Capítulo 14: STRANGE YUAN
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
Turning most of the fire out, Feifei left a little burn and let the meat buns sit on the stove.
Judging from the skies, its almost dark. Shen might be on his way home.
He will wait.
Going to the main house, he sat at the eating area and slumped his body over the table.
Feeling listless.
Thinking about Yuan earlier, he can feel his heart pound in excitement and anticipation. Then delicious tingles would run right down his spine. Like eating something cold in a hot summer day.
But with Yuan, he is a little conflicted.
He is attracted to him.
Seriously attracted to him.
Yuan makes him start to wish for someone he can be with for a lifetime.
Someone he can share with all the big and little things in life.
But Yuan...he looks rigid and unyielding.
Feifei bit his lips.
He is bound to be disappointed in this life. Feifei thought.
Yuan deserves to have a complete family.
Everyone does.
Its just....he can't give someone a complete family.
He can't be selfish and drag Yuan down just to satisfy his desires.
For the first time in his life, Feifei felt truly miserable about his complicated identity.
He doesn't even know why he had to pretend to be a woman.
All he knows in his heart is that, he must.
Now he feels every bit like a woman.
What to do?
Covering his face in his arms, Feifei really felt miserable.
His heart ache.
He felt like crying.

"Fanfan, go and bring this to your sister Feifei. She just arrived in the village." Shan Xuefei handed out an insulated food box to her youngest daughter who was preparing the table.
"That child might be too tired to cook tonight." She added softly. As if in after thought.
"Feifei?" Fanfan stopped putting the bowls on the table and looked at her mother in question.
She took the insulated food box, by the way. But placed it on the table.
"Huh?" Shan Xuefei was confused for a moment as she also put down the bowl of chicken stew on the table.
She then went back to the kitchen to get the millet rice and a plate of cucumber with tomatoes and egg.
"Mother, who is Feifei?" Fanfan repeated as she followed her mother to the kitchen.
Shan Xuefei was startled upon hearing Fanfan at her back. She poked Fanfan's head. "You..! Your old enough to get married yet your still playing around."
Fanfan was dumbfounded.
She's innocent, okay?!
"Just asked who Feifei was. How am I supposed to give her the food?" Fanfan murmured, aggrieved.
Shan Xuefei blinked her eyes.
Then she smiled.
"Oh... Look at me! Feifei is your brother Shen's cousin. She just arrived earlier today." Shan Xuefei explained as she put the dishes she brought to the table.
"Get the pickled radish!" She ordered Fanfan then she stood there blankly.
"That child Feifei.. She's the most beautiful girl I have ever seen." She said with sincerity. "Really beautiful. Very beautiful." She added as if what she said earlier was not enough to describe Feifei's appearance.
When Fanfan went to the eating area with the pickled radish on hand, she saw her mother in her dazed state.
"Really beautiful?" Fanfan doubted.
Could such a person exist?
Not a fairy?
Shan Xuefei glared at Fanfan with threatening eyes. "Hmpf...I'm your mother. Can I still lie to you?"
You don't lie.
You just keep on tricking me. Fanfan silently rebutted.
"You mother and daughter are always going at it. Don't you get tired?" a helpless voice sounded at the doorway.
"Father!" Fanfan jumped. "Are the pigs fine?"
"Was it a difficult birth?" Shan Xuefei also spoke at the same time with Fanfan.
Shan Xuefei and Fanfan looked at each other, both with surprise on each of their faces.
Shan Xuefei glared at Fanfan.
Fanfan wilted. What did I do now?
Looking at the antics of both mother and daughter, Yu Quibai smiled dotingly at them.
Shan Xuefei hurriedly gave Yu Quibai a cup of warm water. "After drinking, wash your hands. Let's eat."
Looking at Fanfan, she chided. "I told you to give Feifei the food. Look at this now. Your father is already here."
"I will give it to sister Feifei after we eat." Seeing her mother's death glare, Fanfan added. "Or you guys go ahead. I will ran over to brother Shen's house?"
Shan Xuefei : hmmmp.
"Who is Feifei?" Yu Quibai asked, thinking if there was someone in the village with that name.
"Its Shen's cousin. What took your son so long?" Shan Xuefei looked over the doorway.
"Did you not meet each other on your way home?"
"He went to the pig pen to see me but he did not stay long. He said he forgot to take something from the saddle bag." Yu Quibai stood up and went to the kitchen to wash his hands and face.
"Pig pen? Saddle bag?" At a loss, Shan Xuefei looked at Yu Quibai's back as he disappeared into the kitchens.
Did he not ask his son to guide Feifei to Shen's house?
Fanfan looked at her mother in bewilderment.
Her mother is really confused today.
"Brother!" Fanfan suddenly called out happily and went to meet Yuan at the door.
"Did you bring me something?" She excitedly chirped.
Yuan silently handed over a delicate box to his sister. Fanfan jumped and hugged Yuan's arms in joy.
Shan Xuefei looked over and saw Yuan at the doorstep.
She watched the brother and sister getting along with each other.
Then she frowned.
"Stop jumping like a monkey! You want others to see your joke?" Shan Xuefei scolded.
Fanfan playfully stuck her tongue out, looking silly.
Yuan smirked.
"Mother." He called out in greeting.
Shan Xuefei smiled warmly. "Didn't you show Feifei to Shen's house?"
"uhm." Yuan got inside and sat down.
Fanfan hurriedly ran and handed a cup of warm water to him. Flattering him.
"Well...?" Shan Xuefei was expecting something more.
Yuan stared at his mother, expressionless.
Shan Xuefei : !!!!!
Fanfan : !!!!
Fanfan secretly gave his brother a big thumbs up!
Shan Xuefei slapped Yuan's shoulder and sat down beside him. "Did you talk? What did you talk about? Do you think she likes you?" Shan Xuefei persisted.
Yuan's expressionless face crack a little as a soft emotion quickly passed his eyes.
Then returned back to his usual indifferent cold face.
Shan Xuefei : !!!!
Fanfan : !!!!
What does his stone face mean?
Negative?
Did not give him a chance?
Shan Xuefei is agitated!
Her dream daughter in law...is just as it is. A dream.
Shan Xuefei stared down at Yuan with disgust.
What did she expect from this stone faced son of hers! She stood up in despair.
"What took you so long to come back?"
Yuan waved the parchment in his hand in answer. But still kept mum.
Shan Xuefei : !!!
Fanfan : !!!!
Fanfan looked at his brother with adoring eyes.
All verbal rounds, won! Won even without speaking.
She giggled.
Shan Xuefei's attention was caught by Fanfan's smothered laughter. "Enough. Give this over to Feifei. Ask her to heat it. It might be cold now."
Fanfan sighed and got up.
But before she could touch anything, a hand already took over possession of the food box.
Looking up, Fanfan saw it was her brother.
She tilted her head in confusion.
Shan Xuefei also looked at Yuan.
But with a pleasant surprise.
And hope.
"You eat first. I'll go." Yuan carefully took over the insulated food box for Feifei and handed over the parchment to his mother. "Keep first."
Then he calmly walked out again.
But the house is not calm.
Fanfan was in a daze.
"Brother took over a petty task."
Shan Xuefei was smiling ear to ear.
There is hope after all!
