"What?"
His voice was barely a whisper. It was as if it took him a great deal to let this question out from his pale lips. A pair of hands held Sue Terin's shoulders and as seconds passed his grip became tighter. Veins bulged around his arms and his neck as his jaws clenched. Gone were his calm obsidian eyes, replaced with a pair of imposing blood-red ones.
Sue Terin could feel his turmoil coming at her in waves and all she could do was to stay silent for a good moment, letting it sink in for him.
"Say it! What did you say?"
Sighing, she placed her right palm atop her underbelly. Eyes pinned on his, she said more slowly. "I am pregnant, Heidi. And yes, it's yours."
One moment, he was holding her in a death grip. The next thing she realized, he was smashing and thrashing her small kitchen. His ruby-red eyes gleamed with malice more than ever.
He was livid.
