Thousands of giant flies, each the size of a large dog, buzzed menacingly on the horizon.

If anyone has ever had a fly buzzing around one's ear, they would know how annoying it sounded. 

So imagine having thousands of giant flies buzzing around and exploding their eardrums with that annoying soundtrack?

As the insects drew near, some still continued flying onwards, but a few curious and disobedient ones, chose not to follow the flock. 

These flies descended upon the settlement, their compound eyes gleaming with alien intelligence.
