelve kilometers north from where the two separate forces of Bog and Amako are currently encamped in.

The battle is fought between two unknown orc groups, but one thing is certain, they are Gorks.

No standard or banners were carried between the two groups, indicating they were remnants of some once big clan or just some petty and tiny clans and tribes fighting just because of some small disputes.

Also, the two sides seems to be evenly matched, with warriors on both sides killing and also at the same time, getting killed.

The number of corpses that littered the ground seems to grow in each passing second.

Not only that, the losing group has barely a hundred warriors left as they struggled to fight against the other group which outnumbered them by a few dozens.

Screams of pain and the clashing of steel can be heard everywhere as both sides continued to hack each other down, none deciding to retreat or flee the battle.

A warrior from the winning side can be seen deflecting a blow from his opponent's axe before quickly piercing his opponent on the chest, killing him, only to get killed by another warrior from a spear thrust from behind, succesfully avenging the now dead warrior earlier.

"Ragh!" Reku, a particular warrior from the losing side, distinguishable by his grayish skin compared to the greenish and brownish of his fellow warriors, can be seen in a mad state of frenzy as he brutally slashed any enemies that dared to come near him.

An orc, armed with a small dagger can be seen stealthily move up behind Reku who was busy smashing his enemies to paste.

But before he can plunge the dagger on Reku's nape, Reku suddenly turned around and grabbed the orc's hand, twisting it in a brutal manner.

The orc then screamed in pain as the bone in his arms broke in half, producing a crunching noise that may seem satisfying on Reku's ear.

Afterwards, Reku proceeded to decapitate the still screaming orc's head in just a single slash of his sword.

"Reku, behind you!" one of Reku's companions screamed and frantically pointed his finger towards a figure behind Reku.

But it was already too late, Reku was suddenly slammed in the back of his head using a large log by another enemy that managed to sneak up behind him.

Reku imemdiately became dizzy and his eyesight blurred after the impact, but after a few seconds of getting stunned, he managed to recover and kill the orc that hit him in the head, surprising and shocking everyone.

"Such strength?!" a warrior from the opposing orc group muttered before suddenly fleeing the fight, he was then followed by a few dozen more, with the rest of their group staying and continuing the fight.

"That's right, Traku clan, go and run like the cowards you are!" Reku roared, killing two more additional Traku warriors before raising his sword high in the air and waving it for everyone to see.

Reku's group, with the battle suddenly turning in their favor, went from being the losing side to the winning side in just a matter of few minutes because of Reku's deeds.

They then began attacking the Traku warriors who still remained in the battlefield in a more aggresive manner than before, killing dozens upon dozens of enemy warriors in the process.

Reku watched with satisfaction as he saw his fellow warriors chase down the now routing Traku warriors before suddenly fainting and falling on the ground.
