The Collector looks at them with a smile and says:
"I was waiting for you, according to what I know you must have brought something of interest to me, is it the tree or the humanoid machine?"
As he said those words, he looked with interest at both Groot and the Sentinel.
"How did you know we'd get here?" Peter Quill asked a little curiously ignoring his curiosity about the tree and the robot.
"Each person has their secrets, but if you offer me something interesting, I can tell you" the Collector answered as he fiddled with Groot's branches, who began to feel uncomfortable.
"He has the ability to see events from different futures, not very exact, but he can still pick something up, which as you saw, he always uses to his advantage" Gamora says coldly.
"You're not funny at all, Gamora, it seems that when you were with Thanos you learned a lot, but it's a shame that now he wants you dead" the Collector said with a bored tone of voice.
Peter Quill is surprised to hear about his power.
"Hey woman, hurry up and get this over with quickly" Rocket said.
Gamora nods and says:
"You're right. Collector, we came to see you to sell this to you if you offer a good price. Quill, show it to him"
When Gamora finishes speaking, she looks at Peter Quill, who sighs and hands the orb to an intrigued Collector.
"Fascinating and interesting is what you brought me, now let's see how great this weapon of the gods is", the Collector said as he placed the orb in a machine that opened it showing what was inside.
It's a stone that releases a large amount of violet energy.
It's the Power Stone
"Weapon of the gods?" Quill asked confused.
"Let me enlighten you. Eons ago, gods of great powers used the power of this Stone to destroy civilizations that angered them" The Collector commented calmly as he showed a video of a Celestial destroying a planet.
Peter Quill watches the video in surprise and mutters:
"Those gods sure were powerful"
"Were? It seems you're misunderstanding something" the Collector said with an amused look.
"What, those gods aren't already dead? After all, they would have already come for the Stone, right?" Peter Quill questioned.
"Those gods are alive and the reason they used this Stone was to not use their own power, since if they used it, they would destroy more than a single planet. You, Gamora, know very well about their power, don't you?" the Collector said as he looked at Gamora with a smile.
Peter Quill, Drax, Groot, and Rocket are surprised.
Gamora just frowns that it's true, as she had once seen one of those things from a distance while destroying a planet, and even with her experience she shivered at its power.
"Well, leave that nonsense for other people and pay us our units or else we'll go somewhere else where they pay us and don't talk much" Rocket said a little exasperated by all that very complicated conversation.
"You guys aren't patient, huh? Well never mind, this object is fascinating and I really wished for it. So you want units, wait a few seconds" the Collector said as he approached a machine to extract units and pay them.
And at that moment, they hear a loud alarm.
Everyone gets tense.
"What's going on?" Gamora asked the Collector.
He frowns, walks over to the screens and turns them on.
In them they see what caused the alarm to sound and are surprised to see the culprit.
The screens show the spaceships defending the place being easily destroyed by what looks like a woman who is surrounded by a large amount of energy.
"That woman..." the Collector muttered in surprise.
"Is she a friend of yours?" Peter Quill asked the Collector upon hearing his murmur.
The others also look at him suspiciously.
Among them, only Gamora has a thoughtful look as she looks at the woman, because for some reason she seems familiar to her.
"No, it's just an acquaintance with whom I had many differences and I never wanted to see her again, and I thought she thought the same, but it seems I was wrong" the Collector said a little annoyed.
In that, they see how the woman destroys everything with ease and goes to where they are.
"Hey, pay us already and we won't get into your business!" Rocket nervously yelled.
Peter Quill is the same as he really realizes that the women of the universe are very dangerous.
But it's too late, as that woman enters by breaking a part of the building's wall and appears in front of them while floating.
They all tense up and ready their weapons to be ready if things get out of hand.
The woman just looks at them indifferently and penetratingly, while the energy around her disappears and she lands softly on the floor.
What remains is a very beautiful blonde-haired woman wearing a suit that fits her body perfectly.
She is Captain Marvel.
"You sure know how to annoy me Marvel, now I'll have to get new spaceships" the Collector said a little annoyed.
"You have a lot of wealth, so I don't see a problem with what I did" Captain Marvel said calmly.
"So what can I do for the protector of the universe?" the Collector asked, not bothered by her words.
"I'm not here for you, I came for that" Captain Marvel said as she looked at the Stone.
"Wait woman, this is ours, if you want it you must pay in units" Rocket interrupted seeing that Captain Marvel wanted to take the Stone.
Captain Marvel frowns at Rocket's words.
"Wait, how did you know the Stone was here?" Gamora asked when she realized there was something suspicious and she had a bad premonition.
"Er, well, a few days ago I heard that the Kree and Chitauri forces were looking for something so after some research I found out it had to do with the orb. While traveling in search of it, I found a Kree fleet headed this way and then after I «kindly» asked them what they were doing, they told me the orb was on this planet" Captain Marvel answered.
Everyone's face changes.
"Damn, those idiots know where we are" Peter Quill said annoyed.
At that moment, the alarm sounds again and this time it is the Kree and Chitauri forces that begin to enter and attack the place.
