Jiang Ruolan had someone to bring up the refreshments, and introduced to them, "A few days back, my mother went to watch the opera and mentioned a new dessert available there, called 'Jade and Emerald Rouge Su'. "The name sure sounds appealing, it makes one curious to taste it." Su Xixian laughingly remarked, "We must thank Miss Jiang for her hospitality."
The food was served, and palm-sized desserts shaped like peonies, sat delicately on a plate of pristine white jade. The outer layer, gently cradling the dessert, was formed from jade-like petals with a rouge-red pistil at the center. When the server deftly used a silver knife to slice through the dessert, it unfolded layer by layer like a blooming peony – it really was splendid to look at.
