***ALEX'S POV***

The more that I let the words from The Keeper sink in, the less certain that I was. The more that I thought about what she was saying, the more that I felt that maybe, just maybe, she was right. D..d..did I actually care about people? Did I want to protect the world? Well, if that was actually true, then why was it that I wanted to be left alone and hated people in my normal life? What was different here?

"You look like you are having trouble with this, Alex. Is there something that you would like to ask me? Something that you might be struggling with?" I knew that The Keeper, who already admitted to being able to look into our mind, hearts and souls, already knew what it was that was bothering me, but she was still asking me to say this out loud. Was it that she just wanted to let Jake be a part of this? Or was this just another form of torture and punishment?
