Jude scowled.

"Number one, Ava is stronger than me. If anything, she's the one who needs to protect me. Number two, I would never fall for someone who could kill me in a blink of an eye."

Matthew only smirked in response.

The man actually had the audacity to look proud.

Jude's face turned uglier.

"I am glad that you understand that."

"Understand what?" Jude asked.

"That only strong men can handle a woman like her." Matthew finished his scotch. "Only men like me can do that."

"You—"

"I wouldn't curse if I were you, Caro. Especially since we are alone. Ava won't be able to protect you from me."

Jude almost erupted in anger. His blood was boiling.

Matthew was nothing but a two-faced son of a bitch whose arrogant ass loved to show his superiority every now and then. Next to Ava, the man looked docile and fucking domesticated. But once Ava was gone, he would switch into a deplorable creature!
