Capítulo 39: A sorcerer's perspective
[ Zelretch pov ]
The first time Zelretch heard of a prodigy that created his own alchemy using a slightly different system than the common one he payed it no mind. More interesting things were going on at the time for him to look at some random brat, he had met countless prodigies over the years so such a thing wasn't as exciting as one could expect.
Time went on and he began hearing more rumours, stories about a kid who came from Atlas and who was an absolute prodigy, someone who excelled at everything and had alchemy beyond anything seen before.
His curiosity was piqued a bit by this, he was a curious person after all! However there were still more interesting things going on, if the kid actually proved himself to be someone valuable then he would see it on another reality and it would be enough to determine wether he was actually worthy of something or not.
He began focusing a bit more of attention once he connected a certain prison being destroyed to the kid.
As time went on, he began wondering why Alaya hadn't done anything to stop the kid. While he was still a small fry compared to the actual powers of the world, the corpses he pilled up had already reached the four digits. Though he did get curious about what exactly he was hoping to accomplish by killing so many humans, he also didn't focus too much on it. If the brat was so desperate on getting Alaya to kill him, the Zelretch of course wouldn't mind. The longer Alaya was focused on the brat, the less she would be focused on Zelretch himself.
Things changed however when the head of the Salvatore father, the kid's father, announced that his son had discovered a way to cheat death. Zelretch grew curious once the rumours turned into actual praises by the important people of the magus association.
[ Flashback ]
"Have you heard the stories, Lord Zelretch?" asked a brown-haired woman with a serious expression.
"Indeed I have, Lorelei." replied Zelretch amused. "I have been a bit busy to check them myself, how about you tell me wether they are true or not?"
"They are true." she replied with the same expression.
A smile grew on Zelretch's face as he got the confirmation he needed. Now this was interesting, more interesting than the wars going on on parallel worlds, so he would focus on the kid for now.
"Bring me the information you have collected on the matter." he said, however before he could finish Lorelei placed a folder on his desk.
"This is it." she replied. She had already expected for him to ask her that, though he usually preferred to go and see things by himself while causing a bit of chaos along the way and annoying others, she also knew that this was a serious subject that would interest him so he would put some actual dedication into knowing things beforehand.
Zelretch passed the pages inside the folder and ignored the boring reports, focusing instead on the actual 'item' that was created. A crazy smile appeared on his face momentarily as he began wondering gif such a thing was indeed real.
"Good.... I will go and see for myself then!" he exclaimed while getting up, before leaving however his expression changed into a serious one and focused on Lorelei, making a drop of sweat trail down from her neck. "I hope the association doesn't try to kidnap him and see what is in his mind, after all doing things without my permission that would anger me is a bad idea." he said coldly before a smile appeared on his face once again. "Well then, I will be leaving now!"
He decided to go directly to the observation room. If what the kid did was indeed true, then throughout the infinite parallel worlds there must be something to confirm it.
Arriving at the spherical black room, he activated his second true magic and an endless stream on information began entering his mind. His eyes gained a beautiful appearance as the cosmos itself was painted on them.
He scouted different realities for hours, saw countless different worlds, yet in none of them existed a Dio Salvatore. Turning off his ability, a smile appeared on his face. A mystery... how fascinating!
[ Flashback ends ]
It had been months since he got the ring, months of trying to figure out who Dio was, however there was nothing throughout the different realities to help him.
Zelretch continued moving the ring on his hand, feeling each and every inscription in it. He looked at the gem with a mesmerised expression while a crazy smile appeared on his face.
"Ahh, how long has it been since I felt like this..." he muttered. "How long has it been since my ability didn't help me solve a mystery instantly..."
As he continued to feel the inscriptions in the ring, he shook his head. "Sigh, why did you have to go and play in that little game, Dio?" he asked, though he was the only person in the room. "Well, perhaps we will gain another true sorcerer so it's not that bad. Considering his personality, he would undoubtedly be an enemy of Alaya, so either I gain an ally or Alaya gains an enemy, either way it's a win win for me." said Zelretch.
He was confused as to why Alaya hadn't done anything against the brat yet. He understood why Gaia would like him, since he killed more humans than any other magus in the past five centuries at least, however Alaya should be quite angry, so why didn't Alaya send the counter force against him...
"More and more questions..." muttered Zelretch with a smile. "How fascinating things are turning out to be. Perhaps this will keep me entertained for the next decades!"
