Capítulo 32: Moonshine

It made her baffled, at the same time she was at a loss for words. How audacious can she get? She wondered. Avyanna kept her composure as she breathed in and continued to be patient. She responded politely afterward.

[Avyanna: I'm not paid to be a wife, that, I am certain.]

[Sunny: I see, so the contract does not involve any payment?]

Avyanna was astounded, how could she know about the contract? Even though many suspected, Narcester assured her it was never given any specifications. No one was able to prove it as Narcester never spoke regarding it in the media.

[Avyanna: What is this scheme you are pulling, Sunny?]

[Sunny: What scheme? I am just asking questions, it's been a long time since we haven't talked.]

[Avyanna: Your questions aren't topics that are appropriate to start a conversation with.]

[Sunny: Oh my God, are you still angry towards me after what I did? You hate me that much because of that one accident?]

Avyanna couldn't help but agree, yes, indeed she is still saddened every time she thinks of it, it was one of the prime reasons she had gotten used to being oppressed by many people. Her past as she knew had taught her to be a masochist and be satisfied being stepped on than actually thriving to fight for herself.

[Avyanna: I won't deny that it still angers me and pains me every time I remember that incident that had happened. But as of the moment, I am trying to shake it off my system, I apologize if ever this seemed offending.]

[Sunny: So you hate me, ha! You hate me for what I did then not hate your father for being so abusive towards you? I was being merciful towards you back then.]

Avyanna knew that the topic was slowly shifting to be sensitive for her as Sunny tried to do it to aim for her goal. How could she forget that Sunny never really once apologized remarkably to someone? Sunny has always begged someone's pardon only to laugh at it later. Avyanna blamed herself for falling straight into her trap.

[Avyanna: Shall we stop this topic? It's rather sensitive, please.]

[Sunny: This is sensitive? Avie, are you sure you are not loathing me? The way you're acting is just too…arrogant. I can't take it. I only brought your father up.]

[Avyanna: I do not understand in which part of my sentence have I ever been arrogant, please, refrain from this, Sunny.]

[Sunny: What are you gonna do?]

[Avyanna: I don't want to be involved with this any further, please, I wish you not to send me any more messages as it continues to harm me.]

[Sunny: You are the one harming me as you say of how you loathe me.]

Avyanna restrained herself from responding before it could cause a heated argument, she closed her phone and stared blankly at the glass pane that directs to the balcony of her room.

The moon was shining brightly though it was not full yet it was just crescent. It was a quarter moon that peeks behind the clouds that are present during the night. The light from it was rather dim as she viewed it.

Out of a sudden, Avyanna heard three consecutive knocks arise from her door outside the room.

Slowly, she went down from the bed and footed toward the door as she twisted the knob to open it. She pulled it open and saw Ms. Aetos smiling at her, "Dinner is ready, ma'am. The sir waits for your presence downstairs so you can dine at home."

Avyanna smiled as she nodded and responded, "I'll be there shortly."

Ms. Aetos slightly bowed and went away as she went downstairs once again, Avyanna closed her door slowly and as soon as she did, she inhaled deeply and exhaled. "You are doing fine," she whispered to herself before she opened her door and followed downstairs to dine.

Sitting by the table, Narcester was silent as he never touched any food, once his gaze met her, he immediately stood up and pulled out a chair for her.

"Why have you not eaten yet?" Avyanna asked.

"I was waiting for you." he smiled.

Narcester then placed a plate before her along with the needed utensils as they began to dine.

Whilst enjoying their meal, the silence filled the dining room and the sounds of the utensils meeting the ceramic plate were responsible for the only noise that produced sound waves as they reached their ears.

After dinner, Avyanna went to the garden as she felt the calming breeze softly and gently touch her skin. A footstep heard from behind made her swerve around to witness who it was.

Narcester was behind as he casually held on to a glass of wine looking at the moon that had been swallowed within behind the clouds.

"It used to be brighter when we toasted," he spoke.

Avyanna looked at him as she was reminded of the night Narcester spoke of.

"Indeed it was."

"Guess not all beautiful things tend to show it off, not all that shine bright are perfect, they just tend to embrace their beauty…" he paused.

Avyanna looked at him, confused she was she stared at him.

"...or so a saying goes." he smiled.

Avyanna smiled faintly as she looked up above her, slowly the luna tried to escape from hiding from the clouds as she beheld it drifting slowly, rising to the pique.

"I hope you see yourself as the moon, Avie." He said.

Slowly, the two found themselves stuck in each other's gazes as it created silence between them.

The moon that was before dim shone slightly brighter upon them as they stared at each other with not any of them blinking. The clock ticked as the time flew by.

After a short while, the silence broke when a ringtone reached their ears. Immediately, Narcester reached for his pockets and picked the phone up.

"Hello?" He answered. "Yeah, who is this?"

He said as he conversed with the caller, slowly he footed away from her. She looked at the skies as she smiled to herself.

"If only I'd never been afraid to shine like the moon."
