Raphael's expression turned grim as his eyes locked onto the figure that had materialized before Sybilla.
The creature was an unsettling blend of human and beast, its body split down the middle, with one side resembling a man, and the other that of a monstrous creature. Its arms were as thick as an elephant's legs, and its own legs were rooted to the ground like sturdy tree trunks.
Sybilla stood taller than the figure, but her face was etched with a mix of respect and fear. In silent acquiescence, she separated herself from Rio, the seven-foot-tall beast she had merged with.
The figure's gaze never wavered from Raphael as it addressed Sybilla. "You had just one job, Sybilla, and you still couldn't get it done." Though the figure's voice was soft, the undercurrent of menace in his tone sent shivers down the spines of Sybilla and Rio.
