Capítulo 22: I WILL STAY BY HER SIDE
James Danvers
A whole week. I had to wait that long to even be able to see the head of the school and dean of admissions. A week since I got back. I didn't get back until Sunday and it took a few days for the school to even get back to me about having a meeting. Once they decided to meet with me, they said that they couldn't meet for another week. By now Z is 8 weeks along and going into her second appointment soon. I hope this will work.
"James Danves?"
"Yes, I am right here."
"The board will see you now."
I stand up and the lady guides me into the room. I thought I was only seeing the dean of admissions and the head of the school. I guess this is a bigger thing than I thought it was.
"Good afternoon Mr.Danvers. Please have a seat."
I walk to the table and sit down after pulling out a chair.
"So, I hear that you want to transfer to another college."
"Yes ma'am."
"You do understand that we are a very well known school. It's not one that is easy, per say, to get into. The fact that you were accepted is a miracle in itself. And now you are saying you want to leave?"
"If you will just let me explain I can…"
"There is no explanation for this! The very fact that you are considering it is a disgrace in itself!" Says a man on my right. There were 4 people in the room including me. I have to admit that this is very intimidating. The man that spoke is currently glaring at me. It was Mr.Saku who happens to be one of the administrators of the school.
"Now Saku let the boy explain."
He continued to glare at me. All I can do now is try to explain.
"I have a friend back home. When I came we met up and some things happened between us. Something I was not expecting to say the least."
"Mr.Danvers please tell me the end of this story is in sight. We have other more important things to attend to today."
"Saku, mind yourself."
"Anyway. She is now with child."
"You mean she is pregnant."
"Yes."
I take a deep breath.
"I want to be close to her. So that I can help out as much as possible when the baby comes. And to be by her side when the time comes. That's why I want to transfer. So that I can be closer to my kid."
"You're kidding right?"
"Excuse me?"
"So let me get this right. You make a dumb mistake of sleeping with some random slut that you claim is your friend, get her pregnant, and now you want us to help you fix your mistake. You must take us for idiots."
"She is not just some random girl! She is a very close friend of mine. I've known her since I was 5 and she was 1. There is nothing that I wouldn't do for her. I didn't plan this but now that it's happening I want to be there. No matter what. Even if that means leaving my dream college and dropping out. I will be there."
"And that affects us…"
"Hold it, Saku. You know I think that it is very honorable for you to be persistent in wanting to help. So, I will allow you to transfer."
"ARE YOU JOKING? WE CAN'T ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN."
"Yes, we can. And if I am correct you have no say in the matter. As you were demoted from your last position for decisions like this."
All I can do is sit there shocked. She signals for the two people standing by the door to escort Saku out.
"I am so sorry about him."
"It's quite alright."
"I have a friend of mine from another college that I think would love to have you. I will give him a call and have you transferred. Please look out for a phone call from me. I will let you know when everything is finalized."
"Thank you so much."
She smiles at me. I turn around and begin to walk out.
"James."
I turn around and look at Ms.Reynolds.
"Take good care of her and your child."
"I will ma'am."
I smile at her and then turn to walk out the door. The guards close the door behind me and I can't help but do a small victory dance. I pull out my phone to call Z when I see 20 snap chat and instagram notifications. I open it up and I can feel the color drain from my face and my body going limp. It's back to back messages and posts all directed at me. All for having a baby with Z. But I don't understand. I haven't said anything and neither has Z or Kiki so how in the world would… Cassidy. Every suspicion was confirmed when I checked where the first post started. I turn around and throw the doors open.
"Mr.Danvers, is there something else you need?"
"Yeah there is. It's about Cassidy Jones."
