In Sasuke's original Rinnegan story..
After receiving half of Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki's power, Sasuke gained a Rinnegan in his left eye.
It has six volumes distributed in its first two undulations.
However, he can lose them for a certain time if Sasuke uses too much chakra as it was found after he traveled to Kaguya's dimensions his eye power was not at full capacity.
Just over fifteen years after obtaining the Rinnegan, Sasuke lost it after being stabbed with a kunai by Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki controlling Boruto Uzumaki's body.
Outside of Earth where Hagoromo's chakra is needed, the Rinnegan can be obtained through unknown methods such as Momoshiki and in the anime, Urashiki Ōtsutsuki.
Momoshiki held the Rinnegan in the palms of his hands, having the typical eye color, in the anime, they turn red when using techniques.
After he devoured Kinshiki Ōtsutsuki, he gained an extra Rinnegan as a third eye on his forehead, and all of his Rinnegan turned a yellowish-gold color.
In the anime, Urashiki could use the Rinnegan on the same pairs of eyes as his Byakugan, being able to switch between the two at will.
In the same way, he demonstrated different forms of the Rinnegan to use different abilities, such as a Rinnegan with six tomes distributed in its first two undulations and colored red.
Other times he used the standard grayish-purple version, glowing and changing to a grayish-blue color with white ripples when certain techniques were used.
After consuming all the chakra he had stolen, Urashiki devoured both Rinnegans undergoing a transformation.
In said form, his eyes were restored and he acquired a third yellowish-gold Rinnegan in the center of his forehead.
Like the other Dōjutsus, the Rinnegan can be transplanted into other people, this was demonstrated by Madara implanting his eyes into a young Nagato.
Obito subsequently implanted Nagato's left Rinnegan, although in the same way that happens with other users with implanted dōjutsus, they cannot deactivate it and it remains always active.
Shinra Tensei (Divine Judgment) is a characteristic jutsu of the Rinnegan. He can repel any physical attack, ninjutsu, or person with a push.
This technique manipulates gravity, which is useful as a means of protection no matter how powerful or large your opponent's attack is or your opponent's as well.
In addition, it could also retain multiple opponents or attacks at a cost of five seconds, during which the user is left defenseless and completely exposed to new rival attacks.
