The following month passed calmly like a gentle breeze after a hot summer day, and as the weather seemed to improve, many things in Cynthia's life seemed to be improving as well. And breaking three of Geroge's knuckles seemed like the best thing that had happened to the couple in a while.
Therapy was a brilliant idea. Not because Cynthia and George actually went there, but because the suggestion to include a third party and open up about what was happening between the two of them made talking about things as if another person was already listening to the conversation a habit of theirs. That made the texture of the words more rational and got both of them to involve fewer emotions when they argued.
Many things helped them reach a better understanding of each other.
