Capítulo 20: 20. it's between you and us(part 1)
"what to do?"
Hi, Ascimos here,
and here I am laziling around the mansion, thinking of what I could do right now,I had tried playing with Subaru but he told me that he has an important business to attend to,
|...but seriously, important? what could be so important he would refuse a free invitation to play with ME?!!!....|
but even so I had to give him some space...for now, so I quietly left him but at this moment I'm all alone in this mansion with no one to talk to. I searched for uncle Withward but when I had found him he was busy with the house chores,
Aunt Layla, who is on night duty seemed to be preparing for it,as for aunt Rachel and Lia I haven't seen them in quite a while,aunt Rachel's justifiable but aunt Lia? it's in the late hours of the day ,at least she should be doing one chores or the other or taking a nap but when I asked aunt Layla about her whereabouts all she gave me was a nod as she placed her hand on my head and said with a smile
"don't worry .... she would be back soon"
upon hearing that I decided to give it a rest, and now here I am walking through the hallway in and out of different rooms because of boredom
"wait should I?"
I thought for a second
"no,it would...."
"nah it's fine,I am still a kid after all"
I said as I got a solution to my predicament,I began walking to the path in which my mother's room was.
Few minutes later:
In a room which had two windows, both being on different walls,but the walls are next to one another. On the side of the windows were purple curtains which were being hanged,by one of the walls which had no window was a book shelf and in the center of the room was a round table, on the ceiling was a little Chandelier, close to one window was a bed 🛏️ and on that bed lies ,the mother of Ascimos a woman with red hair and blue eyes,she had a purplish cat which had some part of its body white in colour such as the mouth and its tummy called mits on top of her lap ,upon seeing her many a people love to comment on her beauty and there she was lying on her bed staring out the window when suddenly.....
"*Knock*knock*"
Rachel's Pov:
"yes , who's there?"
I asked wondering of who would want to visit me at this hour of the day
"ummm,mom it's me"
upon hearing that sweet innocent voice,it doesn't take long to know that it is my son
"why are you outside the room?"
I asked surprised that my own son would be scared of coming into my room
"well.....I....thought you would... be busy"
he said while seeming a bit nervous
"what nonsense,too busy for you? come in please"
I said as delicately as I could and after a few seconds he opened the door and came in
upon seeing him,I opened my arms wide indirectly asking for a hug but when he saw me , knowing fully well what I meant by this body gesture he shifted his eye sight 👀 away from me
"come on would you now break a mother's heart,I hardly see you again"
I still kept on raising my arms
"mom,I told you I am not a kid"
|....a 5 years old child still not a kid?....|
as soon as I heard that, I burst into laughter🤣🤣🤣 which somehow ended up irritating mits and she left my lap
"oh ,so Mits-kun is here too"
he said as he took up mits from the floor and after taking a good look at her he stuck his tongue at it,I was about to scold him when I saw mits doing the same thing so I decided to let it be,he then kept mits on the floor and then ran to me
which caught me off guard and then hugged me really tight and said
"you know the last thing I would want to do is break your heart"
i slowly placed my hand on his head and said
"it's okay,I know"
"uppsie daisy"
I carried him with my two hands and placed him by my side on the bed
"now tell me why did you really come?"
I asked while looking lovingly at him , patting his head
"nothing really,just wanted to talk to you,since I hardly ever see you , hey can I sleep here?"
he asked while showing me his puppy eyes
"you know my room is your room, you can sleep here whenever you want,and besides,how can I say no to this cute face of yours"
after saying that I then pinched him by the cheek
"ouch"
"oh sorry,too much ?"
I asked
"nah... it's okay"
"so I think it's about time we both get some shut eye"
I said as I offed the light of the chandelier ,after putting it off, I placed a kissed on Ascimos forehead even with his eyes opened as I laid my head on my pillow ti sleep
"hey mom?"
Ascimos called out to me
"yeah"
I replied
"good night"
he said
"you too dear"
as I slept I started to remember when Rachel had told me of how Subaru had also slept with her a while ago

I thought smiling myself to sleep
Ascimos POV:
here I was lying next to my mom, on her bed,in her room ,i wonder, maybe I should tell Subaru
no he is busy ,best I don't disturb him.
As I was deep in thoughts I didn't notice when my mom placed a kiss on my forehead,which left me in shock,
wow my mom sure is sweet,but for some reason,I have the strong feeling that she isn't the first person to have treated me like this,
I just have this feeling combined with the recent flashback I have been having, that I had...
another mom.
|..... maybe I should tell her.....|
I said as I summoned up the courage to talk
I closed my eyes, took a deep breath in ,and said
"hey, mom?"
after saying that I opened my eyes and as soon as I did I let out a big scream
"haaaaaaaaaa!!!!"
I shouted because right Infront of me was a very old man with a long beard with a long stick in his hand,who just opened his eyes and mouth wide ,which made his face look sunken ,and be ended up having the look of someone who had been in the desert and hasn't eaten for a long time ,
but after a while I saw he didn't move neither did he let out a sound
|...must be a statue....|
so i let out a sign of relief 😌
but I was left in great shock when I heard the first words that came out of its mouth which were
"hello kid"
due to the surprising turn in events I let out another scream
"haaaaaaaaaa!!!"
|....wait it can talk!!!!?....|
but this time the scream was visited with a hard knock from the old man's long stick which hurt me alot,
"is that how sad you are of seeing me ,I thought you would be more excited?"
the old man asked with a angry expression on his face and this time his face wasn't as sunken as before
I then placed my hand behind my head and said
"sorry,but do I know y...?"
before I could complete my sentence I was visited by another hard knock from the old man's stick which unfortunately led to another scream
"haaaaaaa!!!"
I screamed looking at the old man who right now ,had the look of someone who was looking down on me.
I am pretty sure, due to that knock on the head I had just made an eneru surprised face from one piece, wait ,eneru?
"wait....I know you"
after I said that the remaining memories started pouring in,like a jigsaw puzzle that was being put together really fast
"oh so you do remember"
his face became more relaxed
" well,I do have a face that you wouldn't want to forget"
he made a smug face while flattering himself
"and you haven't changed a bit"
with a disappointed face I stood up to I looked around ,I was able to realize that I was no longer in my mom's room but I was in a different place,it was like a room made out of clear mirrors and crystal,and when I looked into one I saw that my body had changed into that of my previous life,I was still staring at one of the walls when,the old man said
"Don't be confused, it's because you are still having doubts about some things that your core is still stuck the same way it is"
he said while folding his arms
"so why have you brought me here?"
I asked
"oh, it's because of 2 things,one is regarding what I just said and the other is about a small detail I left out last time we met, honestly when I found out I had forgotten it ,I thought it wouldn't hurt not to tell you because the well best secrets are the ones you keep hidden but my conscience kept on nagging me time and time again and now here we are "
he then sat down on the floor
"wait,you have a conscience"
as soon as I said that I was visited by another big knock from his stick
"haaaaa"
"hey ,of course I have a conscience, give me a little credit"
he said
|.... conscience my foot,if you had you wouldn't hit me with your stick so many a time....|
I thought while rubbing the bump which had appeared on my head due to the old man hitting me a number of times.
he then flew close to me and said
"wanna know the reasons why I brought you here"
he asked while making a smirk on his face
"anything to get me outta here soon"
I said making a sigh
"wohoooo"
the old man began flying around with his eyes beaming radiantly 🤩
"on second thought,no thanks"
after I said that, from being happy and joyful he became dejected and depressed as he bent down to the ground
after a few seconds of thinking about things he stood back up and said
"listen kid,if I don't tell you , you're gonna be stuck in here with me"
he said while smiling
|....the old man's thought: which honestly speaking,I don't mind...|
as soon as I heard that I became afraid,not of staying here ,but rather of staying here with him!!!,
the statement "stuck in here with me", "with me", "with me"
kept resounding in my brain and at the end I gave in
"fine okay, please can you tell me?"
I bent my head down and asked as politely as I could
"I was planning on telling you, but on second thought,I won't,hahahahah"
"what?!!!"
I immediately fell to the ground face flat due to the old man's response
"how does it feel when it being done to you?"
he asked still laughing
"honestly,not so good"
I replied
"thought so ,but don't worry,I'm still gonna tell you,so be at ease"
he said as he placed his hand on my head
"really?"
I asked with watery eyes
"yes really"
he replied
"thanks alot"
"okay let's get down to business,the first reason you are here is because, you haven't accepted your new life,I don't know if it's because of your past memories not being complete,or it was due to the fact you recalled them but as far as I am concerned you have to accept what you have been given,the reason being that,now you may think that there's nothing to it,but I am telling you that not accepting things as they are and being grateful and thankful for them would only lead to greater pain and regrets"
"wait,who ever told you I was ungrateful?"
I asked confused by what he just said
"sigh 😔"
the old man then placed his hand on his face and looked at me in-between his fingers
"whoever told me,is none of your business okay?"
he said calmly and continued
"you may not have been ungrateful now but you would have in the future,when all your memories would have been back and you would have started questioning your existence and the existence of those around you,I don't exactly how you would have ended up but what I do know is that if you continue on that path you would most likely curse your very own existence , maybe not by your mouth alone but also by your actions,"
he paused for a while, when he saw that he had my attention he continued
"the second reason that you are here is that,well this is partially my fault"
he said while scratching the little hair he has on his head
"it's because you were about to tell your mother about a secret of the universe"
"wait, what?"
I asked in confusion
"yep,a secret of the universe,more like mystery but you get the point"
after saying that he then sat down on the floor made out of crystals that were as clear as mirrors
"so summary is that I should not tell anyone about my past life?"
I said trying to put 2 and 2 together
"oh also that"
the old man then turned his face backward and said
"except if you want everyone to think you are mad,not that you already are...."
the old man said , letting out a sigh afterwards
"what?"
I asked the old man due to the fact that I wasn't able to catch the whole sentence
"you are immature"
he smoothly reverted his sentence
"but what you really shouldn't tell them isn't about you being reincarnated but rather of reincarnation being real and the processes done when undertaking it"
"and why is that? even if they knew they probably won't even experience it first hand so what's the big deal?"
I asked still a little bit perplexed by his reasons but....
"that's it!!!"
he yelled while pointing at my face
"what is?"
I asked moving his hand away from me
"the chances of them getting reincarnated is probably low but what if I they do then what?"
he asked
"I don't know,erase their memory or something?"
I said getting a little bit irritated by all this questions 😒
"see, it's not as simple as you think,in the world you are living in someone can actually prepare his or herself for such a thing,you should know by now that magic exist in this your new realm and if someone wanted to , with enough research,they could copy their memories into their core or part of their spirit being or whatever,so that when they get reincarnated,all the information comes pouring into them,I am not saying this as a guess but it has happened before,at first we kept on erasing the memory over and over again,but it kept on coming back ,we were still able to take control of the situation but all that could have been avoided if someone had just kept their mouth shut ,just think of it as a genie in the lamp thing, were someone who knows genies do exist and makes necessary preparations for alot of years on how to get the lamp and the wishes he is going to make, and imagine if that person has heinous ideas, what do you think would happen?"
the old man asked me
"bad things I guess"
I replied
|....but what I don't understand is that he made use of the word ' we' why is that?.....|
"exactly,now your mother may or may not tell someone like your aunt or cousin but remember the walls have ears and you may not know this but information goes round like a wildfire especially one between more than 2 people,so if your mother tells someone such as your aunt and she tells her son , who knows he may keep the secret for a while but eventually he would tell someone later on maybe as a joke just to pass the time but what if ,that person takes the joke too seriously and makes research,you understand"
he then looked closely at me expecting an answer
"I think I do"
I replied ,just barely able to get why he is making so much fuss about it
"okay,now for the other reason, it's about time you accept your new life"
he said while sitting down on the floor
"accept my new what?"
I asked just to be sure
"accept your new time"
he said again this time more loudly
" accept my new time,wait what?"
I am really becoming more and more confused
"yeah I got the papers and everything prepared"
he continued
"I thought you said life"
I calmly also sat down with the old man while talking to him, wondering when all this would be over
"if you heard me right ,why ask again?"
he came closer to me making Mafia boss face
"oh,I am sorry I guess"
I tried to just settle the matter quickly so I can get outta here
"see kid"
he wrapped his arms around my shoulder
"yeah"
I responded
"you see, the reason why your soul still takes the shape of it's previous life is because,you haven't accepted this new one ,you get?"
he then sighed 😔
"ummm,yeah?"
we began walking forward to who knows where
"you sure?"
he asked again
"yeah"
"hmmm, okay,so I will continue ,you are still holding regrets from your past life while not accepting the one you are living now,what you need to do is to accept this new one and let go of the old one"
"and what happens if I don't?"
I began removing the old man arms from off my shoulders, simply because it was becoming a bit stressful while walking with his arm around my shoulder
"I don't know,why ask me?"
the old man said showing a confused face
"wha...but....why...hey!!!!"
I shouted at the top of my lungs at the old man nonchalant nature
"hahaha"
the old man laughed
|....This old man may have become even more crazier than the last time we met....|
"wha...but..why, the look on your face is priceless"
he said out loud
"okay,so you do know?"
I became relieved 😌 that he was just pulling my leg
"hahaha,I don't"
he continued laughing
"sigh 😔,I should have known better,so can I go back now"
I became a bit irritated by the old man's childlike behavior that I really wanted to leave here, wherever here was
"oh, don't be like that,the truth is ,I am just telling you to accept your new life for your own good, don't holds regret about the past but look forward to of today"
he said while giving a thumbs up and a bright smile to go with it
"I know but ..."
I was deep in thoughts
"it's that girl in your previous life,right?"
"how did you know?"
I became shocked at how fast the old man figured out what I was thinking
"I have seen alot of faces like that and it usually points to the same thing,listen...."
he came closer to me and held my shoulder
"I told you last time we met that the decision you made was the right one, so don't show any sign of regrets,I am not saying you should forget your previous life rather don't go on regretting it cause it does make you who you are, remember you are no longer John ,you are Ascimos,and Ascimos is you, John is still a part of Ascimos,if he wasn't then Ascimos cannot be you,just that you need to move on and accept who you are right now"
the old man finished talking and then finally and willingly removed his hands from off my shoulder
"thanks"
I said finally being able to come to terms with myself due to the old man's guidance
"oh,also,I finally learnt how to use this word....."
the old man smiled and then said
" I am sorry "
"what did you say?"
before i could get an answer the old man then tapped the floor with his long stick and soon enough
"it was nice having you around kid,but it seems this is goodbye"
he smiled as he was disappearing into the blue light with little sparks of light around me and I was slowly falling into the abyss but before I lost sight of him I shouted.
"hey, sir?"
"yes?"
he said with a calm expression
"sorry,I forgot to ask ,but what's your name?"
I continued staring at the old man who for some reason looked shocked after hearing my question
after a while he let out a smile 😁 and said
"it's.....
"what? "
I yelled since I could no longer hear him"
"call me Dia, hehehe"
|... wow,for some reason his laughter and smile reminds me of Luffy,and it's really refreshing to watch...|
I thought to myself
,after that I blinked and when I opened my eyes I saw myself back in my mother's room who said to me
"yeah"
expecting me to say something
and I remembered that I was about to tell her of my previous life but due to the old man's warning I said
"good night "
i decided it's best to forget it and just sleep ,mits also joined us as it slept on my laps
"you too dear"
she replied and slept off
124 hours before Subaru officially leaves the house for the imperial academy
