Beep! Beep! Beep!
Goodness, the city streets were so packed today. As I walked down the sidewalk to this coffee shop. Today, Veronica and I wanted to shop in the city. Although she wanted to check out this clothing store that was too pink and bright for me. So she said she'll meet up with me at the coffee shop.
I was pretty surprised when she gave me some cash and told me her order. Normally, I am guarded like a hawk because Kai never lets me do anything by myself. So on this rare occasion, it's nice to have my freedom outside the mansion.
I haven't seen nor heard from Kai these past eight days and yesterday I started my first pill of birth control. Other than being frustrated with Kai's absence for this long, I was happy to be on birth control.
I thought when I cut the corner to find the coffee shop. Suddenly, I stopped dead in a stance from running head-on with that blonde I caught Orlando in bed with. Our eyes locked into a dead stare until I stepped aside to leave.
"Victoria, wait!" She crossed my pathway with teary eyes. "Please, I just wanna say how sorry I am for what happened."
Now I was speechless since I wasn't expecting Orlando's girlfriend to say this. Kai had multiple photos of her and Orlando together along with other women. Faithful or not, I know he's dating her.
"It's fine," I said, holding a fake smile. "Have a nice day."
I tried to walk around her but she still stopped me from doing so. "Please let me explain what happened?" She begged. "There is a coffee shop just two stores away, let me buy you a refreshment and explain."
I definitely had a horrible gut feeling about this but I was curious to hear what she so desperately has to say.
"Ok, but I'm with my sister-in-law. So let's make this quick before she meets me in the coffee shop," I curtly said.
Together we strolled down the sidewalk. "My name is Ashley by the way," she sweetly introduced herself and I could see she had a lot of remorse in her eyes. So I lightened up on my coldness.
"It's nice to meet you, Ashley," I said kindly. Curse me for having such a kind heart!
We entered the coffee shop and ordered two iced coffees. Once we got our drinks, we took a seat at this table.
"What did you have to say?" I asked, getting to the point as to why she needed to speak with me so badly.
"Orlando and I never meant for that to happen," Ashley sniffled as she wiped a few tears so I handed her a napkin. "Thank you."
"No, problem," I gave a thin smile.
She cleared her throat and continued. "Anyways, Orlando was hurt because he saw you were about to kiss Kai at the duck pond. Around the same time, I found my boyfriend cheating on me. So Orlando and I were supporting each other."
"Then you both slept together," I tried not to get snippy but it was hard not to.
"It wasn't like that at first but we both drank together that night before and then you showed up and found us..."
"Yeah, I found you guys actively in bed together for a morning round of sex after doing it multiple times with each other that night," I finished her sentence as she gestures to confirm what I said is correct.
Regardless of the fact, I already knew it to be true. So I didn't need her to verify it.
"Thank you for being brave enough to admit this to me," I said and looked at her sorrowfully.
"Will you please talk to Orlando?" Ashley beseeched. "He's heartbroken without you."
"Well, he should have thought about that before sleeping with you and the other women he's been with," I firmly said. "Unlike him, I never once slept around. What Orlando did isn't forgivable."
"But Orlando never slept with anyone else. Aside from me that one time you caught us," Ashley claimed, utterly shocked.
"Well, Kai gave me proof by capturing photos of Orlando being with other women aside from you," I said clearly. "He even had recent photos of you and Orlando dating as his girlfriend."
Ashley's mouth fell off. "Victoria, I can assure you that Kai is lying! Orlando would never cheat on you! You're the only one he loves and will ever love. I'm not Orlando's girlfriend."
"Yet he did cheat but it doesn't matter anymore because I'm married to Kai," I sternly said and got up to leave. "You don't have to lie to me about being his girlfriend."
"Victoria..."
Without stopping, I left the coffee shop and retraced the way I came. On the spot, I ran into Veronica with tears already in my eyes.
"Victoria, what's wrong?" Veronica asked, worried.
I shook my head and couldn't breathe. She hugged me tight as people bypassed us. After I hugged her, I told her the truth about what happened.
"Let's go home," she said and I followed, beside her.

Once we returned to the mansion it didn't get any better. Everyone I at least knew, along with a handful of others. Were in the front entrance living room watching the news.
During that same night, Rex cornered me at the club. A group of women at a nearby park were murdered. Their remains were discovered today and then while I was on my honeymoon. Another young woman and her infant son went missing from her parent's home. Just as of today the woman's body has been found nearby a hiker's trail. The infant hasn't been found yet but is presumed dead.
What's happened to our community? It's not even safe to sleep in your bed at night anymore.
I brushed a teardrop away from falling off my eyelid as the Butler opened the door. This time, Kai and Rome came in. He looked super excited to see me. However, I couldn't say I felt the same. Kai's twinkling smile frowned once he saw I was upset. He encircled his arms behind my waist and pulled my back into his torso. Until I yanked away and went to the elevator while Kai trailed behind like a pouting puppy.
"I'm sorry I had to leave you for so long," He said once the elevator closed. "But I at least left you a note."
"Yeah, for the maid to tell me you'll be busy on a business trip to who knows where!" I snapped unkindly to hear this bologna.
