There was no doubt that the person yelling was the leader of the Rodent gang. It seemed that they had come with the intent to kill this time.
Alana and Alane shivered a bit, but they immediately calmed down with assurance in mind.
"Rigor, take this Pokeball and settle this Rodent gang—this can be your first task. This will also display your might and dominance over this area." Leon tossed Rigor a Pokeball that he was renting to him for a certain period of time.
The rent function could be rented to anyone. Once the time limit of the rental was up, it would automatically return to Leon's Pokemon Home.
It would be similar to the anime when you caught too many Pokemon, it would flash and teleport away.
Leon listed the moves the Pokemon could use, so he could fight the trespassers off.
"T-this..." Rigor held the Pokeball with shaky hands, showing his overwhelming excitement.
"Right, I'll go deal with this problem now." Rigor took a deep breath, it was time for a change. He turned and walked towards the door with a serious expression.
He held the Pokeball in his grasp, while a couple of the kids followed him.
Alana and Alane stayed inside to watch Ampharos and the rest of the Pokemon at work.
Leon went up a flight of stairs to check the second floor. The stairs had junk and aged moss on them, typical of a worn-down building that hadn't received any maintenance.
Leon summoned a Dragonair and Kadabra to handle the lights on this floor. Dragonair had access to electric-type moves, while the sphere on its neck and tail could glow up.
In the same way, Leon explained what needed to be done with the lights.
"I'll need to check the power around here, I should go into the lower floors to see what I'm dealing with."
The generator was on the 1st layer below, which was the start of the lower floors of this building.
There were still a few floors going upward, but he needed to get the power working first to make any sort of progress. Leon quickly ran downstairs towards the lower floors to check the generator.
On his way down, Leon noticed that it had started raining heavily outside. Nevertheless, he continued toward the lower floors.
"Oh, yeah, this area is especially dark. There are no windows down here, I can't even see my own hands and feet in front of me."
Leon was paranoid, he thought of the possibility of being attacked by a Pokemon, particularly—a ghost-type or a wild Rattata.
This time, he summoned a powerful high-level Pokemon to accompany him over to the generator.
Leon had summoned a Chandelure, its body lit up half the room. On top of that, it was a powerful ghost type that no Pokemon in this area would dare fight.
"Alright, Chandelure, light and lead the way." Leon pointed towards an area in the room, which was quite some ways away. This room was fairly large, but he couldn't calculate how big it was.
"Chandelure~" Its tone sounded dreary and desolate to borderline creepy.
This caused Leon's scalp to tingle a bit, he wasn't expecting it to sound like this. But remembering its Pokedex entry, he was more creeped out and understanding of it.
Leon gulped and followed Chandelure from behind, it wouldn't be a good day for anyone if they ran into a Chandelure in a haunted house.
After walking for about two minutes, Leon and Chandelure were before the generator. Rigor had a flashlight when he came down here, but it ended up getting broken some time ago.
Leon stared at the generator, there was no way he would be able to fix this thing, obviously.
This didn't stop him from trying to see if it would come on via the flip of a switch. Finally, Leon found the control panel that was filled with buttons and switches.
"The first-floor power fuse, the second-floor power fuse, and so on." What he found was that the switches were already flipped on, but they still didn't switch on the power.
Leon began to assume that the lightbulbs on the first floor and upward were all faulty.
As he was lost in thought, Leon turned to Chandelure—whose purple flames caused him to squint.
The heat from these flames gave off a type of warmth that would cause a person to get lost from just staring at them up close.
Chandelure could hypnotize people with these flames, but it obviously wouldn't do this to Leon. Suddenly, a thought ensued him that made his eyes brighten, he had found the solution to his problem!
"Perfect! Thanks, Chandelure, I've found the solution to all of this." Leon grinned and quickly searched his Pokemon home to find who he was looking for.
At first, Leon was thinking of having Electrode empower the building, but that wasn't a good option at all.
"Come out, Rotom!" Rotom was summoned forth, it zipped and zapped around the room in a flash before appearing in front of Leon with a smile.
"...."
Leon silently analyzed Rotom closely, this fella was small but gave off such a bright light.
"I need to invest in some sunglasses or something." If this kept up, he might go blind staring at all of the lights, these Pokemon gave off.
"I'm gonna need you to possess this generator and power this whole building up for the time being." Leon tapped the generator to show Rotom.
This wouldn't be a problem for Rotom, it wouldn't have a problem powering things up and not suffering from any exhaustion.
On top of that, this Rotom had a high level—so It was more than capable of powering this whole building with little to no effort.
"Chiwai!" Rotom gave a cry before turning to the generator and rushing into it.
Leon suddenly thought of something ironic, what if Rotom took the form of a generator and became...like a Steel and Electric-type or something?
'That would be interesting.' Leon rubbed his chin, smiling at the thought.
The generator shook violently but stopped abruptly in a short time frame. Suddenly, a few lights on this lower floor switched on, there weren't many but it was the sign that Leon needed.
"Nice! Hahaha!" Leon laughed in joy, it had been resolved. This was actually one of the biggest hurdles for this building, electricity.
Leon didn't bother to explore the lower levels, he would do that at a later time or date. He went back upstairs, but not before recalling Chandelure.
Elsewhere, outside of this dilapidated but fine establishment—trouble had arrived on the scene. A man around 5'11 wore a black shirt that could only be seen through his tattered and tacky green jacket.
His skin was slightly tanned, and he had a hook-like nose with narrowed brown eyes. This man had a malicious smirk across his face. This could be none other than the leader of the Rodent gang.
Around him were nine other people, who were also wearing malicious expressions. One of the boys frowned when he got a good look at the building.
"What is that yellowish light coming from the doors? Did they bring some lanterns into the building?" A man, nearly as skinny as a pole said. The building was dark, so maybe they wanted to live there but couldn't see.
"Could they have gotten the power to work, but that's impossible! They would need a professional to come out and fix that thing."
"How dare they have thoughts of taking up residence in my territory without my approval?!" The leader was enraged when he thought about this. To come and take one of his biggest buildings as their own?
The Audacity!!
"Come out here or we'll be going inside! If that happens, there's no turning back; the only road is death!" The leader roared in anger.
Right as he was about to completely lose it; a trio of boys came out of the building.
"I heard you the first time, you big mouth idiot." Rigor's tone lacked emotion while hurling an insult at the obnoxious leader.
"You little brat, what did you say? How dare you insult our boss?!" A somewhat chubby man stepped out and spoke viciously, his eyes and tone were filled with threat.
"Boss, Weyland, let me handle these brats for you, you don't have to lift a finger." Another man walked over cracking his fist as he sneered at the trio. His face was covered in pockmarks from his cheeks to his forehead.
"Handle them, don't kill them—we'll beat them until they submit." Weyland smiled and continued, not bothered by Rigor's previous insult. "If you guys take a knee and swear your undying loyalty to me, then I'll let you off scot-free."
Everyone was surprised, he wanted to recruit a bunch of useless kids?
But when they thought about it; this would make things easier on them. These kids would practically become laborers and errand slaves.
"We would never work for a clown like you, we already have a boss and he's better than you guys." Ace laughed mockingly.
"Good! You've made your stance, so what about the rest of you?" Weyland turned to the other kids, but they didn't reply to him.
With a nod, Weyland said "Remember, you brats asked for this, begging for mercy will not save you! Get them!" His expression turned cold, these kids continued to disrespect him, which only meant that they had to die.
"My pleasure, boss." The pock-marked face man smiled crudely, he was truly excited and honored to do this.
The man dashed forth baring his fist with a hideous smile on his lips.
"Now!" Rigor called out. That's when a shadow quickly leaped over from out of nowhere.
"What?" Weyland was taken aback, he couldn't see the figure clearly for a moment. Unfortunately, no matter what, it was already too late to warn the pockmarked-faced man.
The pockmarked-face man was caught off guard, as a fist buried itself into his right cheek. His head twisted in a somewhat odd fashion, he simply couldn't process what was going on!
The sound of bones could be heard breaking, as the pockmarked-face man was knocked away. He torpedoed into an area where trash cans were stationed, unmoved.
"....."
"..."
It was dead silent, cold dead silence! Their hearts sped up unnaturally—not one person present wasn't shocked at what just occurred.
RUMBLE~
They finally caught sight of the attacker, but that was also when it started to rain heavily.
This Pokemon wore a light lavender purple vest and shoes, it also wore wide shoulder pads. It was brown in coloration and sported red boxing gloves for hands.
It was none other than a Hitmonchan.
"What is that thing?" Someone amongst them asked with fright.
"I-I don't know, but I t-think it killed Neil." The man's eyes dilated as he looked toward the pockmarked-face man's limp body.
"So this is where all your confidence comes from." Weyland's expression darkened. He had no idea what type of Pokemon this was, but it looked powerful.
"It looks like we'll have to fight it together, you two, join hands with me to take it down." Weyland knew for sure, that a solo battle against this Pokemon wasn't a good idea.
"Right boss!" These two men actually had Pokemon, they quickly grabbed their Pokeballs out of their pockets before enlarging them.
"Go, Rattata!"
"Rattata, you're up!"
"Raticate, lead the charge!"
All of them summoned their Pokemon for battle. The Raticate evolutionary line appeared with ugly expressions, while one had a nasty gash on its face.
Hitmonchan didn't seem fazed at all, he responded by jabbing in quick successions before ending it with an uppercut—as if he was taunting the group of rats and men.
"Prepare, get into position," Weyland ordered while thinking that he was going to take this Pokemon for himself after defeating it. And if he couldn't defeat it, he could just sneak attack these brats behind it.
A cunning smile flashed on his lips as his burning gaze scanned Hitmonchan with greed.
