"Come on." Jax nods toward the stairs and I find myself following after him when he walks while my head is still stuck on the new information I learned about Mariano.
"Why do you prank him on his birthday?" I wonder as we venture down the stairs and head to the kitchen.
"Have you met your husband? He rarely smiles. Rarely laughs. He's like a stone, but he looks good when he's happy, you know? Well, he wouldn't be happy when he sees what I did. Meh. It's fun to do pranks on him. He'll kill me for sure, but it'll be worth it."
I certainly have noticed that. The only times I caught him relaxed are very few and far in between.
We reach the kitchen and Jax goes straight to the freezer with a mischievous glint in his eyes. He takes out a pint of Ben & Jerry's and puts it down on the counter. There's always a stock of the same kind in the freezer every time. Though I haven't seen Mariano eat it yet, I know it's his.
