Someone Addison liked and trusted had betrayed her. She would probably settle for anyone who made her feel safe right now. 

Even an ex-boyfriend she had discarded years earlier. Jacob was the convenient option right now but didn't want to be. He couldn't let her have that sort of power over him again just to toss him away when she was doing better. 

Addison had dumped him because she didn't like that he didn't have time for her the way he did when they were in high school. That would always be a problem with both his career and hers. 

She needed someone with a normal 9-5. Or maybe another nurse or doctor with a similar schedule to hers. She would get all the attention she wanted that way.
