Mad laughter rung in the front garden of Saheilla's manor.
As the High-elf sorceress stepped off from her ice hand, she watched how her Queen would respond to the offer. Will Zorrla continue the show, or let Maessha's cunning sway her?
"And you can do that how? We all know Ellamir's hatred of me runs bone-deep."
But before Maessha can answer Zorrla, she must first explain to the livid giantess next to her.
"Are you out of your damn mind, Maessha!? If by some miracle your sister agrees, will you risk Ellani's safety at the hands of this madwoman!?"
Alara's hysterics were met with an onslaught of laughter. The Giantess had a point. Killing the pup and Ysbeil's runt indeed sounded fun, but the thought the misery she could bring by meeting her granddaughter elated her to the point that she stayed her hand...for now.
"You have to trust me on this, we will have mother swear. And 'all' of us will be there to supervise."
Absolutely not, Alara struck Zorrla as someone who NEVER will honor an agreement. And yet Alara was forced to reconsider. As a veteran warrior, Alara must be able to size up her foe. Felling Zorrla will require all techniques and combat tricks she learned, eventually bringing out her Aeon. And that was for Zorrla alone, Alara's vision caught a glimpse of Saheila can Naya and Maessha take out this fearsome High-elf sorceress?
Should Alara gamble?
Nay, Maessha's life proved too valuable to endanger.
Zorrla licked his lips under her helm, "Yes you can put your faith in me. I swear upon my name that I will do no harm to little Ellani. Does that pleases you daughter dear?"
"No, mother. I want you to swear upon Lolth."
Ah, for the first time her youngest daughter had dealt a staggering blow, albeit an emotional one. Whatever fowl machinations Zorrla had must be halted before the name of the Spider Goddess. And like her Goddess, there is nothing Zorrla hated more than someone getting in the way of her fun.
"You damnable brat! I do not need to utter our Goddess' name for such drivel!"
"Those are my terms, Mother. Accept them or forever be barred in getting close to Ellani."
Ah, this growing sense of curiosity about her Grand daughter must be quelled. Did a filthy half-born managed to inherit Lolth's gift? And above all, is Ellani as pretty as her Grandmother? Such questions tormented the Queen. Hopeful that the answer to both would be yes.
"By Lolth's guarantee, no harm will befall Ellani. Fuck, that was a bit harder to say than I thought."
Going against her nature, honesty for Zorrla was what a salt is to a slug. No matter, the pay off shall be worth it for the Queen.
"Hold it." Alara raised her spear, undaunted as she pointed it towards the drider. "I have a condition of my own, you'll get to live another day but only if you let Maessha become my consort."
An amazoness' zeal for battle, she will not forfeit and will save a seat for Zorrla in hell if she would deny Maessha to be by her side
"Alara, stop it! You're making things worse!"
Fearing another outburst from her mother, especially after she had agreed to Maessha's terms, it appeared to Masssha that Alara deliberately poked a nest full of hornets with her statement.
Oddly enough, Maessha heard not a gripe from her mother, but her usual deranged laughter.
"Kyahahaha! You have lost all the privileges to call me deranged, Amazoness. Was Maessha's pussy too good that you can't think straight anymore? Kyahahaha! You're as much of a lunatic as I am if you think the tribe you will govern will accept Maessha with open arm. And lastly, one of my daughters is far too many. But if you truly want to be with Maessha..."
A wicked smile formed upon Zorrla's lips, her Drider Armor exuding a malignant aura, Zorrla's very own lust for battle. Only after Alara had withstood ALL the agony that her Drider armor can inflict, then maybe, just maybe - Zorrla would reconsider.
"...You can prove your devotion to my daughter right now!"
A hand that gripped tight her wrist snapped Alara out of her battle mania. As much as Alara wanted to drive her spear through the spider, the real reason for invading the place was already by her side. Although, momentarily, they were still together.
How Maessha smiled at Alara made her momentarily ashamed of how she was ready to risk it all. Maessha then gazed at her mother.
"We are leaving to arrange your visit to see Ellani. Remember your oath, Mother."
"Ugh, you're becoming more and more like your sister! And not in the 'capable in killing me' kind of way, just a huge thorn in my ass. Now get your lover out of here before I change my mind."
++++
Leaping from one building to another, the werewolf moved around under the cover of night. Although in an unconventional ride, Maessha smiled as she was back where belonged. In the strapping arms of Alara wrapped around her.
Since Naya only did them a favor, a saddle was out of the question. And how would you even design a saddle for a werewolf? Their artificer friend would no doubt be able to design one in a flash, but Naya was a proud warrior, not a mode of transportation. This rescue mission being the one-time exception.
There was safety to be found in Alara tightly holding Maessha in front of her, making sure that her lover would not fall from such deadly height.
As wind blew over them from Naya's speed, their voice remained clear enough to be heard.
"You're really in for it now, Maessha. How in the seven hells will you convince Ellamir to let her mother see Ellani?"
And it is highly likely that the aforementioned seven hells will freeze over first Ellamir agreed to the proposition.
"I am unsure. I might even risk getting kicked out of her home for what I am about to suggest."
"Nah, Ellamir won't do that. Your sister cares too much to do such a thing. If you could only see how worried she was about you."
"How about you, were you worried about me?"
"No way. There was no particular reson why I lost sleep these past few days. Got distracted against my mother and made a fool out of myself. I orchestrated this rescue simply because I felt like it."
The surprise followed by Naya rocking them forward due to a sudden stop, only for her to jump high up, leading them to momentarily soart the evening skies.
Maessha's eyes widened, "Your mother has arrived!?"
"Yeah, she came just as you left."
"Have you...have you told her about us?"
"Of course I have. She's the Queen, and above all, my mother. She has the right to know on who I'm planning to become my consort."
There was a sense of embarassment that washed over Maessha. Talk about speed, they only met months ago
and Alara already mentioned to Queen Ysbeil about her becoming the Amazoness princess' consort!
"How did your mother react? You think she will like me?"
"Just as what you imagine she would, plenty surprised that I went for another Eldeth royalty but I think the thought of another Ellani softened her up a little bit. "
Between convincing her sister and meeting with Queen Ysbeil, Maessha steeled her resolve at the twin tasks she must accomplish.
