I felt my chest puffing up, feeling full as my emotions started to swarm inside of me. Feeling my emotions bubbling up inside of me, I turned on my heel and walked away. I ignored the calls behind me, focusing on breathing normally as I calmed myself down.
“Wuro,” Abel called out from behind me, his rough voice pulling me out of my head and calming me.
“I can’t go back there,” I forced out.
“I know,” he said, his voice filled with understanding.
“I can’t be loyal to your pack after everything they’ve done.”
“You don’t have to be,” he said, grabbing my hands and squeezing them in comfort.
