"Yes." Willow smiled as she held the staff out with a flourish. "Kit wanted to bring it themself, but they had something else to take care of and wanted to get it to you as soon as possible. So you get me instead. Aren't you lucky?"

Lysander nodded as if it were a real question. "I am. I will be sure to express my appreciation to Kit when I see them, but I'm delighted you are the one I got."

He took the staff and ran his fingers over the length as if searching for the place where it had been broken in two. Of course, with Kit's skill, even someone as powerful as he was wouldn't be able to find it.

Willow leaned forward in her chair. "Kit told me the only reason the creatures were able to break it was because Nicasi wasn't the one wielding it at the time. Aiden was. But Kit wanted you to know they made it even stronger than it was before, so…so if something happens again…"
