Capítulo 38: Furuya vs Masamune: The Devil's Lair

Salt.

Saltiness.

It's the first thing Furuya tastes as he regains consciousness. His head is pounding and everything is foggy, but the unmistakable taste of salt incites his fight or flight responses to go haywire.

His eyelids feel like lead, but he blinks with enough force to open them. Looking down, his lips are propped ajar by the tip.

Of a penis.

He sputters and jerks his head backward, and a voice laughs. He looks up.

It's Masamune.

"Gotcha!" he laughs heartily, hands at his sides, "Did I scare ya? You shouldn't be scared of dicks, Furuya. I know how much you're used to seeing them."

Furuya's brain is signaling for his body to move, but his limbs are unresponsive. He's numb from the shoulders down, wrists tied behind his back with rope. He glances around.

They're in Masamune's room, shrouded in darkness from his black curtains. He can hardly distinguish the silhouettes of a desk, a closet, a bookshelf, and some baseball gear strewn across the floor. On the desk sits an empty glass of water, the one he drank from mere minutes ago if his memory isn't betraying him.

"You drugged me," he croaks, "The water. You drugged me. That's why I can't move."

"Debatable," Masamune argues, "However, when your mom is a pharmacist, getting your hands on drugs isn't too big of a feat. So it might not be debatable, after all...no fucking shit, Sherlock. I drugged you."

"But, why? I didn't do anything."

"YOU DIDN'T—"

Masamune suppresses his boiling outburst, clenching the air near his face, "You didn't what? Do anything? You told me to go fuck myself last night, babe. Like, you never curse. In-person or through text. Only during sex, because I know that much about you. I know everything about you."

Furuya swallows, then tilts his head upward, "Firstly, I am not your babe. Secondly, you've got it wrong. I didn't tell you to go fuck yourself."

"Stop cursing."

"I said, 'Fuck you.' But because of what you're doing to me right now, you can go fuck yourself."

Masamune's attempt to contain his fury is futile as he grabs a fistful of Furuya's hair and yanks him a few inches off of his bed, "Stop cursing so casually you fucking slut! It doesn't suit you. Who the hell do you think you're talking to? Did attending Seido make you forget how to respect me? You've never talked to me this way in the years we've known each other. What the hell is going on?!"

"Maybe," Furuya grimaces, "it's because I haven't been tied up and drugged against my will before. Have you tried engaging in conversation like normal people do? I've heard that's miles more effective."

"And you're using sarcasm!" Masamune fists Furuya's hair tighter, his nails scraping against his scalp as he bends down, right in his face, "The hell happened to you?! You don't behave like this! Where did you learn to—or…or did that glasses fuck teach you how to talk like this? I bet that's the case!"

Furuya's head is pulsating from Masamune's vice grip, but with his body as immobile as a dead fish, he's powerless. Given the situation he's in, he's calm and composed. Dating Masamune in middle school granted him abundant opportunities to witness him during various emotional stages, and this violent stage was the most recurrent of them. He withstood it, for the promise of mindblowing sex and companionship was the focal point of life to his younger self.

The degrading speeches, the manipulation, the obsessiveness; he withstood them all and therefore knew how to handle them. He needed to minimize the sarcasm, which Miyuki did inadvertently teach him, and act accordingly.

"Masamune-kun," he says, his tone a touch softer, "you know you're hurting me. Let go of my hair so we can talk. There's nothing I can do since I'm tied up, so being forceful is useless. I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere."

Masamune relinquishes his hold, stands erect, and steps back. His stance isn't the only thing that's erect, but that goes unaddressed by the both of them.

"Before I knocked you out," he says, "you came here saying that you wanted to settle shit. What did you mean?"

Furuya's brain fog dissipates as he recaptures the moments leading up to his current predicament, "You were harassing me last night. Sending those text messages. I figured you only did that because you missed me, so I came over."

"You're not answering the damn question. What are you here to settle?"

"Us. After today, you and I will longer be involved with each other. I already blocked your number when I arrived. I threw out the things you gifted me before I left for Seido. I've moved on, and you should, too."

Masamune scrunches up his face, incredulous as to what he's hearing, "Move on? What are you talking about? You didn't come here for that. You came here to fuck."

"Excuse me?"

"Don't play dumb, Furuya! You know you could've sent all that shit through text and blocked me after, but you didn't. You walked your ass over here, alone, for a reason, and that reason was to have sex. Ain't I right?"

"You couldn't be further from the truth. I thought you understood the message when I ended our relationship, but apparently not. Saying it to your face would be more memorable, so that's why I decided to do it in person. I am done with you.

"I refuse to tolerate your horrific attitude and your possessiveness. I've changed and matured enough to realize that sex should not define my worth, and that there are people who genuinely care about me. For more than just my body."

Masamune steps forward dauntingly, and instead of Furuya's hair, he grabs him by the collar of his shirt and twists it, "That's a lot of bullshit for, 'I'm fucking another guy and you're irrelevant now.' You don't need to beat around the bush. So, tell me. Is it really that glasses dude?"

"He is my friend," Furuya contests, "That's it."

"Fucking liar!"

Furuya isn't lying. He is pregnant with Miyuki's child, and they had shared intimate moments where they laid their hearts bare for the other to see, divulging secrets and embracing struggles. That's where it ended, unfortunately.

They were solely companions, former partners on the pitch, and now parents, but Masamune needn't know the last one.

"I can't believe you're letting that guy fuck you!" Masamune continues, his features overridden with vitriol, "It's clear as day! The only possible explanation to why you're being so cold to me is 'cause he's more important than me, which…which doesn't make any sense! I used to be your everything!

"You couldn't live without me. You'd skip baseball practice to hang out and do whatever you wanted. You'd go home late cause you didn't wanna leave my side, but now…none of that matters to you. And you think that's fucking okay?!"

'He was borderline psychotic over text,' Furuya thinks, 'This is practically tame compared to that. I've had enough. I'm going to end this.'

"Miyuki-senpai and I are not together," he says, "You need to trust me on that. I haven't slept with him, touched him, or even thought about him sexually."

"Then why is he here?" Masamune retorts, "Why is he here if you're not fuckin' him? He has no business here!"

"He's never been to Hokkaido, so he's staying over for the weekend. All we've done is sightsee."

"If that's truly the case, it wouldn't be uncomfortable for you to give me a parting gift."

"What?"

Masamune lets go of Furuya. He strokes the base of his cock with one hand as he speaks lowly, "I get it. You fuckin' hate me and can't stand the sight of me. I get it. I shouldn't butt my nose in your business 'cause you're a slut who loves lying, but the least you can do is suck me off before you cut me off. Tap into your past self, make me feel good, and I'll leave you alone. I swear."

Furuya's eyes are drawn to his dick. How it maintained its erection this entire time he couldn't fathom, but he wasn't deeply concerned about that.

Masamune willingly cutting him loose came as a surprise. He assumed it would involve profuse amounts of yelling, thrashing about, angry bullets of spit flying onto his face, jarring threats of how he'd go and kill Miyuki for stealing him away from him, and all sorts of profanities.

Perhaps Masamune had matured in that minuscule aspect, although it was still too soon to discern.

"Do you promise?" Furuya asks tentatively. He doesn't want to risk probing any further than that.

"Yeah," Masamune says.

'Sorry, Miyuki-senpai. You're the only one I want to touch like this.' "Okay, help me up. I can't move on my own."

--

Four Minutes Earlier

Miyuki and Kasumi are sprinting to Masamune's house. It was a ten-minute walk straight down the block, but time was of the essence and Furuya was in danger.

'Sh-She's fast,' Miyuki thinks as Kasumi speeds past him, her hair whipping wildly behind her, 'I wonder if she played sports when she was younger—focus, Kazuya. Why would Furuya go to Hongō's house, alone at that? He's a menace and judging by those unhinged messages, he's capable of harming him. Furuya sent me his location, so he knew what he was getting himself into. I just hope we're not too late.'

They make a hard left and Kasumi slows to a halt. She's not even panting, an indication of her healthy physique. Miyuki, alternatively, feels his days of running hellish laps around the field under Kataoka's watchful eye were all for naught.

"We're here," Kasumi says, holding the baseball she's brought with her, "Masamune-kun's window is right there, on the first floor. Who gives a crap about front doors, am I right?"

"Eh? Ehhhh?!"

Miyuki blinks twice, watching as Kasumi takes form, mirroring Furuya on the mound, and swings her arm down, launching the ball through the window.

--

One Minute Earlier

Hands still tied and body still numb, Furuya is sitting on the bed, Masamune standing before him. The head of his dick is prodding against his lips, waiting to explore.

The faint taste of salt evokes memories of when he would enjoy this position, devoted to pleasuring Masamune. This last session would be devoid of devotion and replaced by indignation.

And he knows precisely how to convey that feeling.

Furuya wets his tongue inside his mouth then sticks it out, licking slow circles around the tip of Masamune's dick. His tongue creates wider circles until it encapsulates the entire head, then he begins sucking it.

Masamune's staring at him intensely, eyes feral as he beholds the sensual sight he's seen countless times. He's never gotten sick of it, but his thoughts are interrupted when Furuya stops.

"What?" he asks, "Did I tell you to fucking stop? Keep going."

Furuya pulls back and looks up at him, licking his lips.

"By the way," he says, "I meant what I said earlier."

"And what's that?"

"Fuck you."

With that, Furuya chomps down on Masamune's dick with all his might, his teeth sinking into the warm, stiff flesh.

"AHHH!"

SHATTER!

Simultaneously, a baseball whizzes past Masamune's head and grazes him, ricocheting against the wall.

The searing pain from his dick is a mere oversight as he manages to punch Furuya across the face before Kasumi can climb through the broken window and tackle him to the floor.

"You're lucky I missed, bitch!" she yells, "Kazuya-kun, get Satoru out of here! I'll take care of this insolent brat."

"Got it!" Miyuki hops inside and gets his own on Masamune, kicking him in the dick. He then makes his way to the bed, unties Furuya, and carries him on his back out the front door.

Meanwhile, ignoring his exposed groin, Kasumi takes her slipper and beats Masamune's bare ass with it.

"Stupid! Child!" she shouts between each hit, "What! Don't! You! Under! Stand?! Leave! Satoru! Alone! Haven't you caused enough trouble?!"

"You crazy woman, get the fuck off me!" Masamune retaliates, flailing around, "That slut came here by himself! I ain't do shit!"

"Shut up, Masabitch! I didn't tell you to speak! This is for everything you've done! I beat you like this last time and I'll beat you again until your ass goes red! I'll beat your ass, your mama's ass, your sister's ass, everyone in your goddamn family, and your dead relatives can catch this Furuya Kasumi ass whooping! Do you think I'm playing? Do you hear me?!"

--

Furuya's been made to kneel on rice grains for the past thirty minutes. Although Kasumi had shown Masamune a piece of her mind, as well as his unsuspecting mother when she eventually arrived, Furuya was partially at fault, too.

She had previously badgered him about steering clear of Masamune. Following their breakup, they were not allowed to be within fifty feet of each other, message each other, anything that would trigger an adverse interaction.

"Get up," Kasumi snaps, her arms folded, "Go shower and take your stubborn behind to bed. What the hell were you thinking, going to that bastard's house by yourself? It could've been ten times worse than what Kazuya-kun and I walked into. You're carrying a baby, for Christ's sake! Are you dumb—ugh, look. The drugs might have had an impact on your child, so we'll go to the hospital tomorrow before you guys head back to Seido. Until then, you will not leave my sight. Understood?!"

"Yes," Furuya grumbles.

"Furuya Satoru, you better put your back into that 'Yes' or you'll be kneeling all night."

"Yes, ma'am."

"That's what I thought."

Kasumi sucks her teeth and storms upstairs.

Perched on the sofa, Miyuki lifts a bag of chips to his mouth and chews obnoxiously as Furuya struggles to stand. His knees are riddled with deep, red marks.

"Wow," Miyuki says mockingly, "Look at you go, superstar. Way to make your mom flip her lid on our last day here. That's a temper I never want to witness again, I almost pissed my pants. And dinner got cold because of you. I never fathomed you to be the troublemaker type. I learn something new every day."

"Sh-Shut up," the pitcher grunts, holding onto the kitchen counter, "I got drugged, paralyzed, bound, and punched within the span of twenty minutes. Couldn't you be the least bit supportive, worried even?"

"Oh, I'm totally worried. I just don't feel like showing it because, honestly, when's the last time I've been an asshole towards you? I've fed you, bathed with you, slept with you, gave you my shirt so it could comfort you, and the list continues. I wouldn't be me if I didn't switch it up now and again, huh?"

Furuya dismisses him. He tries to head up the stairs, but it's proving to be strenuous with how numb his knees are.

Rather than watch him suffer, Miyuki sighs as he walks a few steps ahead of him and bends down.

"On my back," he says.

"I thought you were being mean."

"Want me to drag you up instead? If you weren't pregnant, I would've done so already."

"…fine. I'm heavy, though."

"I can handle it."

Furuya's too weak to fight. He wraps his arms around Miyuki's shoulders and allows him to hook his arms under his thighs.

"Don't…don't do that again," Miyuki whispers.

"What?"

"As the mother of my child, your safety is my priority. Don't go off alone, running into harm's way. Wherever you are, I need to be able to protect you. If I fail to even do that, what kind of father does that make me?"

Furuya's heartbeat quickens and his cheeks flush. Despite his twisted personality and snarky vocabulary, Miyuki cared about him. He expressed it gradually, like water droplets trickling down a slide after a rainy day. Seven days together had unveiled a shift in Miyuki's persona.

Once eluding responsibility and acting standoffish, he was now steadfast on severing the toxic chains of his past, using his liberated hands to welcome Furuya and their child as permanent, indispensable elements in his life.

Furuya can't control the words that slip from his mouth, and he one day yearns for Miyuki to reciprocate them.

"I like you."

The Next Day - Tuesday - 1 PM

The trip to the hospital goes without a hitch. Ruining the element of surprise is a cardinal sin to Furuya and Miyuki, so their eyes are closed shut when Furuya's ultrasound is conducted.

Only Kasumi looks at the sonogram of his womb and she squeals, but she keeps her lips sealed. The ultrasound technician pulls her aside and discusses her findings. Nothing seems to be amiss, luckily.

Afterwards, they board the train back to Tokyo. Furuya and Miyuki wanted to return alone, but Kasumi insisted she tagged along. She was eager to meet the teammates and Coach Kataoka for the first time, so she packed two stacked bento boxes and some delicacies from her bakery.

The Green Car passes Furuya accidentally purchased for eight hundred dollars had bystanders looking in their direction, terrified, as Kasumi scolded his head off, her voice ringing throughout the train station.

"So," she says, three hours into the ride, "did your school say anything about attending classes? I don't think they're gonna be too happy letting a pregnant kid roam the halls. People can be assholes, you know."

Furuya glances at Miyuki, then recalls what Rei and Kataoka announced before setting off on their journey. The Board had expelled them, yet they were merciful enough to let them take supplemental classes. They would be separated from the student body and able to graduate once they completed their courses. It wasn't the most ideal resolution.

He relays the circumstances to his mother and she nods apologetically.

"Guess baseball's a no-go, too, huh?" she asks, "You can't pitch in your current condition and since Kazuya-kun is the father, it would be unfair to have him stay in the team. I know it's painful."

"We'll be fine," Miyuki responds, feigning obliviousness to his phone vibrating relentlessly in his pocket, "Furuya's been appointed as a manager to help the girls out, and I'm helping…doing whatever, really. It's a huge demotion from actually playing in games, but that's our punishment." 'I won't catch Eijun's pitches ever again…Chris-senpai, and hell, even the net, eat your hearts out.'

Kasumi excuses herself to the restroom, and Furuya looks at Miyuki's pocket.

"Aren't you going to answer that?" he inquires, "It's been vibrating since we sat down."

"It's Mei," the catcher says dismissively, "I can deal with him later."

"Because it's Narumiya is even more reason why you should answer. He's probably restless since you spent the week with me."

"May I add on when you completely eviscerated him? Yeah, he's fuming."

Furuya shrugs, "Don't care. He needed to learn his place. Please answer. He's disturbing the peace."

"Alright, alright."

Miyuki retrieves his phone and slides it unlocked. Mei has been spamming him with provocative photos and texts that demanded his attention.

Last night, after Furuya had fallen asleep, Kasumi gave him some advice.

"Kazuya-kun, you need to start clearing your head. Ruru might bore on about being independent, but we both know it's a facade. He's going to depend on you more than ever, so from now on, eliminate trivial things. Whether it's people, pictures, or thoughts.

"Whatever won't serve you to become the best father you possibly can, whatever will hinder you, throw it away. Distractions are your worst enemy. It sounds heartless, but trust me. You won't regret it."

'I'll humor him one last time,' Miyuki thinks as he replies to Mei.

[Messages - Mei]

Kazuya: Coming over tomorrow night

Mei: Awesome! Can't wait to fuck you

Mei: *see you

Kazuya: ...

Kazuya: I'll pretend you never sent that

Miyuki stops himself from exiting his Messages app. He notices that he doesn't have a contact photo for Furuya. That minute detail used to be insignificant, but currently, it was like the most important thing in the world.

"Smile," Miyuki says, holding his phone up.

"What?" Caught off guard, Furuya whips his head and frowns when he hears the camera click, "Did you just…take a photo of me?"

"Yep."

"Why? I wasn't prepared."

"Don't worry, it's for your contact photo. Besides, you would've said no if I had bothered asking."

Miyuki readjusts the picture and cackles as he saves it. He looks up and sees that Furuya is glaring at him, unimpressed.

Only glaring.

"W-Wait a minute," he stammers, "This is supposed to be the part where you exact your revenge, taking out your phone to take a picture of me. Don't tell me you already did that? You probably caught me while I was sleeping or something. I wouldn't put it past you."

Furuya's glare vanishes as he slumps in his seat, averting his eyes.

Miyuki's jaw drops, astonished, "YOU DID?! No way. I was joking! Let me see your phone."

"No."

"This wonderful face isn't for casual photography! How could you?"

"Don't care."

"You sicko…"

--

9:30 PM - Seido - Cafeteria

"My sister sent me this song and now I can't stop listening to it," Jun says as he plugs in his earphones and shimmies to the beat, "I came here to drop some money! Droppin' all my money! Drop some money! All this bread so yummy, yeah!"

"He's been singing that song all week," Tetsu groans, pinching the bridge of his nose, "I practically know all the lyrics by heart."

Kuramochi chimes in, "Hyahaha! I heard him say he wants to learn the dance."

"Absolutely not," Chris says, closing his notebook, "To keep our dignity intact, we must prevent that from happening or else we'll never recover. What will the other teams think of us when they learn that one of our most fearsome players spends his free time learning pop dance routines? They would slaughter us."

He pockets his book and moves the whiteboard to the rear of the cafeteria. The first string had just concluded a recap of their recent practice game, pointing out their highlights and errors. Eijun, although he wasn't here at the moment, received high praise from Kataoka about his performance.

Inconsistent as he was, his presence on the mound and unpredictable pitching style put pressure on the batters and edged the game in their favor.

Miyuki would have been proud.

"When the store say sign for it, Imma leave my autogra—" Jun stops singing when shadowy figures in his peripheral steal his attention. He turns his head and sees Furuya, Miyuki, and a heavenly-looking woman walk through the cafeteria door.

"FURUYA!" he exclaims, brushing past Miyuki. He squeezes the pitcher tightly, "You're back! I told ya to call me, man! And who's the hot babe you brought with ya, your sister?"

"Th-That's my mom," Furuya wheezes.

The members freeze, even Kataoka.

'MOM?!' they all think.

Kasumi sets down her bento boxes on a table and bows in every direction. "Hi, nice to meet you all," she greets, her voice wavering with nervousness, "I'm Furuya Kasumi, Ruru's—uh, I mean, Satoru's mother. You can just call me Kasumi, though."

She stands straight and they have a perfect view of her. Her white sleeveless turtleneck accentuates her chest, and honestly, that's the extent to what they're focused on.

Kataoka clears his throat and approaches her. She can't track his eyes through his shades and he's grateful for that.

"It's wonderful to meet you," he says, "The trip from Hokkaido must've been tiring. Please, have a seat."

While he, Kasumi, and Rei engage in conversation, the first string takes turns hugging and welcoming Furuya back.

Miyuki stands off to the side awkwardly, rubbing his neck. He anticipated the silent treatment. No one was fond of how he handled Furuya's pregnancy once the news broke, and he was a right dickhead in every sense of the word. He framed Kuramochi, told Furuya to get an abortion, and other dreadful things concerning Eijun he couldn't stomach recalling.

He deserved it.

Suddenly, Jun stands in front of him, his gaze intense as he sizes him up and down.

"Furuya, did this fuckhead give you any trouble? I wasn't playing when I said I would deliver a can of Whoop-That-Ass if you called."

Furuya shakes his head, "Isashiki-senpai, that wasn't necessary, so I didn't call you. Miyuki-senpai has been very generous to me this week."

"I'm smelling cap! I want an excuse to hit someone!"

"As a matter of fact, we actually have something to tell you."

They huddle together, and Furuya and Miyuki give their revised version of events from their night at Masuda's Karaoke Bar. Letting the team know was mainly Furuya's idea. Upon their return, he didn't want Miyuki to experience any more animosity from the others, and it would ultimately make the remainder of their time here run smoother.

"That so?" Jun asks skeptically, eyes still on Miyuki, "I coulda sworn I saw what I saw, but everyone's memory was a bit fuzzy then, so I guess I'll take your word for it. Still not apologizing for how I broke into your room and spazzed on you. Welcome back, though. I guess."

Miyuki hangs his head in relief, sweat-dropping, "Thanks…"

Rei calls them over and gestures to the amount of food and desserts Kasumi had prepared for them, laid out across two tables.

"Don't hesitate to dig in," Rei says, "Make sure to thank Kasumi-san."

The next few minutes are filled with moans of satisfaction as everyone chews happily, their tastebuds savoring Kasumi's food. There's tons to go around and Masuko doesn't waste this opportunity to stuff himself full.

"This cake is amazing," Haruichi compliments, licking his fork clean.

Kasumi shamelessly distributes business cards to them, her ego soaring so high it could be visible from Mars.

"If any of you guys are interested," she states, "I have a bakery in Hokkaido. My husband surprised me with a factory in Tokyo, so we can mass produce and ship anywhere in Japan. If you want to order anything, just mention you're from Seido and we won't charge for delivery."

"That's amazing." Kawakami takes a card, "You're a great bake—oh."

His face drops as he reads the name of her bakery printed on the card in a preppy, purple font:

Yeast Infection.

'W-Wow,' he thinks, 'Never in a million years would I assume she was Furuya's mother. They have two completely different personalities…'

Kataoka, Rei, and Kasumi stand near the back, observing the teenagers as they laugh and eat joyfully.

"Once again, thank you so much," Kataoka says after biting into an almond croissant, "The food is delicious and you really brought them together tonight."

"Exactly," Rei agrees, "Furuya-kun must be lucky to have a mother like you."

Kasumi scours the cafeteria, seeing her son being held down and force-fed a vegetable by Kuramochi and Maezono.

"I dunno," she says, smiling softly, "Seems like he's luckier to have you guys."

'I think Satoru's in great hands here at Seido.'

PENSAMENTOS DOS CRIADORES
redpenkiller redpenkiller

And that brings Furuya and Miyuki's week together to a close! Never did I think I'd be able to finesse 18 chapters out of this arc, but here we are. This is the last we'll be seeing of Kasumi's character for a while, so I hope y'all enjoyed her as much as I enjoyed writing her. The plot only goes up from here...right?

P.S: Jun being a Blackpink/Lisa stan is canon and you're legally not allowed to tell me otherwise
