Ding-Dong...
Natasha rushed to open the door, thinking Yasmin had arrived. She was taken aback when she saw her mother at the threshold.
"Mommy…" As a massive wave, an overwhelming emotion crashed through her. Her eyes turned glassy in an instant. Natasha wanted to throw herself on her but couldn't cross the gap between them.
Maya blinked her tears away and stiffened her face, pretending to be unaffected. She glanced into the room. "You are living here."
Natasha tore her gaze away from her and stepped aside, disappointed at her indifference. "Please come in."
Maya walked in, looking around the hall. "It's quite big… well-furnished." She sat on the sofa.
"I will bring you some juice." Natasha went into the kitchen and drew a jug of orange juice from the refrigerator.
"Why are you staying in such a costly house?" Maya continued to question her. "You should go back home. Don't make us any more embarrassed."
