Vayne took a step back on instinct, sensing this slight intimidation from Adam. Strange, he thought. Adam still had no presence of intimidating a pureblooded vampire like Vayne, yet all the alarms in his head told him to run. 

"You should listen to your instincts," advised Adam. "I don't guarantee your success, but at least you tried. This brings back a memory of the past."

A slight smile appeared on his face. "This brings back some memories of the past. Beatrice Le Blac. Do you know you?"

Of course, Vayne knew her.
