Capítulo 60: Disqualification

Before Yeon had attacked the Elder, Mia and Emily had been approaching the Elder bit by bit, whereas Yeon had purposefully maintained his distance.

For the plan to work, Yeon had to maintain a goldilocks balance:

If he was too far, then he wouldn't be able to reach the Elder within the time limit after attacking him.

If he was too close, then he would be too conspicuous and noticeable that it would ruin the crux of the plan- the element of surprise.

With the level of awareness and martial arts experience an Elder had, it would normally be impossible for a Bone Cleansing cultivator to surprise a Nascent Soul realm cultivator in the way Yeon had.

However, the Elder wasn't in a correct state of mind after being humiliated by the Fairy Empress and afterwards, he was too busy bullying the participants to be fully alert.

In a stadium full of spectators, no one would expect an Elder to be attacked, and no less by a participant.

The idea was absurd.

Frankly, it was a situation where no one knew how to react since there was no antecedent

Although unexpected, a few did know of the plan.

Yeon and the girls obviously knew, and there was just one more person who had been watching him through divine sense after Yeon had piqued her interest.

"Kakakaka!", the Fairy Empress laughed heartfully at the flushed expression of Elder Marvin.

"Serves that pompous man right. He's been humiliated in front of everyone, by a participant no less."

A contented smile was plastered on her face, and she kept smirking in between her laughter.

"Do you think that she'll be disqualified?", asked Elder Blanche from behind her.

"She? Oh, it's a he. But as for his disqualification… Let's see what happens for now,"

"A man?", muttered Elder Blanche, "Why is he wearing a veil?"

"Who knows? He wasn't wearing one before. Maybe he's shy. How adorable."

"I highly doubt he's shy. He just assaulted his examiner."

"Assault is such a harsh word, Eina. Don't be so hard on the little one, he only wanted to help his friends. What a good boy he is!"

The Fairy Empress praised him much like a proud mother would when she saw her kid being nice.

"Well, whatever the reason, it's a shame. He was a real piece of work, some nice eye candy. Might be the only thing worth watching down in these dumps."

Elder Blanche raised one of her eyebrows as she wondered how the mysterious man might look under his veil.

If it was to the extent that it caught her Sect Master's interest, then it should be quite something.

She swallowed down her desire to use her divine sense and scan his face. Unlike her superior, she wouldn't break the cultivator's courtesy and be so rude.

At least, that was what she told herself.

If she was certain that nobody would notice, she would probably sneakily take a look using her divine sense. She had been friends with the Fairy Empress long enough that her cheeky behaviour was rubbing off on her.

"It seems like he's using his brain," said Elder Blanche.

"The plan? It's certainly creative. I like it! Nice and gutsy, it's my style of plan."

"I believe that your opinion may be biased. Your anger towards the Elder is affecting your judgement. It's his behaviour after the plan that matters. The boy has yet to pass, and the test is still ongoing."

The Fairy Empress nodded in agreement and continued her explanation.

"What I meant by him using his brain was not the plan but rather what he's doing now. Even amidst all this chaos that she's caused-"

Elder Blanche paused and coughed lightly before correcting herself.

"That he's caused, he continues to walk towards the Elder."

"Confusing, isn't it? We could even pass him off as one of our sect fairies. Anyhow, as it is with all things, the aftercare is essential, the aftercare. You can't just fire off your weapon and say it's a done deal. What happens after that is the real dealbreaker or maker. Don't you agree, Eira?"

The Fairy Empress looked back at her friend and gave her a wink, but her joke fell flat. Either that or Elder Blanche simply didn't get her joke.

"Yes, even as Elder Marvin continues to hurl insults at him, he completely ignores them while resolutely continuing with the test. It's very admirable and courageous considering his young age. I'm sure that once he matures, he'll become a fine cultivator."

The Fairy Empress watched as her friend analyzed the interesting boy's behaviour and sighed.

"This is the problem with virgins," she mumbled.

"Sect Master Reina, while it is true that I am unsoiled, I believe that we are one and the same. You still retain your primal yin essence, which makes you pure as well. Is that not the reason why you still receive countless proposals to this day?"

"I'm not a virgin," she grumbled.

The Fairy Empress bit her plump lip as she whined to her friend for not believing her.

The fierce and awe-inspiring figure of Sect Master Reina that people were accustomed to was nowhere to be seen as she showed a relaxed expression in front of her only friend.

"Sect Master Reina, please correct me if I'm wrong, but your body says otherwise. And please, think of your position before making such outrageous and vulgar claims."

Elder Blanche chided her friend, but it was clear that she was used to such exchanges and didn't really mind it much.

"Why is it that you don't believe me?"

"Because the evidence says otherwise, Rei…na. *cough*, Sect Master Reina."

The Fairy Empress showed a rare calm and warm smile that differed from her usual confident smirk.

"Just call me Rei like you did in the past. We've come so far away from the Sect anyways. When else would you loosen up," she remarked in a voice as tender as her smile.

"You say that as if you brought me out here to relax, and not to run away from your duties."

Elder Blanche's eyes narrowed as she exposed the truth.

The Fairy Empress met with the impenetrable defence of Elder Blanche redirected the conversation elsewhere.

"Look, the boy's made it. Let's see how he handles the aftermath now…"

Yeon ignored the countless shouts and curses of the Elder as well as the confused looks of his fellow participants and spectators.

As much as the Elder wanted to increase the level of pressure on Yeon to prevent him from approaching, it would be immediately noticed by the guest Elders. The same went for the intensity of killing intent.

It was unclear whether Yeon had broken any rules and anything he could do to hinder Yeon would be noticeable.

Much to his chagrin, he was only left with words and insults left to counterattack and hinder Yeon.

"How dare a mere child attack an Elder from the Sapling Sword Sect! I, Noah Marvin, am a member of clan Marvin who have been allied to the Disciple Sword Sect for centuries!", he shouted at Yeon.

But he was met with silence as Yeon walked towards him unphased. Yeon's lack of response only angered him further.

"Elder Lucas! Tell me, who is this arrogant youth who dares to disrupt our sacred disciple trials?!"

Elder Lucas flipped through the list of participants and replied after finding him on the list.

"Here it is. It says that his name is Yeon, male, 20 years of age. There's nothing about affiliation or backing so I assume that he is a rogue."

If the Elder was angry before, then now, he was also in disbelief.

"A rogue?! A mere rogue?! You there, Yeo-"

The Elder flinched as Yeon was now standing just 2 paces away from him.

During the short moment he had turned to talk with Elder Lucas, Yeon had rushed up on him while he was distracted.

"You…"

And before he knew it, Yeon was directly standing in front of him.

The Elder had to look up due to Yeon being slightly taller than him which only fanned the flames.

Unlike the other participants who had pale and sweaty expressions, the individual in front of him looked rather unperturbed.

"Yeon greets Elder Marvin. Do I need to touch you directly or can I just join the rest?", Yeon asked him in a nonchalant voice.

"You… You, you!! A mere peasant's child dares act so audaciously in front of all these people. They will remember you. I will remember you. and-"

The Elder leaned towards Yeon to speak into his ear.

"I will ruin you and your three generations."

Elder Marvin scanned the remaining participants who were still approaching him.

"Time's up. The rest of you have failed. Not even being to pass such an easy test. Do you take the name of the Sapling Sword Sect as a mere joke? Pathetic. You will be escorted out. And you…"

Elder Marvin pushed his finger into Yeon's forehead. He repeatedly poked his forehead with enough force to push Yeon back a step.

"You're obviously disqualified. Get out of my face before I kill you. You should be thankful for my generosity in letting you live. It's just that as a member of the noble Marvin clan, I don't want to dirty myself with your common blood."

His tone seethed with obvious disgust as he prodded Yeon's forehead.

"…"

Yeon peeked at the room where the Fairy Empress lay but it was covered by the same black veil like the other VIP rooms.

Although it was impossible to prove, he couldn't brush off the feeling that he had been watched this entire time.

Not by the spectators but as if someone was observing him his every move and breath, like a game-piece on a board. It was an uncanny feeling that he wasn't used to, and honestly, he felt vulnerable.

Perhaps it was arrogance, but he felt that he had somewhat piqued Sect Master Reina's interest.

If what he had heard wasn't mistaken, it was at least enough to warrant her to approach him and whisper in his ear when she had descended to make an example of the Elder.

Seeing as there was no reaction from the room, he sighed and resolved himself to fix the situation at hand.

'I guess there's no reason the Sect Master of the grandiose and powerful Venerable Yin Flower Palace to help a nobody like me.'

"Sigh, maybe I'm not as pretty as I thought," he mumbled.

"What nonsense are you on about? Get out of my face!", Elder Marvin shouted while ironically pushing his face towards Yeon's veiled one.

"Please forgive me, Elder Marvin. I was simply confused. I'm getting disqualified?"

Elder Marvin made a face as if he couldn't believe what he was hearing. He looked at Yeon as if he were a stupid child, one so lacking in intelligence that it would induce pity.

"Who else but you!"

Yeon put on his most aggrieved face and his emotions were apparent through his eyes visible above the veil.

"But why, Elder Marvin?! I only wanted to pass! I apologize if anything I did offended you, but everything I did, I did with only one goal, and that was to succeed in this trial."

Yeon raised his voice for all to hear.

"In that moment of desperation, I tried anything and everything I could think of to pass! I'm sincerely sorry for what I did."

He bowed and cupped his hands as etiquette suggested.

"I just want to know what I did wro-"

"Silence!", the Elder shouted.

"I'm not going to repeat myself or is it that you really do want to die. I can make this your grave as you apparently wish…"

Yeon sighed internally. He looked at Elder Marvin and it was clear that no words would work on him.

He looked at the spectators before shifting his focus to the group of successful participants standing with the Elders.

Many of those participants had only succeeded because of what Yeon had done and were grateful for him, yet in this situation no one spoke up for him.

'Looks like I have no choice but to do that…'

X said that X became disillusioned with X's writing.

But X regained courage when X heard the phrase it's morbin time.

A 75M movie approved the phrase so X's writing can't be that bad.

X was absolutely morbin as X wrote.

Confident.

Assured.

Morbed.

Perhaps even a little arrogant.

But then X learnt that he does not in fact say it's morbin time.

It was all a lie.

How will X ever write again.

X's confidence is lost yet again.
